>no Beer General
What beer is wetting your whistle tonight /ck/?
Currently drinking this. Absolutely gorgeous American style IPA from Britbongland. Fruity and piney, way too drinkable for the ABV.
I've had some of their stuff before and it's been pretty decent, but this was a lovely surprise.
I know those feels brah. I tend to take a few days off of beer a week, and if drinking in the week it would be one max (unless at a pub etc.).
>been drinking bitburger and other beers, even just yuengling sometimes
>have never once touched anything like natural ice, bud/bud light, basically anything you associate with watching sports and drinking
>go to relatives house over the thanksgiving break
>all they have is bud light so I figure what the hell
It legitimately tastes like slightly-off club soda or tonic water, but drinks like water.
Is that why it's so popular at parties, tastes like nothing but gets you with 5% each bottle?
>used to live in pennsylvania
>restaurants can sell six packs but otherwise beer is generally sold by the case at private stores - EXCELLENT SELECTION
>move back to New York
>beer can be sold at gas stations and supermarket but getting a good selection at a good price becomes much harder
Been drinking a lot of Sixpoint Crisp Pils and SIxpoint Bengali lately. Love Bell's Two Hearted on tap or in can (bottle tastes odd for some reason). Also been a fan of Two Road's Old Factory Pils as of late, got kind of sick of the Two Roads Road 2 Ruin IPA (good taste but just had too much of it - excellent in a 16oz can).
if i bought a beer which is supposed to be a stout but have a short consumption date limit and i was forced to wait 3 month since i bought it before drinking it, would it taste like shit?
>used to make fun of alcoholics when I was a kid
>can't feel happiness anymore without at least 6 cans of guinness
what went wrong?
>never once touched bud light
There's no need to lie, friend. We've all played the odd game of pong here and there or taken advantage of 3$ tall drafts at happy hour.
Btw in my opinion, coors light is the best in the category, served ice cold it ends up being more refreshing than some beers which can leave you with an aftertaste and weigh you down.
Lol, don't they already?
I really don't buy into that "a major brand bought them so now they are shit" story.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Got a 12z of 'calm before the storm' I'm saving for christmas. The grapefruit is my favorite though.
Drinking pic related. Bought at the 7-11 a block from my house. $8.99 for 6. What?
Depends on quality and what the production of said beer consists of. I'd say on average you're looking at $8-$12 for a 6 pack of craft beer, but you can find some individuals, 4 pks, and 6 pks that go for a lot higher than that..
Currently recovering after a weekend spend beer sampling in Belgium. Turns out I don't like Belgian beer at all (with very few exceptions), it's always rather sour or yeasty or just on the bland side. I'm more of an English bitter drinker.
Just some of the beers we've been sampling...
Drinking some Death by Coconut, it's pretty good. I like it more than TEN-FIDY to be honest family.
If the quality doesn't go down, what does it matter? If anything, the buyout might finally lower the price of Sculpin(s). I've never seen it lower than $11 and I live less than thirty minutes away from the brewery.
Depends. In Southern California, the price can be from $6.99 (SN Torpedo) to $14.99 (Grapefruit Sculpin at some shitty big box beverage stores).
>If the quality doesn't go down, what does it matter?
Because that's a very big "IF". Most likely the corporate takeover will result in a drop in quality. That's what usually happens (though of course there might be an exception).
Last I checked, Saint Archer is still producing some great beer (Coffee Brown are Mosaic are GOAT, post buyout) and Lagunitas seems the same. If anything, it's easier to get fresh Sucks. I'm remaining optimistic about Ballast Point.
Any of you guys in the Inland Empire? I feel weird going to a brewery or bar by myself. Hangar 24 is decent and there's Stell Coffee and Tea that's pouring Speedway Stout with Vietnamese coffee.
probably one of the better pale ales i've ever had
Is it bad that I like this?
It's not bad if you can still stomach sugar water, which I personally cannot.
I see this literally everywhere now, and am honestly surprised /ck/ hasn't started throwing around the "m" word with regards to it yet.
>yeah, it takes /ck/ trolls a decade to catch onto popular foods
Dieu di Ciel makes some crazy beer. What is that one? I don't recall ever seeing it before. I know they make one with mushrooms.
Of course they make quality beer on the more normal side of things too.
It's that time of the year for my favorite imperial stout.
classic french canadian beer, smooth, yet sour like a belgian beer, damn good, they are more well known for blanche de chambly
my sister is going up to sante adairius this weekend and I'm pretty excited about it. hoping they still have bottles of saison bernice to-go... My beer fridge is mostly more expensive stuff that I save for shares/special occasions, but I do have a bottle of blind pig in there that I'll probably open tomorrow.
