Daily reminder: if you put crackers and cheese in with chili you're a fucking man-child who should stick to chicken tenders and ketchup.
That is all, you may continue.

Never heard of people putting crackers in their chili. Is that a thing?
>>
Tortilla chips are fine, though. Top with a slice of jalapeño.
>>
Can someone explain how chili and cornbread mix

my cornbread is always so crumbly it breaks whenever I try to scoop my chili with it.

Cornbread is blander than the chilli and a bit sweet giving making it a counterpoint to the chillis heat and pungent flavors.

Have you tried adding more flour to your cornbread?
>>
>>7051118
I don't just put crackers in it, I put Ritz crackers in it and American Cheese ;^)

Also onions and lots of sourcream, really got to load those topping up yo.

Not him, but my basic sofrito for the beginning is garlic and onion which I cook in lard or chicken grease, with beer added from time to time to aid caramelisation, then I add cumin and a mix of green chilli powders. I use green chilli powder because it's both stronger than red and adds little colour. I have to make them myself because I can't find green chilli powders of any sort where I live.

Thereafter, it varies depending on whether I'm using bonestock and/or raw meat.

-If bonestock and raw meat, I add the meat, par-cook it, then add the bonestock and let it reduce.
-If using bonestock and cooked meat, I add the bonestock, let it reduce, then add the meat.
-If not using bonestock, I add dry beans, either chickpeas or white beans, and water and pressure cook it, then, if using raw meat, I cook the meat separately and add it after. If using cooked meat, it's also added after the beans are cooked.
Finally, I serve it up with bowls of fresh cilantro and blanched-and-shocked slices of chillies (usually jalapeño, but sometimes also cayenne), both red and green, on the table. I blanch the chillies to preserve their colour.

I only add beans if I'm not using bonestock because they'll yield a similar, full texture for the finished dish.

You people are everything wrong with /CK/ because you are too dumb to realize that all of you, despite coming together in this one instance of cheese and crackers and chillie and crying foul, have extremely little in common when it comes to everything you each individually hate and wish was purged off the face of /ck/.

In other words you guys are morons who not only would kill eachother fighting over shit even after some of the stuff all of you hate is gone, but have no respect for food in the same way tendies only people have since you have some religious conviction on how food should always be you picky fucks.

none of you are any better at stepping out of your comfort zone and not bitching than any retarded beard child you like to bitch about.

Its essentially emulating what Taco in Taco Shells is. Or Nacho chips. Or Tortilla chips.

The reasoning behind it is pretty sound.

Mixing it all together ruins everything. Fucked chili, soggy crackers, melted stingy cheese. Bleh

Learn2history

Chili was originally an ancient Mesoamerican bean stew with meat being optional IF it was available.

Though the crackers ought to be crushed and put into the bowl before the chili is ladled on top of them.

Why? Then they just get soggy. I like to put some chili on the crackers as I'm eating both, or scrunch them up and put them on top right before eating.

>>Though the crackers ought to be crushed and put into the bowl before the chili is ladled on top of them.
>Why?

You want the crushed crackers to absorb the chili flavor and if they're put on top afterward, they don't mix in well, as crackers are lighter then the chili (plus you get crumbs everywhere).
