The guy definitely is still a 5 star chef, he spent most of his adult life working his ass off for some of the best chefs in the world who were incredibly tough and had ridiculous standards. He's definitely gotten big in entertainment and business but he's still a world class chef no doubt.

Marco gave the stars back. Clearly Gordon isnt in the kitchen of his 3 star restaurant on a daily basis. Claire Smyth is the one who runs the show there. How long has it been since Gordon has cooked anything that he could serve at his 3 star restaurant I wonder.

I would bet he gets in there every once in a while when he does inspections and runs a service since he seems to have a pretty strong passion for it. He has definitely moved on to expanding his business empire though, I heard his restaurants did a total of nearly a billion dollars in flat revenue last year. He's basically got a chain of high class unique restaurants with huge turnovers. He's also got a ton of primetime fox line up shows with pretty high ratings although since those are pretty scripted he probably doesn't have to do all that much work other than shooting a dozen or so hours a week so you're right he probably doesn't cook a service very often anymore although he probably could.

Emeril Lagasse worked the same way for a while. Not sure if he still does cook in his restaurants, but he definitely used to. One of my high school teachers went to his Table 10 steakhouse restaurant in Vegas, on a night where he was actually working the kitchens. He paid $200 for a steak made by Emeril himself, and to this day says it was the best damn steak he's ever eaten in his life.

I don't doubt Gordon shows up on occasion in his restaurants to cook menu items or perhaps even daily specials. Probably just depends on whether or not he has the time for it between the other business affairs he's involved in.

My enjoyment of the show is more about the picture of the industry it paints, and the drive for michelin stars. I also enjoyed it because I have been to that restaurant so I felt I could connect with it.

Ramsay has some admirable qualities but it does seem that he eventually ends up being disliked by those who get close to him.

I used to watch Kitchen Nightmares and Restaurant Impossible all the time until I was red pilled on the success rates. It really diminished my interest in the show when I found out how silly and ineffective these methods are. It has nothing to do with Ramsey but rather the method and timing. Thing is you can't just renovate a dying business and give a two day yelling pep talk to the staff and expect them to do a heel turn on the habits they built over a lifetime. Some people are just not capable of leadership or management.

So now I just kind of stick to his purely cooking shows and maybe the occasional Hells Kitchen.

Kitchen Nightmares UK has a much higher success rate because for US version they pick the craziest, most delusional people as close to bankruptcy as they can find for drama. They also basically script the US version, telling them to have an emotional breakdown at the end, a fight with ramsey etc. in return for free good publicity.

Most of them don't even agree with Ramsey's changes, they just go along with it for the cameras because the producers say it will make their restaurant look good.

There was a french guy who had a failing restaurant who after the show said he didn't agree with anything and took down all the new decorations and was just hoping for some kind of 'cooking battle' with ramsey. A guy in hollywood who thought he was gonna be famous off his pizza place did a whole emotional crying scene then as soon as the show was over announced that he went back to his old system and inviting celebrities to his now 'famous' restaurant. The US people are usually already so deep in debt and so lazy and retarded even if he did a 6 month workshop training them they would fail.
