>you're doing it worng
>>
>>7089876
There isnt anything 'wrong' with it. But there are some really amazing gins out there which are much better. And unlike whiskey or brandy, you dont have to pay a fortune for them.

A standard gin will cost around £20, but you can get really good gin for £30. If you are drinking martini or g+t, or any drink where you can actually taste the gin, its worth spending the extra in my opinion.
>>
>>7089890
so what are some good gins then?
i literally just buy at whats in mid range.

that fancy blue bombay bottle? thats the most expensive gin available here where i live. is it worth it? costs almost as much as tranquery, and to be honest i probably wont be able to differentiate the taste

>>7089889
because girls usually dont drink whiskey. 90% of ur bar is bs but you should have SOME stuff that women drink incase you actually manage to invite one

>>7089899
Where do you live?

Lots of mixed opinions about Bombay Sapphire. Some people love it, some people hate it. I dont think it should be much more expensive than Tanq.

My current gins are The Botanist and Monkey 47. I want to get Bath Tub Gin by Professor Cornelius Ampleforth.

>being this naive about women
for a woman, the nightmare is getting beat up. big deal, you can just leave the guy, but somehow this escapes them. or maybe having sex "forced" on you somehow, as in, asking for it, getting liquored up, and then changing your mind the next day because it didn't meet your definition of prissy princess perfect sex.

for a man, the nightmare is having your life permanently ruined. unwanted babies, STDs, accusations of being an emotional abuser or being "manipulative" or whatever, and having the whore run around and tell all your mutual friends. who, needless to say, default to believing her because women can do no wrong.

I'd take getting slapped around if it was as simple as that, but being trapped for 75 years inside a bleeding, irrational semen collector with giant punching bags on my chest isn't really appealing so much, so I guess I'll live with having a target painted on my bank account, reputation, and every sperm cell that flies out of my dick

>>
>>7089293
>Just get some iichiko shochu, it's better than your average korean soju while still being reasonably easy to find.
Eh, I already am going to buy some Iichiko next week. I'd just like to complete my collection with a Korean soju.
>>7089246
Like I'm saying, I'm looking to complete a collection. One of each type of hard liquor. I've heard some of them taste like solvent, which is why I'm looking for serviceable brands.
>>
>>7089874
Tanqueray is the only London Dry Gin that I know which is basic taste with no blends and infusions.
>>
>>7091037
They are regular gins, but probably not basic. Bombay is mid-tier gin and available in most supermarkets or places they sell alcohol, Botanist and Monkey 47 are more expensive and not so common to find. You would have to go to a specialist shop or department store to find them.
>>
>>7091120
Maybe it's just because I live in murrica, but I have yet to have a korean soju that measured up to the standards of your average everyday japanese shochu, let alone the kinds of artisanal carrot or yam or whatever shochus that you can find at liquor stores with a lot of japanese customers.

It just seems like korea is driven to make that stuff by the supertanker, at a lower price point. It's like aussie wine compared to european wine, it's cool that they can make so much of it for so cheap and still have it be basically more or less fit for human consumption, technically. But it's a different product for a different kind of drinker.

Maybe you should try to find that DPRK stuff, it's legal to buy in the US now.

>>
>>7091143
I dont really mean warmed as in hot, I mean room temperature or greater

honestly, wine is shit at room temperature, reds included. Yeah, I like chilled red wine. Niggas can get at me if they have a problem with it
>>
>>7091147
>room temperature
There you go again

"Room temperature" really means cellar temperature. The optimal temperature for most reds is noticeably cooler than the average ambient temperature of most rooms.

You really need to forget whatever you think you know about drinking. Someone filled your brain with lies.
>>
>>7090949
Bombay Saphire is my favorite gin. I have never strayed very far from it. How do your others compare?
>>
>>7091150
Most people don't got cellars. So how long do you keep spirits in the fridge before it cools down to cellar temps?
>>
>>7091187
I don't keep spirits anymore, I was spiraling into alcoholism for a while. But when I did, I kept them at room temp, since I was doing a lot of cocktails and in my opinion (which happens to be a correct opinion), standard cocktail proportions are based on the assumption that the spirit is (literally) room temperature unless otherwise specified.

When it comes to wine, I'm not anal about temperature but for red wines that run hot on the nose/palate, I sometimes toss the bottle in the fridge for a little bit before popping the cork. Whites too tend to be served overly chilled. If I get a particularly good bottle of white wine I've been known to take it out of the fridge to warm up a little before pouring.

