Why did you make a thread about this, did you honestly think people would be interested enough to engage in discussion here?

No you just want a milkshake

Which foods are must buys and which ones should you avoid?

I bought two Not-Doritos (nacho and ranch) Not-Rice Krispie Treats and Not-Ho Hos.

The Doritos knock-offs are terrible. In fact, all their chips are awful. They were $1.09 and $1.49 respectively, but they could have at least TRIED to mimic the Doritos flavors.

The Ho Hos and Rice Krispie Treat knock-offs were actually pretty good. They tasted the same as the popular brand.

Aldi in America sounds fucking shit
Glad it's a lot better in first world countries
>>
always avoid the fresh meat and produce
>>
>>9036089
You have to play it by ear, sadly. Some Aldi products are very, very good. Others not so much.

For example I bought a jar of tikka masala sauce one week and it was fucking awful. But then I went back a week later and found a different jar of masala where they seemed to realize their mistake and it was quite good.

Since /ck/ doesn't have a sticky I'll ask.

What's the best tomato for making my own tomato sauce? How do I make it rich and tasty?

Also, what's the best way to remove the skins? I've heard that blanching them will remove some of the flavour.

>>
>>9035677
Leave the skins on and run it through a sieve later.
Also sugar, loads of sugar.
>>
>>9035681
Won't that remove the texture of the sauce? I'm not talking about ketchup
>>
>>9035677
Either way is fine. Blanching and removing skins is easier - that's what I do. Ignore the troll saying to dump in sugar. If you're using fresh in season Romas, which are the best for sauce, you don't need any sugar.

GMO sounds good on paper until you realize we already have perfectly good crops as it is. Real world GMO is only used for DRM. It's the agricultural version of Adobe products that you can never buy, just pay rent for over and iver, forever. Great for the IP lawyers, zero advantage for anyone else

What is /ck/'s number?

For me it depends on the cut, but on average, I like number 3. 2 sometimes, again, depending on the cut.

If I'm using my favorite sauce on it (like i would on a grocery store sirloin) then #4

If the steak is good enough to eat on its own, #3.

For me it's a 6. I actually like my food cooked instead of raw
>>
>>9026413
Those look like ass. The "rare" #2 is seared on the outside but still raw ("blue rare") on the inside.

I go for a true rare, not a "we don't know how to cook" rare.
