I just bought that chocolate today. It's currently my favourite. I get the guys in this thread saying that it's impossible to like 90% but it's really not. I started eating 70% some years ago and back then I would have thought the same.. it's just a matter of getting used to the flavour. I still like 70% but prefer 90%. The flavour is deeper aand like the way it melts in my mouth.

I like 90% but i find 70% is more enjoyable. Anything after 70% seems to have a degree of harshness and bite to it but 70% is just smooth enough to not have an edge and still be extremely rich.

It's weird because I hate other bitter foods like black coffee, tonic water, and bittermelon, but I love very dark chocolate.

Pic related is a very good chocolate company. It's a Lithuanian company that's very cheap (I've gotten a bar for as low as 79 cents), but the quality is very good, and there's a lot of variety.

This. I love dark chocolate, really. But I hate Lindt. It's not a good brand for enjoying dark chocolate. Anything above maybe 50% from them tastes gross and bitter to me. Whereas there are other brands I can easily go up to 70-80%. I don't really know enough about chocolate to know why some brands of chocolate, at equal percents, taste of nothing but bitterness while others taste pleasant, but whatever Lindt's doing, they're doing it wrong.

Not really. Eventually you notice how much sugar is crammed into 'chocolate', and then that becomes all you really notice. Some things you want to experience without being drowned in sweetness. It's like an above anon said, the notes of taste are much more complex in darker chocolate. It's not so much an instant 'fuck this is good', but it's a more unique taste experience than a bar of milk and sugar.

Been using this lately to try out a hot chocolate recipe. First time I tried it I used semi-sweet, it's considerably better darker. Might try adding in just a little bit of coffee next time I make it, see how that tastes.
