Pork loins were buy one get one at publix this weekend so i decided to buy some for the first time. I experimented with two different recipes. One involved a barbecue, honey, sriracha marinade and the other involved a brine with salt, pepper, brown sugar, honey, worcestershire, and garlic.
I butterflied the larges loins and cooked them on the stove top so that they were just cooked through. My experience was very meh both times.
I don't see myself ever buying pork again. Do you guys actually eat this shit? Did I fuck up?
Pork chops are shit.
A pork loin greater than a kg can be nice if cooked properly. The leaner cuts of pork though, they are much easier to over cook.
When this happens, its dry as fuck.
Pork loin isn't bad, you just need to make sure you pull it out after it hits 145 degrees.
Don't waste your time with chops.

I like pork chops anon.
Yeah, I know you are supposed to only cook with what you drink, but I don't drink much/at all. What are some reasonable reds and whites I should keep on stock that are affordable in price (no more than 20 USD a bottle) and easily availible in a large city?
Just the cheapest dry red or white. having a bottle of marsala wine and cheap brandy is always handy too!
TAWNY PORT
depends what you're cooking
cheap doesn't matter it's been proven many times that nobody can really tell the difference unless there is something terribly wrong with the wine
read the label .. "pairs well with" should give you a good indication of what will work best with what you're cooking
Rate my Georgian eggs ck
Made with rib eye and bratwurst
Fried potatoes and tomatoes on bottom
RATE MY FUCKING GEORGIAN GODDAMN EEEEEGGGGGGGGSSSSSSSS!

I've been eating 1500 calories a day to lose weight. I'm surprised how easy it's been.
I eat things like hard boiled eggs, cans of tuna, whole wheat bread, grilled chicken breasts, brown rice, steamed broccoli, vegetable soup, vegetable and chicken curry, greek yogurt, raisins, instant oatmeal, etc.
Anyone else on a calorie restricted diet? On a side note, are Morning Star burgers any good? They've got about 1/3 the calories of beef. I'm thinking about trying the veggie burger at Burger King tomorrow without the fries. It's 310 without mayo or ketchup. 390 with.
>>7330672
Morning Star's "chicken" patties are really good.
I don't call it a diet, it's just the way i eat, but yes, i try to stay under 2K kcals a day, it's really not hard if you use portion sizes and eat good food.
I spent a while training myself with MyFitnessPal and a scale, and now i just estimate. unsuprisingly, i eat a lot like the reccomended guidelines: lots of veg and fruit, lean meats, healthy fats and a moderate amount of grains. Beef or chicken tea is a great snack; sometimes that and an apple get me through till dinner.
Morning Star burgers are decent, but I like Boca brand ones a lot more.
I am also restricting at 1500. I weigh everything now, so portion control saves me a lot of calories and makes keeping under 1500 hella easy.
What's your favourite hot booze, laddies?
I have a cold and I'm drinking hot grog (one part dark rum, two parts hot water, teaspoon of cane sugar, juice of half a lemon and a dash of angostura bitters).
>>7328870
I need some inspiration, kinsmen.
You'd recover faster if you didn't fill yourself with booze.
But dissolve one part brown sugar into two parts each of dark rum and lemon juice. Put the lemon skins in, apply a flame let it burn for a bit, then extinguish and allow to simmer for about ten minutes.
You can also use brandy instead of rum, or blend the two.
mulled mead
It's time for a Wifey Material thread.

I like pic related since they're cheap and taste alright. If I got some extra cash, I'll get a decent local brand (Wisconsin).
I just got given 5lbs of packaged garlic butter.
What can I use it for aside from garlic bread?
Lube.
>>7334801
Fuck I love garlic, I love butter, and I especially love them together.
Try making it into sauces for pasta, to put on steaks, salads, etc. Just chuck the stuff in a pan with some oil and water, stir it, then pour it over things. Add extra herbs for whatever taste you want. Parsley goes well.
>>7334817
Good idea, thanks anon.
I thought about trying to make chicken kiev or garlic fries.
Do you think it would freeze for a month or two?
So my fridge was farely empty, I decided to make this bag of lentils. I started with some bacon, and I've some garlic and onion, a carrot and some cilantro.
And this is only the second time I've ever made lentils, can they be toasted like rice? Or is it a bad idea?
Cooking that bacon. Applewood smoked is my fave
Sorry bout the sideways pics. Saved half that fat, and I'm about to put the garlic in the pan with the rest
Pretty sure lentils will just disintegrate if you try and saute them after simmering.
What's the secret behind a good luther burger?
How do you usually cook it?
>>7334609
>What's the secret behind a good luther burger?
Being black.
Fuck I could go for a good glaze right now.

what is this brand new forced meme trying to convey?
Nowadays I have a lot of free time between classes, so I thought that I might as well use this time and learn to cook, also because I need to get healthier. What are some nice resources for complete beginners like me?
I started watching Ramsay's Cookery Course but I doubt I can find many of the ingredients use there and it also looks way too complicated for someone who knows zero about cooking, but if that's the only way I guess I'll bite the bullet.
well shit i didn't know you can't spoiler here, i'm new here

My advice would be to buy 1-2 kitchen appliances that can make certain jobs in the kitchen MUCH easier. My key appliance is my rice cooker. If i wanted spaghetti and breads I would have bought a kitchen aid.
After that think of all of your favorite foods that you get from restaurants. Google/youtube easy <insert favorite food here>. Skimp out on ingredients that you think could be option if you are on a tight budget. Then you realize that cooking most dishes is simple as long as you have the ingredients and are cooking for yourself / not a customer.
I really learned everything from youtube. I found youtube recipes much easier to follow than text recipes. I also always watch youtube on 1.25-1.5x speed.
I am still learning a lot but now that I have some ingredients stocked up like salt, pepper, cayenne, garlic, ginger, canola oil, sriracha, soy, teriyaki, bbq sauce, worcestershire, fish sauce, honey, sugar, breadcrumbs, mustard, flour, i can do almost anything I want without having to buy too many ingredients.
Every week when i go to the grocery store i try to add one more pantry item that can be used to potentially deepen other recipes.
>>7334755
Buy a blender and blend tasty ingredients. There ya go anon.
My Aunt got me these for my birthday because she knew I liked to cook, anybody know some good recipes?
>not sure if false flag or jack posters are actually retarded
>>7334443
Ok cool!
I know this really good recipe for pulled pork. If you cook it the right way, the meat will be so moist and tender that it will just pull apart and you can use a fork to shred it. It's beautiful!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItcgIIGeFnc
Pour all 4 of them in a blender and throw in 16 avocados and ranch dressing. Dont turn on the blender just take it all out after then squish it cranberry style with your feet. Probably the best banana dipping sauce I've ever made.
something gone bad in the fridge? left out those leftovers? post itt.
I recently had some black berries get moldy. I wanted to eat them :(

>it's pretty tasty
>bring it to work in a plastic container with a lid that has an okay seal
>put it in my locker
>it gets pushed to the back on the top shelf
>forget about it
>slow day an unfathomable amount of time later
>decide to clean locker
>find container
>what the fuck is this?
>it has become a worm metropolis
>bottom layer is all worms and trial mix bits
>top two thirds are a huge silk structure
>hundreds of worms wigglin around doin worm things
