Why do they charge sit down restaurant prices when they offer fast food quality?
Because people pay what they charge so they can get away with it.

>sit down restaurant
Blimey....
I recently got married and would like to start cooking meals for me and my husband. Problem is - I don't know how to cook. I've attempted recipes before but something always goes wrong - it either doesn't taste good, or gets burned, or the timing is off...etc. If you have any cheap, easy, healthy, and most importantly - foolproof recipes, can you please share them? Also, do you have any cooking tips for beginners? Thanks!

Start liking soups and stews. Dump things in pot and heat, basically idiot proof.

>me and my husband
Why did your Husband marry someone who can't into grammar?
On a more serious note: Casseroles. You really can't fuck these up beyond, maybe, incorrectly doing the flour (you could leave it out if extremly worried). If you're in the UK or another country which has them finding a good butcher will help but otherwise make sure to go for a fattier cut of meat.
>>7267198 has a good basic guide in it (though I'd put it in the oven personally). A good enamelled cast iron pot will help immensely.
Other options are your basic bolognase/ragu. You'll find plenty of recipes for this but you're looking for simplicity not authenticity (i.e. no milk or faffing about with liver etc). The best advice for this is not to use spaghetti (use the shells) and not to overcook the pasta.
Why don't more stores do this?

Because cold doesn't rise up, that meat should be below the surface of that freezer for that to work.
Also probably unsanitary because other people tend to be unsanitary.
>>7269607
because white people are afraid of touching/being close to/look at uncooked meat. they prefer their meat to be unrecognizable as an animal

>cold doesn't rise up
American detected.
What does /ck/ put on their fries?
Anchoïade.

Trust me. It's like the coziest thing ever. it's not like it's drinking peppers or something. It just has a nice pleasant little tingle to it almost like a citrus tingle, without the citrus. It's a perfect cold weather tea.
>muh artists drank it
>muh special spoon and sugar ritual
>muh I'm smart enough for this unlike normal people attitude
This is the actual fedora beverage, right? I took 3 shots and I don't feel any odder than I normally do with shots.
The problem is in most countries is the real absinthe, mit thujone, illegal. So its nothing diffrent to any other high % alcohol. You need to order from eastern europe and then you will deffinatly feel diffrent.

It is a drink. Enjoy the novelty or drink it straight from the bottle. Nobody asked you to be a little fucking bitch because of your inferiority complex.

My lunch today.
One thing I'll give them: their condiment selection tops everyone except Chick-fil-A.

"Didn't Southpark do this bit?"
Does this actually happen or is it just a south park joke?
I decided it's time for a nice whisky thread.
To start post your favourite.
Mine is Talisker 10 yo because I'm coming out of an Irish whiskey period and the heavy peat tastes so goddamn good.
>>7267214
That stuff is really nice, don't be tempted to buy the Storm as it is a lighter version.
I like Lagavulin 16, but Aberlour 10 is a very nice cheap daily drinker.
Best I have tasted I think would have to be Highland park 18.
>>7267283
op here, Lagavulin 16 is probably my second favourite. Never had Highland park as I had heard their quality has gone down quite a bit, was it just rumour?
>>7267214
over christmas I had a bottle of pic related. Really full flavoured and complex. One of the best I've had.
What is your favorite traditional American fare, /ck/?

Hey mom
Post your favorite brew method, beans, roasters etc.
Going through the yirga from Happy Mug at the moment. Pretty gud.
I don't know why people get autistic about brewing methods. You just stir a teaspoon of your favorite brand into boiled water, then add some milk. It's so fucking easy, and as good as if not better than anything you get from a cafe.
fuckit whatever

What's your cup of tea?
a cup of Earl Grey, a true gentleman's drink.
>>7254787
>using a capsule infuser
You gotta let the leaves slow dance with the water, it's more than just infusion. There's a spiritual aspect to it that most care not to enjoy.
>>7254787
I'm a poor fuck, so I buy the cheap generic black tea. I assume its orange pekoe. I also buy cheap generic green tea for a non black tea alternative.
I plan to someday grow my own tea plant so I can have some fresh prime cuttings right off the plant, but that day is not today.
Something really gross and cheap when you were desperate/lacking ingredients/poor
This is my first thread, sorry if I misinterpreted the rules in any way

>you can't undo the waffle taco
Taco bell will never be able to live that shit down. You can bring back the frito burrito, I don't give a shit. Trying to make a waffle into a tortilla should have made the CEO forcefully take a football in his ass.
Frozen fries i found outside the bag in the chest freezer with gravy granules when I was a student.
>>7250388
>implying the waffle taco isn't a great idea
why?
I'm looking at getting the annual challenge rolling in March, along the same schedule as last year. So this thread serves a few different purposes.
> Community Interest
I want to know if there's interrest for the challenge still. If there's only 4-5 people interrested it's a lot less fun.
If you're new to /ck/ and want to check past years, they are collected on the blog at : http://ckchallenge.blogspot.ca/
> Got a round theme suggestion?
Make it here! I will be tallying them up. I will post the themes from previous years in a reply.
>Want rules to be changed?
Make your suggestion here, please.
>Want to volunteer to offer a prize?
I am broke. And while it is my pleasure to devote the man hours to running the challenge, unless some generous anons step in the only prize this year will be bragging rights. You can sponsor a round (usually round prizes are cookbooks) or the final prize (last year was a custom embroidered apron and a trophy).
If you're interrested in sponsering something send me an email : bubbleburst.challenge [at] gmail.com
If I do get aprons made this year, sponsors can also order one for themselves.
>Want to help behind the scenes?
In case I get ill or have to be out of town and out of the Wi-Fi reaches of the Internet you'd get sent a copy of the Google Docs for points tally.
>>7240358
Forgot my name. I'm off to a great start in perfect form >_<
Anyways, here are the themes from the past years.
>>7240358
I work a rotating schedule, so count me out because I have like a week and a half of night shift every month and don't cook during those times, but as far as prizes go...why not have like a pool?
You pay like a buck or so on paypal to get in, and the OP buys the grand prize, which is sent to the winner.
Just an idea; probably would take more trust than is generated by 4chan though.
Holy shit, /ck/ challenge is back?!
>tfw confused when posters like bubble only use a name names in the challenge, but are apparently otherwise still here
