How can CK be so knowledgeable about cutlery and so retarded about coffee? you have preferences for steel alloys, damascus patterns and know what has good edge retention, etc, when REALLY a $20 wal mart knife cuts veg almost the same way.
But you all just force down shitty folgers or starbucks and you can't appreciate the nuance of finely roasted, well-extracted coffee. It's empirically better tasting, yet you call small-batch roast and pour over and pressed coffee a meme.
>bottom line is, you're all full of shit unless you can explain this to me
>>9221449
Coffee is for gaylords, good knives are for partricians
>>9221449
Buddy my 6000 dollar shun kit cuts through animals like none other. Dressing and prepping a deer use to take hours, now I can cut that shit up in 30 minutes.

Is this place any good? Is there something special they do over any other burger place? One just opened up up the street from my house and I'm considering it for dinner.
it's average and way overpriced
go try it and report back, in case one opens near me
Fries are good, the burger's alright. Probably overpriced.
Let's talk about the best chocolate candy, /ck/.
I've actually been wanting to try this. I keep seeing it at Albertson's and curiosity is probably going to get the best of me next time I go.
>>9221361
low quality chocolate that tastes like hersheys
with low quality, soft hazelnuts... also its that garbage caramel that just tastes like artificial flavored sugar.
enjoy the meme fatboy candy
also don't shop at sack of shit grocer
I went out and bought them. Gonna try them now.
Chuck eye steak
>it's cheap
>fat streaks throughout
>tastes good
Is this a great cut of steak or am I just a pleb?
Season and marinate it overnight!
>>9221207
Also, stew.
>>9221207
>>9221220
Really wonderful first posts, I wholly agree.
>>9221200
It takes more work is all, but it has other applications. You wouldn't want any other softer meat for a stew, wont release as much flavor or withstand long hours simmering.
As far as steak, like the anon said, marinate overnight, it makes a hearty slab of meat.
Soup /ck/? It's been over a month since I posted the last thread so I'm thinking that at least a few of you might have some batches finished or close to done. Anyone have anything to share?
I've started my 2nd batch ever and this time I'm using habaneros. We'll see how it goes...also hot sauce general
>pic related is the dragon breath chili @2.48 million Scoville heat units so don't ever try one
>>9221184
I'm waiting for my habaneros to ripen. They're still too small. How did you do your habanero sauce? Last year I did my tabasco with a 4% brine for 1 month and I've been very pleased. I was goig to do the habanero with some garlic this year.
>>9221307
I'm trying a 6% brine with tomatoes. I'm going to let it go for a month and then blend and strain.
I still have to figure out how to get some better peppers here. I can't find anything other than jalapenos and habaneros and I've been to several stores and farmers markets. I'm not really in a place where I can grow stuff so maybe I'll try to order something online.
>>9221344
>6% brine
Interesting. How did you decide on that high a %? Everything I've read about it seemed to indicate anything over 5 and you start risking not having the lactobacillus kickoff.
>there is actually a tick whose bite makes you allergic to beef, pork, lamb, and other red meats
Jesus fucking Christ.
Happened to my mom before doctors around here knew about it. Shit's fucked, she can't even eat out due to cross contamination.
>>9221077
I love fish and chicken, but this is nightmare mode for me.
>>9221067
is that minecraft ride?
What's /ck/'s opinion on binging with babish?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVgmI-YF16g
>>9221051
i like his content but people are sucking his dick way too much
>>9221057
How so?
>>9221051
He's decently entertaining. The babka recipe worked for me, and a friend said the lemon cake was good.
Make a better cold cut sandwich
>Protip: You can't
>>9220687
>Rolling your ham in to taquitos
If you were my wife I'd slap you if you served that. No cheese.. no tomato, get lost kid.
>>9220687
There's a pubic hair on the bread.
>whyte bread
ITT: Food which tastes better the next day.
For me, most pies taste better the next day unless it's a meat pie. Spanakopita, cheese pies, apple pies, strawberry and rhubarb pies, etc. are almost always better the next day.
I enjoy pizza and pasta cold but i dont know if i'd consider them better or about the same as when they were hot
Lasagna
Baked mac & cheese
Will you miss it?
nah
Why? Isn't it selling well? It's the only coke I can tolerate.
nigga please.
For me, it's the McChicken. The best fast food sandwich.
>>9220231
One time I asked for McChicken sauce packets and they gave me three. I said, "Wow, three for free!" and the nice friendly McDonald's worker laughed and said, "I'm going to call you 3-for-free!".
Now the staff greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me three packets. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local McDonald's restaurant, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large iced coffee with milk instead of cream, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I'm in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can match my daily nutritional needs.
I even dip my fries in McChicken sauce, it's delicious! What a great restaurant.
Would be better sandwiched in the middle of a McDouble
>>9220231
What exactly is in those things?
Saw these low carb tortillas next to the soy sauce and figured I'd give them a shot.
I know you can't tell just by the pic but I've never actually made one of these before. All the ingredients were fresh and cooked today
>I know you can't tell just by the pic but I've never actually made one of these before
Is this a ruse? It looks terrible, barely held together. Looks like a strong sneeze would unravel it all.
>>9220138
Looks choice anon, succulent veggies.
Do you have any tips for improving my ability to improvise with ingredients?
looks like veggies stuffed in a condom. i know what that wrap is, but you could exercise some dexterity.
/ck/ let's make a community account for Cook's illustrated, download all their pages and archive them.
Kimbell is a asshole anyways.
>>9219950
this is actually a good idea
I actually own a ScanSnap SV600 so i could make some high quality scans and put that shit in virtually any format including ebooks but there's a small problem.
I don't find this magazine in Switzerland.
>>9219993
wow hey you're the person i need to talk to. I mean, my friend.
My friend owns a rare book that is very desired by the internet, but no pdf of this book exists and the book is out of print
the book is worth several hundred dollars but my friend feels that this art should be shared to the internet. Is it possible to produce near-perfect scans without destroying the book? What is the best way for my friend to do this
Hey ck, just dropped in to rustle your jimmies with my awesome breakfast of avocado and egg toast on Daves Killer "Good Seed" bread. It's fucking delicious, and a perfect breakfast.
>Gee, guess I'll never be able to buy that house now!
seed bread is poor man's rye+wheat bread. Inferior in every way.
>>9219936
You couldnt be more wrong. I love pumpernickel bread, but only for certain things. Nut and Seed bread is glorious for everything. Safeway actually makes a really nice nut and seed bread.
>>9219786
Unironically doing this rn. Will post updates
