Hey /ck/, i wanna make some teriyaki today and have no recipe at all. Help me out with tips or share suggestions.
I plan on making the sauce and marinating fine slices of tenderloin for like half and hour only and then cooking it along with paprika, pepperoni, scallions and carrots and then serve with rice.
Any improvements?
soy sauce brown sugar ginger garlic
you really dont need to marinate the beef / chicken / pork for a good stir fry
just cook it slow so it remains tender and then mix the meat in with the vegetable/sauce combo when they are ready
i used to flip out over how to marinate the right way and was never quite satisfied. turns out you really dont need to

Okay, i was thinking about not doing it too since tenderloin already is tender to begin with.
I want the vegetables to remain crispy and fresh but a little cooked, ill mix it in a minute or two before its done i guess
>>7389173
Ill use some honey and ginger too since i have it on hand. Also what difference in taste does red wine do over Sake?
I'm going to buy ostrich meat today. What am I in for?

Add/move shit around let's try to get something comprehensive
I would lower martha stewart personally if we are talking about online. Her books are fine and I've actually made her wedding cake from the baking with julia book. But many of her online recipes seem untested and/or shitty.
Where does Alton Brown stack up?
Thanks for the list :)

Finecooking is nice too.
Does anyone else ever steal food from the walk in fridge at work?
>>7385432
I used to bring home packets of bacon I'd hide in my work pants.
>>7385432
No but I usually face fuck the faggots who own iPhone's in the walk-in at work
I used to do prep at Rafferty's.
I'd devour the pulled pork every day as it was chilling in the walk-in. Mmmmmmmm.
What does /ck/ eat before bed?
About to get comfy but I'm starving and could use some inspiration
I usually take a country fried steak as a nightcap before bed on weekdays. It helps me sleep without waking up multiple times a night.

cereal
Lobster tail, white wine, t-bone steak and bananas foster.
Experiences with Jerusalem Artichokes?
I hear they cause major ass fumes.
>>7383926
I've had them several times, never noticed any particular fart issues as a result.
They're not worth the trip.

You should experience what's oozing out of my ass then.

Why aren't you a registered dietitian yet, /ck/?
>get paid to sperg over what people eat
>get to build people diet and nutrition plans based on their needs
>work in a clinical environment with tons of qt wimmin
>plenty of job growth
>tons of jobs everywhere
>only requires a bachelor's degree + internship
No one would hire an obese dietician

Lose weight then
It's not hard, it's actually quite simple
Eat fewer calories than your body takes in
You don't even have to exercise
>>7389816
drop the weight cause being ex-fatty might help you get a job. you can develop some sob story about how you used to be a fatty but found an escape in nutrition and now want to help other people and all that mumbo jumbo.
Uh,question if I boil vegetables in milk will the milk then gain the vegetable flavor and then be able to be used as a kind of sauce?if yes will it be good or just plain gross?
Sounds nasty. Wtf you makin op
>>7389671
You could, but it would probably taste like ass.
If you want to do something like that, just make some vegetable stock.
>>7389677
I'm not making anything I just wanted to know, I just love milk and wanted to try something new.
Hey /ck/

Basically, pick a recipe with simple ingredients. I'd say no more than 4 ingredients not counting oils and seasonings. Try cooking it. If you screw it up, eat the probably still edible failure, make notes on what was wrong, ask questions here, and try again.
Eventually you'll learn what flavors pair well, what herbs and seasonings go with what. Just keep doing it. It's not a book skill, it's a skill learned through trial and error.
Eventually you'll be able to take a recipe, make logical substitutions and additions, and even freehand based on what you have on hand.
Good luck. It's probably the most useful skill you can have after basic literacy.

I forgot the other big thing newbies mess up. You can never uncook something. Lower heat for longer allows you to reach your desired doneness without overcooking. Exceptions are made for searing and broiling.
In terms of culinary uses, is there a big difference between sugar and honey? What I mean is that adding a little sugar to your meat makes it more tender, but does honey have the same effect? Or do you really need sugar for that?
God damn.
Even non-shitposting threads go completely retarded during 'straya hours.
idk what to say, even wiki would say that honey and HFC syrup are chemically the same. use your intuition and try
also that was way too much fucking cayenne pepper. is he trying to empty out the building?

for some reason i really dislike authentic maple syrup.

what is the best store bought tomato sauce?
>>7383143
the one self-made of fresh, store-bought tomatoes
This is the only one I haven't hated. Usually jarred sauce tastes like slightly less sweet ketchup with basil.