Decided to open a bottle of this tonight. Very pleasantly surprised. A good sweet aroma, no overpowering hops, light malt, and refreshing flavors.
For the most part I despise most IPAs. I always praise ones that don't decide to make death by hops.
Bought a 4 pack of this stuff to try. Never had a bad beer from this company so I'm giving it a shot. Also bought Alesmith ESB. First Alesmith beer I've bought. They had Speedway stout but I didn't want to spend 12$ on a bottle.
I haven't tried either though since I had some celebration ale left to finish
PBR reporting in. It's on special here during happy hour. Nothing fancy but an old reliable for me.
Not at my usual bar for dinner tonight because I don't want the QTs there to see my healing cold sore and get grossed out. Here's to hoping someone gets one of my used glasses here and develops a sore of their own.
I don't drink alcohol but I bought this on Tuesday and it was quite nice. Is this good beer? Or is it just tasty to somebody like me who knows nothing about beer?
I was going to try an IPA instead since everybody has a boner over them, but it was too pricey.
There are beer distributors in New York, but they generally lean towards six packs and prices are regularly higher.
Whereas I might spend $12/six pack in NY, I could regularly spend $36-$38 on a 24 pack in PA of good craft beer.
Brooklyn Beer is meh. The lager is okay. Personal opinion is other breweries make better beer, even if you're trying to support a New York brewery.
I would try Bell's Two hearted, it has a unique flavor for an IPA that's floral and not bitter. I recommend draft or can if available, or pour into a glass if not.
Tastes like shit to me, and I like good root beer (e.g. Boylan's Root Beer).
This seems way better than it should be....Insanely drinkable and tasty.
Got some of this but haven't tried it yet. hope it's good
it was one of the first beers i enjoyed.
there have been many more since.
pic very much related.
A debate hopefully someone can answer between a m8 and I. When I drink, I like to chug, mainly because I dont like wasting time sipping the usual shit suds we get out here, something good and I'll take my time but the usual piss? nah. I dont mean chugging beer after beer (often) but as in when I start drinking, I'll just chug er down, two drinks if I'm trying to be slow. Now my m8 says he thinks the reason I get hungover is because I do that, not because of the volume itself per se, and that I should drink at a slower rate, but that my actual consumption per time period is fine.
I know all the shit you can do to help and whatnot, I try to, but he seems to think drinking the actual liquid itself faster is somehow a lot worse, even if it's the same amount you're drinking over time. Any ounce of truth to what he says?
Update on that Hairbanger beer. If you're in MN try to find it. It's one of the best local APAs I've had. Super balanced and malty with an awesome fruitiness to it. Can't recommend it enough
But that's the thing, you arent. You're ingesting more alcohol at once. You're going to get fucked up quicker. Even if you wait an hour, which I guarantee you dont, you're still going to spike your body's reaction to alcohol by chugging a beer in 5 minutes
It's 4 AM
I started drinking Born Yesterday's around 9PM.
Was working a catering.
Now I'm pounding pic.
I really like it better than their regular IPA. A bit higher in alcohol content. It's a pretty easy drink. A bit more balanced to my liking.
>Which widely available beer is good?
Craft beer is really dependent on area. What state you in anon?
Lagunitas has an IPA and Pale that are pretty good.
IPAs are a matter of perception, you like them or you don't. Try them out. There's an unfortunate fad where they're throwing a shitload of hops in nowadays. For IPAs that I can regularly get, I like Sixpoint Bengali, Troeg's Perpetual, and Bell's Two Hearted, but there are others I would drink if they were available at whatever location I wanted to frequent.
This was my beer tonight. Quite an interesting one actually, never had an imperial red IPA before. Very malty and boozy, one to sip over a long time.
Not my image but drinking this.
>WHY ARE PEOPLE DRINKING BUD LIGHT ITS SO NASTY AND TASTE LIKE WATER
are you one of those trans-queers that drinks one beer and calls it night? You can drink this stuff from sunrise to sundown and only spend $20. Get yourself some.friends and you will see why its so popular
I'm the process of training my palate and cannot really comment on it other than it smells delicious, it got better in taste as it became warmer (let it sit in fridge for 2 hours) and when I poured it I wasn't able to achieve a head like in the picture I posted.
I have picked up picture related
DUDE GETTIN FADED WITH THE BROSKIS FUCKIN HELL YEAH
A very hoppy pale ale. The current trend is enamel-melting bitterness but there are some very balanced American IPAs. Bell's Two Hearted is very good example of great balance. I prefer more citrus-y IPAs like Fresh Squeezed though t b h f a m.
