Hot Ginger Tonic!
1 cup water
1-inch piece ginger root (or more, to taste), peeled and roughly chopped
1/2 whole organic lemon
1 teaspoon honey, or to taste
1 ounce whiskey (optional)

1 quart to a half gallon apple cider
1 tbsp whole cloves
3 sticks of cinnamon

My favorite sober homemade drink is rose cream soda. It's rose syrup, cream and seltzer, combined to desired taste. I like a strongly rose-flavored syrup and not too much cream.
