Are you supposed to eat the rind?
>>
>>7110007
if you enjoy it, yeah
>>
>>7110012
What if you don't?
>>
>>7110016
Then you probably shouldn't eat Brie? It'd be like trying to eat Stilton but trying to avoid the mold.
>>
yes it's like you want polio
>>
>>7110020
But the inside tastes so good.
>>
So, can the heel of brie be used? Like parmesan?
>>
nein, nur schwein
>>
>>7110027
Then grow the fuck up?
>>
>>7110037
By eating things that I don't actually want to?
>>
>>7110041
Either you want to eat Brie or you don't. Make up your fucking mind you gigantic manchild.
>>
>>7110007
Yes.
>>
>>7110007

up to you
>>
>>7110043
I want to eat the part that tastes good. Are there any cheeses that taste similar but don't have the rind?
>>
>>7110043
Only on 4chan will you find somebody this autistic.
>>
>>7110053
>Telling a manchild to man up and stop being a pussy because he doesn't like a little rind on Brie is autistic now

I want Nagasakimoot to add a filter that changes "autistic" to "I'm a fucking spastic" and then perma-bans the poster form all boards except /soc/
>>
>>7110052
Then eat something else, i cant imagine why youd find Brie rind unenjoyable anyway
>>
>>7110082
Ok, do I have to stop eating crab also, I tend to not eat the shell.
>>
>>7110098
Apples to oranges you fucking idiot. On that note, it might also surprise you to learn that both the skin of an apple and the peel of an orange are edible.

Also, Camembert is similar, but to your dismay I'm sure, also has a fucking rind because it's a fucking cheese. Shocking. Seriously, is this a bait thread or are there seriously people this fucking stupid?
>>
>>7110098
Nobody eats the shell, and thats something that doesnt have flavor nor is it very safe to eat

Are you going to ask something as stupid if you have to eat the wrapper on a chocolate bar too?

just kill yourself now you pathetic manchild
>>
>>7110007
I never really cared for it. Just don't do that thing where you dig out the middle and leave the rind if you are at a party, that shit's annoying.
>>
>>7110117
Wait, this is something people do? Even privately that would be a fucking waste, but socially? Embarrassing. Jesus.

>>
>>7110117
They're leaving the rind for the people that like to eat the rind. Makes sense.
>>
>>7110155
Are there people that actually prefer the rind?
>>
>>7110231
In a lot of cheeses, the rind can actually be the most flavorful part. I don't prefer it in brie. But then I kind of see it all as a packaged deal. It's not a separate part I can prefer, it is the cheese. You take it or leave it.

It's already been mentioned itt and they're so similar most people who browse this board honestly wouldn't be able to tell you the difference. Nothing to be an elitist cunt about, m8. That said, they're both pretty prime as far as I'm concerned.

You're kidding, right? Whatever. Guess I'll just refer to what this anon >>7110406 said. Not even going to bother with this right now.
>>
>>7110007
I only eat the rind and throw the inside away since i dont like it. We would be a perfect couple
>>
What's the best way to enjoy camembert?
>>
>>7110419
Brie is much milder and has a more creamy taste due to its higher fat content, Camembert has a deeper, more intense flavor. You can tell right away which is which.
>>
>>7110442
You buy, it, put it on your table for like 2-3 days, cut a portion, wait a day, repeat.

When it begin to flavour all the room it's good.

Obviously you don't wait the same time if in summer than in winter.

I suggest to eat it with bread.
>>
>>7110450
Yes there are some differences but they are very similar and enjoyable for almost the same reasons.
>>
>>7110442
Baked! With a toasted baguette some dried fruit and nuts. There are lots of options. Even soy sauce goes with it.

>>7110442

>>
>>7110450
What this guy >>7110456 said, yeah, there are distinctions, I wasn't saying they're identical. But it's undeniable that they are very similar.

