Best ways to flavour/spice/cook/sauce rice?
Basically poor this year and will be eating mainly vegan fried rice as a meal most days during the following year.
I want to learn more about spices and sauce so I can get a feel for it myself, but I don't know enough and basically have to just copy recipes outright.
Any tips or ideas?
Also, how do you guys have your fried rice?
PS: Steamed hams
rice just absorbs all flavors you put into,
basically chicken stock can falvor it well
I like to add bay leaf and indian spices..
In my opinion best rice is indian spices in a rice cooker with chicken stock
gives it a nice flavor

I tried beef stock once, wasn't a huge fan
Rice with cilantro and lime juice is good although I would add those after the rice is cooked since cilantro loses its color after being cooked with the rice.
Jambalaya is an interesting take on rice if you like tomato sauce with it. Conversely jollof rice is an African rice that has a similar idea and is pretty popular.
I've never made risotto but it's practically a staple in Italian cooking.
Also rice porridge (congee) is light and great for when you're sick and want something light. I know it looks and sounds kind of gross but it's decent with a small amount of seasoning.

Make a peanut sauce with peanut butter, soya sauce, lime juice, honey and an hot sauce or hot pepper.
sesame oil and oyster sauce.
meat is cheap though. I just bought an eight pound ham for $4.00. That would flavor up a fuckton of rice.
Are you going vegan because you're a fag, or because you think meat is expensive? Its really not expensive (here).

Miso paste. Get some napa cabbage or romaine lettuce, pull off a leaf and put a spoonful of rice in it, add some miso paste and roasted garlic, sliced hot pepper, etc. and fold up and eat.

I have a recipe that I like to eat in the summertime, and it's vegan too.
>cooked white rice (refrigerated a day beforehand)
>almonds
>dried cranberries
>hemp seeds
>turmeric
>curry powder
>soy sauce
>olive oil
>bell peppers
>onion
>lettuce
>tomatoes
>cut up lettuce and tomatoes, set aside
>julienne onions and peppers, and saute
>heat up a large pan to medium heat, add a bit of olive oil
>once oil is hot, add rice, turmeric, and a very liberal amount of curry powder
>mix it all up, then add a bit of soy sauce
>add in cranberries, almonds, and hemp seeds
>cook for 5-10 minutes or so
Serve over lettuce, top with onions, peppers, and fresh tomatoes.
