Subway's attempt to rebrand themselves away from the child molester Jared Fogel is a joke. Trying to go retro and model their brand as a real restaurant. Haha.

I worked there. The only fresh ingredients are tomatoes, onions and green peppers. The other stuff is canned or packaged in plastic.

Yeah, I had worked at both Subway and BK and was surprised to find out Subway uses bagged lettuce. Even BK would get in fresh heads of lettuce to chop up.

My Subway store was atrocious at thawing things and would constantly use the neighboring foodstall's industrial steamer to "thaw" things and would end up cooking the shitty frozen beef even more. Our store would also freeze bread to use three days later.
It was gross.

The instructions on this say to add 2 lbs. of meat and an 8 oz. can of tomato sauce.

Even if you like to sautee onion, add diced tomatoes or beans, etc. you should try this at least once. Just do it, man. I really wonder how many of you bean guys have ever done this. You might find yourself changing teams.

It was fucking good. Sure, it's just a bowl of meat, but so are some ribs or grilled chicken. Serve it with some cold, sliced tomatoes from the garden and saltine crackers.

I don't think I'll ever add beans or tomatoes to chili again. I'll probably sweat an onion, though. The tiny can of tomato sauce was a nice addition, but I might try to subtract that too.

Next stop: buy dried chilies and make my own chili paste.

>saltine crackers
so eating stale salty crackers is better than beans? does anyone actually eat a bowl of meat sauce with nothing else or everybody who complains about beans eats it with crackers?

>restaurant has burgers on the menu
>offers chips instead of fries

I don't get this. I've been to several places where this is the case. Does offering chips instead of fries elevate them to being more trendy? I understand if you're getting a sandwich, but if I'm buying a burger, I want my fucking fries.

>"Replace chips for french fries for an additional $2"
I saw this at a fucking sports bar

A little bag of chips is practically free to restaurants. Fries require maintaining the oil, a proper hood for ventilation and in some place require the person to be over 18 to operate.

I worked at a restaurant and you had to pay extra for fries, but a bag of chips would come with the burger.
>>
>>7304489
The only time it was justified in my eyes was when the restaurant made their own chips in-house. They were a lot thicker than regular bag chips. But otherwise, yeah. Give me fries instead of weak ass chips.
>>
>>7304521
OP here. Yeah I worked at a fast food place when I was in HS and handling the oil/maintaining the fryer was a pain in the ass.

What I'm talking about are "sit down" restaurants, where the kettle chips are served next to the burgers and not already in a bag. I hope the bag of chips wasn't opened prior to being served?

Then again, chips=1 potato(?) whereas fries require 2?

Help guys, I am somewhat retarded and put a pan on the stove, then left for 5-10 minutes and came back and my pan was completely stuck to the hot stove. i pulled it off but bent the pan and a tiny amount of the bottom came off onto the stovetop....I cant seem to get it off no matter what I do, any advice on this?

do at your own risk: turn off stove, put a few icecubes in the pan.

Hi, /ck/

I'm not a regular here so apologies if this is a topic that comes up a lot, but I've just bought a gas BBQ and I'm looking for some recommendations on cookbooks and guides for bbq cooking.

I've never really used a BBQ much before so I'm ideally looking for something intended for beginners that hopefully includes stuff about what temperatures to use, grill vs hotplate, how to add wood chips for smoking stuff, etc.

Anyone got any good suggestions?

Someone help this feller out.
>>
>>7302425
For starters, get a nice thermometer to place on your grill when cooking. Secondly, start off with burgers and hotdogs, something cheap, to get a feel for any hot or cold spots. Beyond that barbecue isn't particularly complex, it just requires patience and a little attention. Make sure to get an actual meat thermometer too.
>>
>>7302468
That's a good start, thanks.

Anyone else got some input?

>Curry Ketchup
So sick of fucking meme-sauce
"Urhhmurghhhhddd Curry is deh berrsst ebberrr!"

Yeah sure, it is a spice and the people who most often use it are an anemic bunch of underweight manlets who can't stop themselves from shitting in the streets. Lets add Curry to everything so we can all smell like shit and openly defecate!

Curry is fine for when you want to have an occasional "different" meal and feel "cultured" but fucking adding it to all this shit like "curry wurst" "Curry ketchup" ect. should be punisheable by death.

Every German that enjoys "Curry Wurst" should be executed, then again the people living in Germany nowadays are barely German to begin with (Atleast how the definition was 60 years ago, I know now adays the "German" people are a brown skinned primarily Muslim people group living in the largely Islamic continent of Europe. Surrounded by the relics of the mysterious lost people of Proto-Germanics.).
