Hey /ck/ first time poster.
I've lurked for quite a while now. But I have a question. I'm getting quite interested in cooking and shit. Are there any online tutorials that will teach me the basics? I'm not really quite sure what the basics are come to think of it.

I'm new to this board but I'm quite enjoying it so far. Today I want to discuss the various fast food burgers available on the market and what makes each one unique.
I for one LOVE McDonald's take on the burger. Only Big mac and quarter pounder tier though. Obviously the dollar menu burgers suck.
Perhaps it's because I'm 100% Murica raised but I even prefer McDonald's processed burgers over fresher or more quality burgers you might find at a more legitimate restaraunt. What makes the McDonald's burgers so good? How are they diferent than other burgers?
Do you have a favorite brand of Burger?

When I was in Bali a few years ago, I went to one of the places where they keep the poor rat-things and force them to eat the coffee beans.
It looked awful for the rat-things and the end result is shit coffee. Truly the worst luxury item I've ever seen.

What this guy said. Although the coffee is pretty good if it's done right. It depends on who's roasting it, and how soon after roasting you manage to get to it.
Most of the stuff they sell in those rat-thing farms was roasted god knows when and ground into dust about 3 months ago, though.

Op, I don't think that's right. You're supposed to get the oil of the pot/thc out of the plant, make butter with the oil, THEN make whatever food. Hell, even toast. Not speaking from first hand experience though.

Carmelizing onions in a pressure cooker was floating around the Web in this article today: http://www.seriouseats.com/2016/01/the-food-lab-pressure-cooker-caramelized-onions-onion-soup.html.
Anyone ever do this? I finally learned how to properly carmelize but it takes so long that the pressure cooker seems like a great idea. I don't eat dairy so I also want to know if you think this would work with olive oil or coconut oil? I don't ever buy vegan butter just because I usually don't go for vegetarian substitutes but if need be I could try that.

I was served bad, not-fresh sushi few months ago at some shitty oriental hipster sushi bar.
The food was so bad that I proceeded to the bathroom with the menu and made a shit right on the centerfold, folded the menu and handed it over to some old people and told them to enjoy their meal.
