This is what a real delicious meal looks like, it has it all, sweet, savory, salty, fluffy, crunchy, gooey

Blurry and unfocused?
>fry an egg
>sprinkle sugar on it
I'm not even meming here:
Do Americans really do this?
>>8989037

those are some really sad looking has browns. they look soggy and not crisp at all.
it's weird that this is the only widely available plain cereal. it's still selling, so obviously people like it.
why not shredded rice? shredded oats? shredded corn? shredded barley?
>>8988648
Fiber keeps you regular...
Cheerios, rice crispies, and chex are all plain and quite good. Corn flakes and wheaties are close to plain, just a light touch of sugar
>>8988648
What do you think quick-cook oats are?
When's the last time you went to good old-fashioned roadside burger stand?
They're not too common anymore, but I found one nestled away on a remote stretch of state highway. No big sign, no indoor seating, cash only. And good burgers. You just sit outside and eat and watch traffic go by, as generations did before you.
Do you have a place near you like that?
OP, there average age of people on this board is way too young to contribute to a thread like this. Good luck to you.

I stopped at one on a whim of wanderlust a few years back. Very generic, same shit-tier food you could get at a crappy diner in flyover town. The conversation was good, however. Gave another one a shot, same experience. I've yet to be let down by a food truck though.

In Germany they're very common. They often sell bratwurst over burgers but the same concept.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-4546722/Salt-won-t-heart-attack-says-scientist.html
Thoughts on the eat less salt meme? I tried doing what this dude suggests and having about 2 tsp for the last couple of days and I feel okay.
He basically says that we shouldn't believe the anti-salt kikery that we hear from (((health professionals))) because it lowers sex drive and increases weight gain and other bad shit.
I know the usual health advice is to eat less but what if it's based on shitty pseudoscience?
>>8988511
In my intro to psychology class my professor told me this story about this little boy who loooved salt, and would put loads of it on everything. One day his parents decided to limit his salt intake and he fucking died. Apparently his body wasn't processing it correctly so he needed to have more than most people.
The moral of the story is that if you like salty food you need to keep eating it or you'll literally die.
>>8988518
>psychology class
>wasn't processing it
I really feel like I'm being baited right now
>>8988518
What does that story have to do with intro. to psyche? It's a medical parable.
I'm looking for recommendations on how to vary my veggies. I eat a lot of them but would like suggestions on other vegetables to buy or other ways to cook what I already get. Wouldn't mind ideas on how to incorporate more fruit into my cooking.
Typically I'll do the following:
Broccoli
>steamed
Onion, garlic, mushroom
>in everything, but never a focus
Collard greens & kale
>raw or sautéedwith pasta or rice
Bell peppers
>usually sliced and sautéed
Brussels sprouts
>charred
I will also sometimes buy carrots, corn, zucchini, green beans, or snap peas. I feel like I could be doing so much more.
>steamed
stop
don't do this. the only time this doesn't destroy your vegetables is with carrots, because carrots are the supermen of the vegetable world
>onion garlic mushroom
k these basically aren't veggies
>collard greens/kale
>raw
why? raw isn't tasty the majority of the time. creamed kale maaaan
>peppers
peppers are fucking hackers and I know of more ways to cook/utilize peppers than the number of vegetables I know. just going to put a divider between pepper discussion and vegetable discussion
>brussel sprouts
>charred
that's your answer right there for the vast majority of getting tasty vegetables. you color them in a pan, ie. toasted to brown to charred depending on what you've got and what you need in flavor, cook them the rest of the way in an oven to tender as you need to.
so don't reserve this for just brussel sprouts. just start using other veggies- parsnips, green beans, asparagus, peas, spinach, whatever
>>8988432
Thanks for the reply.
>raw isn't tasty
Oh but boy howdy do I love my greens raw. Not sure why, but I just prefer it. I will definitely look into creamed kale; that sounds fantastic.
>>8988500
you could try something like this.
maybe mix it up with fried goat cheese medallions so it becomes like a psuedo "au gratin". would make for a good lunch I think- I like the lighter non-meat lunches sometimes
Sup /ck/. My gf usually cooks amazingly good traditional food for me and the only thing I can make is chicken tikka masala. Need some ideas and basic prep info for light romantic dinner for two.
do you want to cook for her or do you want the cooking to be a shared activity?
>>8988321
We usually cook together but this time I want to make it alone and greed her with homemade meal after she's back from work.
>>8988317
Tube steak, raw.

do white people drink this?

Mine is Italian
>>8987991
>dry herbs
SHiggy
>>8987993
Dry herbs are superior to fresh ones for a lot of things, just not with stuff like basil
>>8987996
That is 100% untrue you swine
There is a half of a handful of things dry herbs are better for than fresh herbs
So I've got some rabbit meat.....actually the entire rabbit.
Mom says we should fry it, like chicken. Is this the best way to cook it? I'm open to alternative suggestions from people who have experience preparing and eating this animal.
Stew it. Very good sub for any birria recipe
/confit/
>>8987699
This.
Make a gumbo with it and brown the meat still on the bone.
Or you could bone it out, chop it up, saute it, and serve it with pasta.
LITERALLY tastes like sun tan lotion
>inb4 scotch, jagermeister, goldschlager which all have their place in time I guess
I once bought $2 sake that tasted like moldy bread
Blue 100
Minty high proof schnapps, fuckin disgusting.
Post your poverty dining recipes
I'll start with my renowned "Iced Onion Soup"
seems like you'd be better off to just cook an onion
I can get this at my local 7-Eleven for an affordable buck fifty. What do you guys think?
I just had rotini with salsa and olive oil. It was disappointing, but palatable. I really need to go grocery shopping.
>ITT: Acquired taste
>>8987396
Literally tastes like maui onion chips with an aftertaste of corn nuts. Bizarre. Didnt like it very much w that texture
Is it an insult to the cook if you ask for salt, pepper, or condiments at a fine restaurant?
Depends on the restaurant. Like I wouldn't do that at Applebee's
Generally, yes. Otherwise the table would have spices out and the chef would have paired condiments with your course.
If you are unable to appreciate the food as is at a fine dining establishment why are you going?
Don't fucking ruin your palette by over seasoning at home or adding hot sauce to everything.
Im about to quit keto. What foods should i fill up on? I already have some churros in the freezer im going to annihilate but what other foods have the most bang for carb loading?
>mettbrötchen
I'm trying to learn German, and without outside help I recognize "brot" as bread. So I'm guessing "mett" is meat and "chen" is sandwich, so meatbreadsandwich?
>>8987043
Beer
>>8987060
hahnchen is the meat form of chicken, and hahn is for the chicken in bird form
"chen" is probably just a generic suffix for edible meat thing
