If i take tiny bites, it's sweet and juicy. But if I take big bites it's styrofoam
>>9379121
because of the fiber. Think of it like a steak. You cut steak against the grain to avoid long fiber chains that make it more difficult to chew.
What's grain?

yeah I bet you know what styrofoam tastes like, ralph

People will come Raymond. If you build it, people will most definitely come.
So /ck/ im in a bit of a conundrum.
I got a medium sized circular loaf of home made bread.
I got some home made tomato based sauce too.
I want to make one of those sandwiches where you hollow out a loaf and then fill it with meats, cheeses and sauces, and then compress it for about an hour.
Problem is, I got no meats (bar some prosciutto and salami) or cheeses (bar parmesian). What do you guys recommend?
I was thinking chorizo and mozzarella? Or perhaps some sort of pepperjack and ground beef? Any recommendations welcome.
>>9378397
If you're limited by what you already have, then tell us what you already have. I might do the chorizo and pepperjack.
>>9378484
Sorry, meant to write
"I was thinking of buying chorizo..."
So I'm mostly asking for recommendations on what to buy to put in this thing
>>9378397
If it were me, I'd probably either go the ground beef and pepperjack, or pastrami, turkey and gouda
What does /ck/ think of it?

I think it's one of the best shots out there

>Anodized Aluminum
Please Anon STOP. Don't spend $160 on a single-layer aluminum cookset. They will get too hot too fast and won't hold their temperatures as long when you are introducing food onto them which will inhibit maillard reactions. You want to buy an all-clad design of 2 layers of stainless steel sandwiched between a layer of aluminum. The stainless steel portions add thickness and durability while moderating the heat transfer of the aluminum core from your cooking element and then evenly distributes it across the bottom and up the sides of your cooking vessel. The cheap designs currently available last I checked were the Tramontina Tri-ply & Cuisinart Multiclad Pro lines.

Cookware sets in general are a scam in that they tend to throw in a bunch of low quality "filler" pots and pans, where you really only need a few high-quality ones that you can piece-meal together for less. Basically a 12" skillet, a small sauce pan, dutch oven, and a non-stick pan is all you really need. Read these (especially the first one):

Trying to come up with a mealplan with some random shit. My wife and I were subscribed to some "farm to table" thing that delivered produce to your door. We forgot to cancel it and it sent us one last box with a bunch of shit that I'm not sure how to use.
We're trying to come up with a mealplan for the week and I'd like to use some of this stuff in it. I need some recipes that incorporate some of the following:
Romaine Lettuce
Kale
Carrots
Sweet and Sour Sauce
"Super Curry Sauce" whatever the fuck that is
We fucking hate salads hence our aversion to just salad-ing our way out of that leafy green shit. Any ideas? We're about to go grocery shopping so we aren't limited to JUST these things.
>>9377917
Sauted kale and onion is solid especially if you add some broth. Carrots and sweet and sour can be a thing if you chop the carrots before cooking. Romaine is good as a garnish if you hate salad, use it on a burger or under a plating of something else. Curry is for faggots, throw that shit away.
>>9377936
Thanks mate
>Sweet and Sour Sauce, Super Curry Sauce
You should have joined a farmers COOP where you get weekly boxes of locally grown, sustainable in season produce only instead of some con artist version where they include "sauces." No fucking farmer has time to be making sauces during the growing season. Your wife and you sound like some dingy hipsters who want to join a trend but don't understand the fundamentals and get P.T. Barnum'd. Fucking faggots give a bad name to a good thing.

I'm on a goddamn budget here, and it doesn't seem to want to toe the line. We're all on the same team, but the liver wants to keep playing the douche refereree.

I'm about to eat Cuban food. I rarely eat hispanic food. So I have little to no knowledge. I love Cuban sandwiches, however, last time I visited this place, I didn't like the sandwich, the pork was too dry. This is supposed to be a popular spot, and I want to give it the benefit of the doubt, that perhaps they do better with actual cuban dishes.
Im in the mood for something with beef. Nothing liquidy or saucy. Definitely want rice and fried or yellow plantains(if they have it)
I basically want something they definitely won't fuck up. Thanks ni/ck/as!

You must have been in some tourist place like Varadero. I didn't see any Cuban sandwiches there, it's a Florida regionalism named for Cuban immigrants, it's not a real Cuban thing

Holy shit, how are falafela so delicious? There's really no point eating meat anymore.
Theyre magically delicious but not a replacement for meat.
>>9377532
Falafels are great, but whoever decided they're a meat substitute needs to be slapped in the clit. They provide a lot of fat and carbs and a tiny amount of protein. And before you start shrieking about muh keto, macronutrients are macronutrients, that but the idea that you can just sub them out in any meat based dish is 1970s Moosewood Cookbook tier retardation, and nutritional ''''advice'''' along those lines is why so many people suck at cutting back on meat intake. If you're shooting for a similar macro ratio as a balanced diet that includes meat, you need to stop thinking of stuff as being a "meat substitute" just because it's fried, or brown, or whatever, and you need to overhaul your entire approach to meal design
>>9377532
OP you are correct on both counts.
Can you make a sourdough with all purpose flour instead of bread flour? Because I just started one with all purpose flour instead of bread flour.
>>9377497
Yes, it won't be "right," but will still be identifyable as bread and tasty enough.
Just saw Chef John's new video, eh?
It made me want to bake some as well. I'm a decent enough cook but I can't bake for shit. I should work in it, dough.
>>9377536
Yeah.
I researched it and some people put grapes in the starter, I don't have any grapes so I didn't. Thanks for reading!
