It's true that in Washington there is still a fair amount of folks that still see it's use as a kind of taboo. Some towns have outright banned retail locations within their city limits and shit like that, unfortunately. I don't know why everyone seems to think they should have the right to tell anyone else what they should or shouldn't be doing to themselves. If certain people don't like ganja then they simply don't have to walk into the pot store, nobody is gonna force them to toke up. One big problem is that MJ is still illegal according to the feds: where I live in CO, a majority of the voters in the county supported legalization, but more than a year in and our county and city officials are still doing everything legally possible to slow and prevent the expansion of MJ-related business. The main issue here is that our local economy is dependent on military bases and related defense contracting companies, so there's a fear that if MJ (which is still totally illegal for military and other federal employees) becomes too readily available here it might encourage the DoD to close bases and spend its money elsewhere.
