People who share plates are annoying.
Recently got about 1.5 kg of corned beef silverside. I've never cooked this before. I know that you are supposed to simmer it for about 2 hours till it turns tender, the problem is that all the recipes i can find call for stuff that i mostly do not have.
I just recently moved so i dont have much herbs/spices here, and im on a budget so i dont want to spend a lot on herbs/spices since i dont know if i can renew my contract.
At the moment ive got salt, pepper, sugar, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower. Might be able to pick up some herbs/spices if they are cheap, but i want them to be as versatile as possible so i can get the most use out of them.
Any suggestions?
>>9299443
so what can i simmer it with
>>9299443
Mire poix (carrot onion celery leek) salt and black pepper corns. If you're in Australia you can also go for a walk and you'll find bay leaves pretty much everywhere. Then water add water, you can use a stock cube if you want but not essential.
>>9299607
when you say mire poix do you mean just throw all of that into the pot and let it simmer with the corned beef?
Hypothetically what will happen if you just simmer it in plain water with salt?

Overpriced caramel-laden garbage. I hope you burn off your taste buds, because you're clearly not using them.

>"california has great food bro!"
>literally just the same mediocre asian or mexican restaurant block after block
There's only so many times I'm willing to pay $10+ for shitty watered down thai curry.
>>9299226
FUCKING THIS.
Sure, the atmosphere of california is nicer, doesn't mean it TASTES better. It's not bad, just mediocre like the rest of the worlds inauthentic food.
>>9299226
In Sasebo, Japan there is a curry place with 99 levels of heat. They could probably get rid of most of them though, probably hard to tell the difference between the 37 and 39.
I lived in Monterey, CA for a couple years and there were some decent restaurants but overall I wasn't completely impressed. Not a fan of seafood though, so probably missed out on that one.
>>9299228
It's frustrating since I'm sure some are good but you can't find them.
>go to supposedly good mexican restaurant for tacos
>basically identical menu and taste as mexican restaurants all across middle america
HOW DO I KEEP FUCKING WASPS OUT OF MY FIGS!

Mix sour cream, buttery spread, and ketchup together, use the resulting mixture as lube to shove potato up my ass while fisting chili.
Eat the saltines.

Use them to entice a homeless person into a dark alley and then say they can only have it if they eat it like a dog then when they do I sodomise them and start stabbing them in the kidneys with my fruit knife then just as the friction from the week old crusty poo on their ring piece causes me to ejaculate I'd slit their throats and drink all the blood that comes out like a vampire
What's your favorite taco recipe? What Is the best place to order tacos?
Taco Tuesday or Taco Thursday?
"Taco Tuesday" sounds better than "Taco Thursday", but every day is Taco Tuesday if you're livin' life like a champ.
The objectively best tacos in the world are from Tacos la Potranca de Jalisco, in King City, California. Fucking amazing. If you are driving on the 101 you owe it to yourself to try them.
>>9298241
>What's your favorite taco recipe?

I like to eat like 2 bags of popcorn a day. How do I season it to make it bette without using butter/oils/sugar/salt?
saffron
>>9298170
The popcorn itself costs less than a quarter per pack. I'm not using $20 of spices to season it. Do you think Garlic Powder would improve the flavor?
Onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
Got some cheap steaks in the freezer I need to use up, and a new grill, so time to knock out some steak with a nice sauce in case I fuck them up.
Pic related: defrosted and seasoned
This was a 3 pack, so I'm going to take one and chop it up to use for the sauce, and reserve the meat for later use in a soup.
Steak chopped up and added to a cold pan in order to render some fat as it heats up. I added some butter to help it along as the meat was pretty lean, and it would probably just burn without a bit of additional fats.
The meat's getting some color, and there's a nice fond developing on the bottom of the pan. Probably should have used the cast iron for this...
Next comes some red onion. The recipe I'm stealing from calls for shallots, which I don't have on hand. I'll cook these until they get a little bit of color.
I have over 15 lbs of overripe tomatoes for spaghetti sauce. how do I make a god tier sauce.
what is an lbs?
>>9298014
GO SEAHAWKS
Saute some finely chopped onions in a few tbsp of olive oil, mix the tomatoes in and mash them up and reduce them. Put a bayleaf in for 20 minutes when it's simmering then take it out. Add some fresh thyme too and take it out with the bayleaf.
Consider adding a Knorr™ Stock pot™