>>
>>7110457
Interesting. Can you bake half a wheel? Like, maybe turned on it's side. I don't think we could eat the whole thing and I don't imagine it can be refrigerated again after.
>>
>>7110455
And don't make the mistake to eat it with red wine, pick a white wine or better some cider. If you insist on eating it with a red wine, take some low tannic red wines then.
>>
>>7110489
You can cut it. Just have it set so the cheese doesn't leak out I guess. Maybe up against some bread?
>>
>>7110307

That's good stuff too...
>>
>>7110307
Ebichu pls go
>>
Brie is fucking disgusting. It's like eating a fucking flower. No savory taste, no salty taste, no good tastes. Just bitter, flowery disgust.
>>
>>7110955
The American Palate
>>
>>7110957
Well, a shitty one, yes.
>>
>>7110957
No, it's just blatantly, overtly, obviously fucking gross. It's not that my palate is uncultured, it's that your palate is cultured in a disgusting manner.
>>
>>7110983
>I'm not the one at fault for not liking [thing that is generally liked]
>It's everybody else who is at fault for liking [thing that is generally liked]

Feel however you like, I just think you're missing out.
>>
>>7110983
I am proud to be in America,
Where I don't eat decent cheese.
>>
>>7110987
There are only two possibilities.

1. The brie I got was not what is expected of brie.
2. People are acquiring a taste for it (read: forcing themselves to taste something until they like it).
>>
>>7110989
>2. People are acquiring a taste for it (read: forcing themselves to taste something until they like it).

Is this genuinely what plebs/Americans believe? They've destroyed their tastebuds with HFCS and Tabasco and American "cheese" product and then faced with actual food their bodies revolt.
>>
>>7110989
I'd guess the former based on my own experience alone. I genuinely loved it the first time I tried it. Not even a French family. I'm not suggesting you give it another chance (though really, what's the harm?) if you really hate it. I'm just at a loss for how somebody could hate it that intensely. After all, it's not like I'm sitting here telling you that it's the greatest thing in the world either.
>>
>>7110995
What the fuck do you think constitutes an "actual food", dumb cunt? Cheese isn't natural either, if by natural you mean naturally-occurring. It's made, not harvested.

Go back to your pretentious organic free range food marts.

>>7111007
I plan to try it again, because I honestly cannot believe how many people adore it while I found it so immediately unpalatable.
>>
>>7110989
For your american tastes, I recommend a bacon and brie panini, the saltiness of the bacon brings out the brie flavour
>>
Okay is camember supposed to be really mild? I mean, it barely tasted of anything at all. I had it lightly broiled on some sourdough (not like strong sourdough either, it was grocery store sourdough) and I don't even remember what it tasted like. I was expecting something more like aged cheddar, or blue cheese, something that sticks with you for a while. I don't know. Maybe I got a bad one. It was imported from Denmark though.
>>
>>7111015
Well I hope you enjoy it more the second time around. How'd you have it that first time if you don't mind telling?

>>7111017
Woah, yeah it's going to be very mild compared to something like cheddar, aged or not. Cheddar's sharp, Camembert is mild. That is just the way it tastes. Also, if you'tr going to spend the additional money on imported cheeses, generally try to import from that cheese's country of origin, in this case France. Usually yields better results. Or so I've found.
>>
The biggest mistake most people make is to treat all cheeses the same. They're not. They need to be paired with different flavors properly.
>>
>>7110007
it's edible and you paid for it so you may as well eat it

>five minutes of a man listing off cheeses while another man says no

I really don't get British comedy.
>>
>>7111095
It's sort of a theatre of the absurd kinda thing. Flying Circus was a very topical show, and it often satirized the British penchant for seriousness by placing these typically serious people in ridiculous situations wherein the characters strive to maintain their composure but ultimately fail spectacularly. It's like a lot of humour that doesn't appeal to an audience with no great knowledge of the subject to which that humour pertains.
>>
>>7111113
Good explanation. I grew up with this sort of thing and couldn't have explained it that well.
