So, I bought a can of roasted eel. It was cheap, and I thought "what the hell, it's an eel sort of a day".
Turns out I don't actually know what to do with eel.
>Does it need to be cooked, or just warmed?
>Will it have bones?
>What's the flavor like?
I was thinking of sauteing it in a bit of butter and lemon, then putting it over rice.
No, it says "roasted" but that is just the inscrutible chinese way of saying "raw"
If you don't boil it for 6 hours you will die
>>7123331
Pretty sure this is the wrong website to be asking this question.
>>7123331
you can eat it out of the can, its kind of sweet and fishy, its usually paired with sweet sausages/shiitake mushrooms and steamed with rice
Got chorizo and smoked gouda for a grilled cheese. Turkey seems like it would have been mushy. What do u guys like on your grilled cheese?
Cheese.
Pesto and provolone if on sourdough on a panini.
A croissant with spinach and ricotta on a panini is delicious as well.
I like to spread some knorr stockpot on the bread.
What's the best brand of frozen bao?
What about frozen dumplings?
What else do you guys like to steam?
>>7123055
Frozen? Why would you do that? Just go to a dim sum place a get it to go.
>>7123081
My city has next to zero Cantonese population
In the US: O'Tasty. Specifically, their Tasty Selects range of dumplings.
Runner up is this Korean brand I can't remember the name of, but is fucking delicious. The pork and leek one is great and the pumpkin one (which actually tastes of pumpkin because it's not drowned out with autumnal spices) is the best frozen dessert bun, ever. Next to custard.
What do you think of this dinner, /ck/?
It's from a restaurant that will be closing soon after 66 years of service.
>>7122933
Looks like hospital food.
If all their food looks that boring, I'm not surprised that the place is closing down.
>>7122933
Not enough grease for me
>>7122933
Probably not bad if its cheap. Is that a pork chop?
>wake up
>brew and pour a pot of French Press coffee
>stir in Swiss Miss
>>7122855
Mocha is good, yes.
>>7122855
>ruining a perfectly good pot of coffee
whatever makes you happy I guess
>>7123112
Coffee is trash anyway.
I made pork stew for dinner tonight with cracklins to garnish.
What's on the menu in your house?
>>7122828
Sick to death of eating turkey 2 meals a day since Thursday, so I bought some ground beef. Will make bacon cheeseburgers. BBQ sauce, sharp cheddar, grilled onions. Probably no side item.
Just finished it so no pics (unless you want one of the as-of-yet still unwashed bowl) but thin chicken curry with broccoli and onions and slices of toasted, homemade sourdough from >>7121133/>>7121135
Gonna have steak with garlic fried rice and some sort of greens at dinner tomorrow, though. Haven't decided what greens yet. Gonna buy'em tomorrow.
>>7122844
Sounds great.
Are there people here who don't salt their food ever?
Is it possible to be repulsed by anything even slightly salty?
>Are there people here who don't salt their food ever?
Season when cooking, not at the table
>Is it possible to be repulsed by anything even slightly salty?
Yes, you fucking heathen
>>7122763
You completely missed the point you absolute retard
>>7122765
And what is the point of a shit thread?
>He unironically thinks British food is bland and has no variety
brits are good at pies - nothing else
Excellent thread
Good times, another keyword to add to my blocker list "unironically." I might block my own post, good times!
I like cucumber
I use gin for cocktails only, don't like it straight/neat/on the rocks
should I get a bottle of pic related or should I stick to the cheapest gin I can find (some €5 per bottle, lidl's copy of I can't remember what cheap gin)?
It'd cost some €30, would it be worth it?
Most people who are "into gin" can thank hendricks for their hobby, whether they will admit it or not.
It's pretty damm good, and has converted tons of people who previously thought they didn't like gin.
On the other hand, if "worth it" is in your vocabulary for a $30 liquor purchase, it probably isn't. Save your money, or sell your body to much older men who will buy you expensive drinks as a prelude to degrading dirty sex.
Everyone uses gin for cocktails only. I think you can get better gin for the price.
>>7122614
1. What's cucumber got to do with gin?
2. Hendrick's is good gin
3. Find the cheapest gin that still tastes good to you when you mix it; it's a matter of taste
3a. Have fun experimenting
what are you having for dinner, /ck/?
>>7122497
Pork stew, just put it on the heat actually.
Waiting 1.5hrs for it to be done.
>>7122547
same
Is that cream cheese on crackers? Yum.
pic related was my dinner.
What should I get from the Chinese spot, family
Twice cooked pork, steamed dumplings and white rice
Pepper beef with a tomato added, steamed rice, crab cheese wontons, and hot and sour soup.
Spicy pork intestine
Tofu with minced pork
Dumplings
Boiled fish in chili oil
Is drinkware /ck/?
I want to talk about places to get good coffee mugs.
Thrift store. Find the thickest mother fuckers
>>7122492
Definitely want something thick. Handmade would be awesome, but I know that's probably asking too much.
>>7122481
Good thread op. I have difficulty finding a coffee mug I like. I want one big enough to fit a pot of coffee without looking ridiculous or having a stupid saying on it like "don't talk to me before I've had my morning coffee"
>tried cooking for the first time
>made scrambled eggs
>tasted like shit
How do you not give up in the beginning of learning to cook
>>7122441
I just started and made some really shitty fucking french toast. Just keep going man, we'll all make it.
>>7122441
What went wrong?
It's okay, eggs are cheap.
Because you're fucking hungry. Start watching cooking shows, m8. Not the reality tv bullshit. Actual people cooking and talking about what they're doing
Is it worth it? I was considering buying it for myself for my birthday next week.
Dom PĂ©rignon Brut Vintage Champagne 2005
$220
>>7122409
It was bought out by Moet a few decades ago, since...it's become the same pleb tier swill and not worth the money.
Crystal is also garbage water overhyped by swaggy rappers.
Veuve Cliquot Demi-sec is drinking well right now, as is Perrier Jouet, Krug and Iron Horse brut (California, USA).
Don't buy into the hype, get some well made sparkling wine instead of getting ground up in the rumor mill ot mediocrity.
>>7122409
Get a bottle of Bulleit Rye and spend the rest on the horses
>drinking rapper champagne
>in the present year
Do you drink much champagne?
Yes: Then you should know better
No: Then it's wasted on you anyway
Grower champagne is cheaper, better, and more ethnically acceptable
>people legitimately think Asian food is better in Asia
I can 100% guarantee you that Vietnamese food is literally the same everywhere
It's objectively not, ingredients will differ from place to place
At least in the United States, Vietnamese food is prepared in a place that has food safety regulations.
The last time I was in Cambodia, I ate some things that would have resulted in a multi-million dollar class action lawsuit. But then again, I've never been to a Cambodian restaurant in the US that had a halfway decent prahok.
>>7122465
I haven't been to a Cambodian restaurant in the US that made anything resembling the food I ate in Cambodia, and I lived in an area with a pretty big population of immigrants.
