Hey, /ck/ never really been here. Don't know if this fits, but what is your favorite thing to do to a traditional dish.

>Ex: Adding cut up Hot Dogs to Mac & Cheese (shittiest example ever)

>pic barely related

you must consult the official /ck/ bible of cooking before asking such a question.

I like mixing $130 bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon with Sprite.

I was with some japo's in HK who mixed a 10k bottle of cognac and pepsi, it was a sad day.

Are you talking about trying to improve on tradition, or Depression Era shit like adding hot dogs to whatever else was cheap (like potatoes and beans) to stretch it into a meal? Or trying to turn side dishes into meals, like putting chicken into a Caesar salad? Or just taking an already complete meal and taking it over the top for no reason, like piling greasy meat on top of a pizza, putting lobster into mac & cheese or chicken in Alfredo pasta?

The foods that arise from "this is what we have, now how do we make it into a delicious meal?" are usually much more interesting (as in likely to be brilliant or utter disasters) than those that are a result of thinking "how do we take this dish over the top?"

No, just interesting combinations you guys have found. Like certain sauces with certain things, or certain food put together.

When I'm in doubt I just add Caesar dressing

Also this,
>"this is what we have, now how do we make it into a delicious meal?"
Because these are always like you said, something brilliant or a disaster

My grandmother's turkey noodle soup (made the day after Thanksgiving) always included tomatoes, which is nonstandard, but fucking delicious.
>>
I think this is the exact reason people came up with adding sausage to biscuits and gravy, to make it not only taste better, but to make it a complete "meal"

They sound pretty baller and you sound like a bitch
>>
>>7217199
it can be baller and fucking stupid at the same time
>>
Not sure if it counts but sometimes I'll mix some nuts in with my coffee beans and grind it together for a nutty flavoured coffee.

Garlic freak here. Sometimes when I want to feel /comfy/ I make mac and cheese with the fluorescent evil plastic cheese I remember from my childhood, but I crush two or three cloves of garlic and throw them into the steaming hot mac just before I dump in the powder.
