-2 28 oz cans of tomato (crushed is better for convenience, whole peeled tomatoes that you puree yourself will taste fresher) or equivalent of fresh tomatoes that have been peeled and pureed
-6-8 cloves of garlic
-1 large or 2 medium onions
-1 tablespoon of dry basil or 2 tablespoons of fresh chopped basil
-olive oil

Chop onion and cook over medium heat in olive oil until slightly caramelized. Use about 1/4 cup of olive oil, less if you're going to be cooking fatty meat in it.

Add chopped garlic and cook for about 1 minute just to soften it, you don't really want it to brown.

Add tomato. If using dry basil, add it now. If using fresh basil, add it just before serving.

Serve pasta with a ton of Parmesan or Romano cheese. If not using cheese, salt the tomato sauce to taste.

Optional ingredients: balsamic, fish sauce/anchovies, grated carrot, any meat.

And now that the children are done shitposting, what's better: Staub, or Le Creuset. And more importantly, why is the answer obviously Staub?

Are fried green tomatoes any good?

Anyone have a good recipe for them?

What types of sauces would accompany this dish well?

Finally, if green tomatoes aren't available can you substitute red tomatoes... is there such a thing as fried red tomatoes?

So i'm going to do a 30 days vegan to see how it goes because i'm a fat fuck and i just saw this
Any vegans here who could recommend so basic things to buy and recipes?

I'm a "junk food vegan" myself, but I do have some healthier vegan tips as well.

I really like pea, rice, and hemp protein powder. Soy is good too. Chia seeds are perfect in oatmeal and give you extra nutrients like omega 3 fatty acids, calcium, protein.

Try tofu saag - it's delicious.

Also banana and oatmeal (and you can add whatever other ingredients you want, like raisins, cocoa, or cinnamon..) mixed together and shaped into discs make good (high calorie but healthy) cookies.

Sweet potatoes sliced into discs and topped with Tony's Creole seasoning are freaking bomb.

Be aware of sugar content in things like pasta sauce, ketchup, baked beans, even things like canned corn.

Try zucchini pasta. It can be pretty delicious.

Cashews make great sauces and cheeses. Many recipes on the internet for these.

My favorite way to eat tofu is to coat it in soy sauce, rice vinegar, black pepper, and garlic powder and microwave it (so I don't have to use oil).

Avoid oil - it's high in calories and not good for you.

Will probably add more tips as I think of them. Good luck!

Just remember that a vegan diet isn't inherently healthier than a non-vegan diet, and you will have to supplement B12 if you don't want to die.

legumes rice spinach broccoli sweet potatoes spices. those are your staple foods

So I had some sugar cane juice for the first time today. I didn't even know that people drank sugar canes, that's weird as fuck.

And it just tasted like sweet orange juice, it's not even that special. Why go through all the trouble to squeeze the juices out of branches when you can just drink something that tastes better and is easier to get?

Anyways, what's some other weird as fuck drinks/food/whatever that comes from the most unexpected places?

Does anyone mind explaining to me why people blow their dick cheese over Cane's? It's just mediocre tendies with peppery Big Mac sauce, coupled with heart-clogging sweet tea and "Texas toast." Not to mention way overpriced.
One of these joints opened up in my town a year back and the police were called in to direct traffic in and out of the joint. Lardtards for miles. What gives?

I've been disappointed in almost all chicken tenders from fast food places. I like them battered like Long John Silvers and that's how I make them at home. The whole seasoned bread crumbs or flour just doesn't do it for me.

Why is the sauce guy higher ranking than the meat guy?

Why is the baking guy at the bottom?

Why is the salad guy below the guy with no actual job?

This whole thing makes no sense.

Top position says it's the highest. Brigade is a military term. Ergo it's ranked.

Unless you're telling me it's not.

>>Why is the sauce guy higher ranking than the meat guy?
Making traditional French sauces takes a lot of skill. It's one of the hardest jobs. Also, it's a lot more pleasant of a workspace than standing directly in front of a hot-ass grill cooking meats thus it's a perk for the senior cooks.

>>Why is the baking guy at the bottom?
Dunno why, but a lot of chefs look down on bakers. It's considered "not a real chef".

>>Why is the salad guy below the guy with no actual job?
The salad guy's job requires no actual cooking skill. It's just taking things and putting them on the plate. A guy that can work all the stations is much more skilled since he actually knows how to cook.

You write like a negro talks. No help for you.
>>
>>9132285
Easy.
1) Pat the chicken dry. Why? Moist meat won't brown properly. Season chicken with salt and pepper.
2) Get a pan or skillet. But a little cooking oil in it. Get it hot. Put the chicken in it.
3) Listen. It should sizzle the instant it hits the pan. No sizzle? Take the chicken out and heat the pan up some more. Is it smoking? Turn the heat down. Use those two things--the sound of sizzle and the appearance of smoke--to control your heat. It should be hot enough to sizzle like frying bacon, but not hot enough to smoke.
4) Keep cooking until the bottom side is golden brown. Now flip it and repeat for the 2nd side.
5) Stick the whole thing (pan and all) into the oven to finish cooking. How long? Depends on how thick the chicken is, but about 12-15 minutes at 350 would be a good starting point.

Have any of you ever participated in an eating contest? How did you fair?

Joey Chestnut once again kept his title of World Champion hot dog eater this 4th of July by gulfing down 72 hot dogs, which nutrion wise is

How and why are most eating champions so thin, I mean surely they practice which means they eat quite a bit. I would expect the eating champs to all be land whales?

Also do you think this Joey Chestnut fellow is gay since ya know he is so talented at throating hot dogs?

I'm tired of the same "I'm such a drink xD" threads. Lets elaborate the concept a bit. What are some good advice when it comes to drinking, for example;
>how to best drink socially without becoming too drunk
>beer, wine, booze; in which order?
>what to eat before and during in order not to ruin the night
And what I most of all want to know
>how do you cure a bad hangover?

My best tip is, when you start to get a bit too drunk, eat a hot chili or a piece of fresh ginger. It'll get you back on track.

>how to best drink socially without becoming too drunk
Stop drinking before you're too drunk
>beer, wine, booze; in which order?
I'll take questions that seem important when you're 17 for $100, Alex
>what to eat before and during in order not to ruin the night
Whatever you want. If drinking too much ruins the night, drink less
>how do you cure a bad hangover?
Wait until it's gone, wa la
