Shake Shack is the most overrated burger in NYC.

The only burger-like thing they have that's legitimately good is the Portobello burger (which has a deep fried mushroom cap filled w cheese).

Their Concretes are good too but, the burger is a huge disappointment. You can get much, much better at countless places in the city (e.g., the OG Corner Bistro location)

>i cant

someone whose had both cali and non cali in n out please tell us what makes cali better?

One is in cali, and therefore has delusional people buying it and screaming THIS IS THE BEST BECAUSE ITS IN CALI XDDD
>>
My friend once managed to convince the girl he was dating that the reason they don't have in n out outside of the west coast is because they can't get the palms outside the restaurant to grow into an x
>>
>>9020684

I don't feel too much of a difference, really. I think all I could really possibly say is that there's a better "feel" to a Cali In-N-Out because it means I'm on vacation, likely with friends, and having a burger in the nice California weather as opposed to being in Vegas or Phoenix and sweating my dick off, so I throw it in the car and drive home as fast as possible to my air conditioned house.

It doesn't look that appealing but it probably tastes good. I live in the US Midwest so we don't really have any sort of cuisine like the coasts and south do. Most food here is German/Austrian influenced (a lot of sauerkraut etc). Pic related. It's basically a wienerschnitzel burger.

Welcome egg central /ck/, ITT is everything good about eggs. please don't whine about other people's love of eggs, just post your own (in your eyes superior) egg recipes.

I'll start us off with the crispy fried egg, with the yolk still running. preferably served over a grilled cheese.

Sup /ck/,

I had some sour cream in the fridge for a few weeks too long, and it got moldy. When I dumped it, I noticed that it smelled absolutely wonderfully like blue cheese. The mold was pretty much all green, but was furry unlike the blue cheese that I can get in the stores.

Does sour cream have the right bugs in it to get turned into blue cheese? Is this what blue cheese is made from? Or was it just a coincidence, and it probably would have tasted like ass and killed me dead if I'd ated it?

Better safe than sorry you dummy.
>>
How to make cheese:

Step 1. Add rennet to whole milk.
>>
>>9020178
I don't think sour cream has enough salt in it, unlike the blue cheese base to stop bad bacteria from growing.

Ok /ck/, for lunch I will be making a burger in a pan, I'll tell you the techniques I already know/plan to do and you tell me other things I can do to make it a good burger

1. make the patty pretty flat, and push a dent in the middle
2. season with salt and pepper
3. decent amount of butter in pan on medium high heat
4. cook the burger for four minutes or so, then flip and season the other side and cook for about the same length or slightly less
5. take out the burger and let it rest, and lightly toast the buns in the pan
6. assemble with toppings, I'm probably going to use BBQ sauce

Will this be a good burger? What tips would you offer?

i don't like juicy burgers. i press them down with a spatula, and let them rest for a bit.

i don't want it to be shoeleather, but i also don't want bunch of liquid pouring out, turning the bun into a soggy mess and diluting the condiments.

How much time should it take to cook, eat, and clean a delicious, nutritious breakfast /ck/? Is it practical to do so every morning before work? My go to is a simple three egg omlette with grits and toast, but even that takes about 45 minutes from taking out the first ingredient to putting away the last greasy dish after eating. I just want warm breakfast that isn't fast food.

Also, general breakfast thread I guess, so feel free to post go to dishes and experiments.

If I mixed together the dry ingredients for pancakes and put it in the fridge overnight, would it have a bad effect on the pancakes? I'm a nazi about measuring shit out to the gram and I don't like having to do all that in the morning

10 mins top for weekdays, greek yogurt and raw oatmeal with 2 cups of black coffee
weekends 1-1:30 hours, always involving mimosas or some kind of alcohol, and if im to hungover then its brunch some where that has mimosa specials
>>
>>9019961
No, you don't even need to refridgerate it.

Just make fried eggs instead of an omelette, you could cut it down to 25 minutes.

I eat a bagel for breakfast and have a large early lunch.

People like fried chicken and people like spicy food. Makes sense really spicy fried chicken would have a following, especially in the South, where plenty of folks put hot sauce on fried chicken to begin with.

It's sweet hot, there's a load of brown sugar in the breading with that cayenne.

Besides hot food is an excuse to drink beer!