I'm not super anal about this stuff but I'm just suggesting that you reconsider what you take as "expert advice" on drinking. Your instincts are pointing you in the right direction, you're just getting advice from idiots.
>>
>>7091202
>>7091187
Also when it comes to brandy I drank that at room temperature, when I was into brandy. Literally, room temperature, as in ambient temperature.

If you want to chill it a little, and I emphasize a little, I don't see why that's such a bad thing, but please, don't do that "brandy snifter" thing where you warm it in your hand. Horrible.
>>
>>7091186
The other two are far superior to bombay.

I always like Bombay. Lots of people hate it. But that was the gin which I first drank and Ive always enjoyed it. Nice enough to make a strong g+t, cheap enough to not worry too much about price.
>>
>>7091214
I want to drink brandy the way people drink scotch

>Gin

By the way, Bombay Sapphire is a brand of Bombay Gin, but it's not the only one. You can find the original Bombay gin in liquor stores for a few dollars less, and it's a traditional London Dry instead of a more modern gin like Sapphire. I prefer it, to be honest--Sapphire isn't bad, but the flavors are kind of unfocused.

Original Bombay, Broker's, and Beefeater are superior alternatives to Tanqueray and cost about as much. Speaking of Beefeater, Beefeater 24 runs about as much as Sapphire, and it's quite nice--there's still plenty of juniper, but the grapefruit and green tea hints add a lot.

If you like Sapphire, consider New Amsterdam. Also a modern-style gin, highly rated, and dirt cheap (about half as much). It's citrusy--I think it tastes like a creamsicle dipped in pine tar-- but most people seem to like it.

Bols is alright but nothing special. A really cheap and bretty good Jenever is Gorter.

Also try this:
>Glass of beer
>Shot of Jenever
>Sink the shot into the beer.

We call that a headbutt because you won't taste it, but it'll kick like a mule.

thats not lemon juice, those are bitters. i know its a fucking stupid packaging. but i do actually have a bottle of grenadine in the bottle mix

Googled it, still not sure what it is. Is it like bitters but for gin?
>>
>>7092470

I live in a small apartment with a finite amount of shelf space. I keep the bottles in credenza/sideboard.
>>
>>7092508

I use a local brand called blood moon, nice but a little mild. Would prefer something with a stronger flavour.

>>7093511

It's the original way to make tonic water before they had the synthetic stuff in a can. It's currently undergoing a revival in a handful of hipster cities. Basically a thick syrup you mix with soda water.
>>
>>7088933

How is that Glenfiddich oak? Ive only had the green bottle and I found it to be pretty sweet compared to other scotches I've had. I enjoyed it.
>>
>>7093924

I like it a lot, but it's a bit overpriced. I got it as a gift.

The gimmick is that they use virgin oak barrels to age it instead of the second-hand bourbon or sherry barrels that are the industry standard. This way you get the caramel flavour common in bourbon from the sugars in the wood, it's like a cross between bourbon and scotch.

Bulleit rye
Evan Williams 1783
Beefeater gin
Captain Morgan black spiced rum
Kraken
Atlantico platino white rum
Bacardi (just regular, none of the flavored stuff)

Angostura bitters

various citrus fruits in the pantry

what should I get?

Nice setup, seems pretty commercial, you run a pub or something? What's up with the warming rack to the right of the taps?

Also
>carlton
>>
>>7094561
Home brewing shop. Close though. The warming rack is so we can have warm pies for lunch each day. If you just microwave them, they get soggy.

It isn't really carlton, it's a basic draught so people can try something that they can make really easily.

I drink alcohol very slowly. Like maybe some months, you don't even drink. Plus, six pack beers are like 5 to 6 percent ABV. Hard liquor can go from 20-50% and stuff.
>>
>>7096804

Drink on the weekends mostly and I try to make my own cocktails so I end up buying lots off different liquors that I might only use once or twice a month.

Like right now I'm drinking a headless horseman which is 2oz vodka, 3 dashes of bitters, and ginger ale. pretty tasty and barely made a dent in my 1.75l of New Amsterdam Vodka.

I'd say about 95% of what i drink is home brew beer, but recently the kegerator died and while that's being rebuilt (and to pretend to be financially responsible while buying kegerator shit) i bought Costco light beer.

And let me just tell you if you're going to buy a domestic macrobrew light lager in cans, this beer is tits. Especially for the price, it was $21 for a 40 rack.

Don't really keep liquor around, one bottle of the each of the staples (tequila, whiskey, vodka, rum, scotch) not a gin drinker. I keep one bottle of mid-grade, that's woodford reserve right now.

have about 150 bottles of wine though.

>Laphroaig

It's a mixture of pleb and half-decent, depends on if I'm in the mood to sip decent liquor or get trashed with mixers.
