I'm ready to start living the bentou lifestyle.
What are your favorite bentou hacks?
Im looking for a bento box, it cant be pinku (thats japanese for pink) or any girl color. It has to be of 2 or more kotoba (thats japanese for 2 compartments) and has be be chibi (small) sized. And has to be really kawaii (cute). Also It has to be about 10-20 bux. And you have to post pics of it first (i want to make shure it's kawaii [cute]). And it would be nice if it came with matching chopstick holder (WITH chopsticks). OH! and it CANNOT have any cartoon pictures, or be made out of plastic. It has to be made of ceramic, or something like that. Also it would be nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (korea) or whatever. I have found a bento box similar to the one im describing in e-bay, but it was 1 kotoba, and i dont want my gohan (rice) to touch my other things (it can get wet and i would not like that, plus 2 compartments looks more kawaii)

Is there anything to do with this other than liver and onions?
fuck I love liver! You can make it into pate (chopped liver) or put chopped eggs in your liver and onions with olive oil, pepper, and garlic powder. Another good alternative to plain liver with onions is to grill it and then cube it. Also, chopped liver wontons? I don't think that's the right term but basically liver in dough

Liver terrine?
>>7395236
Chopped liver, if you mean the traditional Jewish deli dish, is typically made with chicken livers.
when's the last time you had a hot, crispy panzerroti fresh from the fryer?

I'm honestly fucking tired of buying fucking salsa. It's like $4 per jar, and is barely enough for one bag of chips.
Please post your favorite, preferably cheap salsa recipes.
>>7394201
>barely enough for one bag of chips.
Maybe if you're a fat fuck American
closer to relish than salsa but a 400g tin of chopped tomatoes, 50g of balsamic vinegar, enough brown sugar to take the edge off the vinegar, add chopped chillis and garlic, reduce on a low heat.
A bunch of Roma tomatoes
Two jelepenos and one serrano
A few tomatillos if you have access, if not don't worry about it
One white or yellow onion
Garlic, a lot
Cilantro
Lemon or lime, lime is traditional
Salt and pepper
Boil, roast or grill all the vegetables, beside the cilantro, until tender
Blend them
Thin it out with some tomato sauce or reserved boiling liquid (this why I boil it)
Salt, pepper, clilantro and lime to taste
You can go crazy and add some chipotle peppers or different kind of peppers. There really isn't a science to it. Just make it how you like it.
What goes good on, and with swordfish?

A sweet and subtly spicy mango salsa on top, with a side of wilted greens and pan-roasted baby red potatoes.
>>7394025
I usually just do salt, pepper and a little lemon juice. Maybe a side of asparagus.

Those are saiflish.
What cheese should I use for my melt?
All the cheese.

I know I'm American but I just don't roll like that
Whatever I'm hungry let's get started
>Never made Ratatouille before
Blown away by how close this tastes to meat
I added a touch of smoked paprika and it's even closer.
How can I make it taste even closer to meat?
What are some spice combos that turn veg into meat?
All meats taste different from one another though...

Add a little msg, it's my wife's boyfriends mother's not so secret ingredient.
try a tiny amount of bootstrap molasses or ginger. both create much earthier flavors in small amount. molasses is very bloodlike in nature
I need some advice /ck/
I'm a single soldier living in the barracks and I would like to start making my own food. I was only given a fridge and a microwave so I plan on most likely getting a toaster oven and a crockpot this upcoming weekend. What else would you recommend on getting for a "starter" kitchen of sorts, as well as simple foods that I can make regularly?
The shakshouka image is not entirely relevant
>>7391159
Get one of these and hide during inspections.
Or go find some dumb whore and marry her for the BAH.
>>7391159
I'd recommend getting one of those electric skillets. ONe with a lid would be preferable.
>>7391168
Agreed. Some of these models have different attachments which adds variability.
HOW DO I GET THE KFC CHICKEN SEASONING? WHAT IS INSIDE THAT MYSTICAL PIECE OF SHIT.

why is italian food so fucking easy to make?
Because well made, simple foods can be just as delicious as overcomplicated meme foods that take hours to prepare.
>>7394435

>noodle
>salt

DONE
Let's get one of these going.. last one was strictly about meatloaf.
Is it safe to eat frozen green beans if they're 5 months past the best before date?
What the fuck do I do with a pound of cornstarch?
>>7394121
Yes but they may be kind of freezer burned depending on how well the bag was sealed.
Alright /ck/ lets talk about steaks!
What's your preferred method of seasoning and cooking?
I normally do a generous sprinkling of salt and pepper then quick sear in the skillet then it goes in the oven preheated to 500 degrees for 5 minutes. Makes a perfect medium rare steak for me every time.
What are some other techniques? I can never seem to get a steak properly cooked if it's only done on skillet/grill and no oven action.
>>7394004
My preferred method
>steak near room temp
>salt and pepper
>screaming hot charcoal grill
>medium rare

Teriyaki marinade
no salt or pep
girl it
wayyyyy better than shitty salt steaks
>watch brother make steaks
>takes steaks out of fridge
>immediately puts them on a propane grill
>propane
>cuts each one to make sure they're done
>leaves them on a little longer "just to make sure"
I was screaming internally the entire time
