It actually works. When I peeled a bunch of heads of garlic, I rubbed my hands against a stainless hotel pan and the smell went away. It works by de-ionizing the sulfur that makes garlic smell stick to your hands. A little bar of stainless is convenient, but I wouldn't go out and get myself one. I think it's supposed to be a cute little stocking stuffer, and it was nice of your roommate to get you one knowing that you cook. Be nice.

i had one of those but its shape was more of a cylinder.
threw it out though because i found out it was actually a dildo and not something you rub your hands with to get the smell of garlic off your hands.
