make cuts along the side of the fish down to the bone
thank the fish for the deliciousness it is about to impart
put it in a steamer for about 30 minutes
i dont have a steamer so i loosely wrapped it in foil and put it in the oven for 40 minutes at 200C
here is the cooked fish
the juices that have collected in the bottom make an amazing sauce
you can add sliced shiitake mushrooms or tomatoes or onions for a sour taste and so on depending on what you like
it smells like ginger mostly, i like it
Not OP, beats the place smelling like cigarettes. Roommate decided to start smoking inside. Just turned the AC off on him and opened the windows. I smoke my fair share of cigarettes and I can smell it permeating the whole apartment.
Awaiting the results of the fish
eat with steamed white rice, serves 2 with rice or 1 without
its very tender and well flavoured
julienne the ginger as thinly as you can for best results, it tastes better than thick chunks of ginger
good luck in the kitchen!
i have a hood fan over the stove, nevertheless the house often smells like vinegar because my housemate eats bread smeared with lard and onions soaked in vinegar
I left it in the oven for longer than I wanted to because I was in the middle of a game and forgot, but it was perfectly cooked
Steaming is a very forgiving method of cooking either way so you can leave your fish in for 10-15 minutes extra no problemo
A friend will be staying at my apartment tomorrow, what do I buy at the grocery store so he doesn't think I'm a mega-bum?
Currently I have:
10 cans of pork and beans
Diet Mountain Drew
20 cans of tuna
2 cans of corn
A chicken in the freezer
