anyways, having moved from germany to austria i really miss the rolls you can get in german bakeries. the ones they sell here are of vastly inferior quality while being rather expensive (35c each)

there is some pretty cool stuff though like powid-/germknödel, steamed yeast dumplings that are filled with plum jam and served with poppy seeds and sugar, melted butter and sugar or vanilla sauce.

I'm proud because it's versatile and hearty. Each small region has it's own special dishes and there are influences from many different countries. Italian/mediterranean in the south, Ottoman in the east, austrian/middle European in the north and west etc.

Biggest problem in Germany is that the ingredients are generally very shitty, basically you need to go to "eco" shop to get something that has any taste, whereas in the best food countries (Italy, France, Spain) you can just get good tasting shit allover.

German bread variety is nice but it's quite hard to actually find a good bakery. Most just buy the same mass produced ready made shit. When it comes to white bread, the French are untouchable.

In terms of beer, I think German beer is the best by far. I don't like Belgian or American micro meme brews with their whacky flavours. That's not even beer to me. I haven't had a lot of Czech beer but the ones I tried were all extremely bitter and tasted like some kind of herbs, weird shit.

Sausages are good but slavs have good sausages too.

I like German cakes and sweets a lot, very underrated stuff.
