I'm not sure what any of that is. I really can't identify even one ingredient in that mess. Those yellow things are maybe potato chips? I don't know.

Hey ilu /ck/, looking for some advice or help in the right direction.
I'm taking care of my grandma and she's had a large loss of appetite. Been to doctors over it and none of her medication is the cause, she's really on the bare minimum. Her daily diet is oatmeal and some sweet bread or toast in the morning, maybe half one of those meals on wheels for lunch, and an ensure in the evening. Before (as much as 6 months ago) I was able to at least get her to eat a small portion of a homemade dinner and she'd eat almost the whole meals on wheels.
Sometimes during the day if not meals on wheels I can get her to eat some eggs. Sometimes some softer meats. She says she has no taste for food and no hunger. Otherwise her health is doing good and she's awake for the day.
After talking with the doctor we decided to just end meals on wheels and during the day making her a yogurt/protein smoothie with fruit and veggies.
But I'm trying to think of other similar meals. Something low in salts and sugar, high in protein, calories, and nutrients while not too high in volume, something that could encourage appetite and taste, not tough to chew, money being no issue.
Any advice appreciated. Pic related it's a nopales/cucumber/avocado smoothie and I've made it for her before and she liked it fine.

This might be more /fit/'s department.
Nuts are good too. Maybe something like unsweetened peanut butter.
>>7506428
I thought that too but /fit/ focuses more on cutting and less on bulking. When they do talk of bulking it's hardly healthy bulking and all I can imagine getting from them is whey protein. Which isn't horrible since I do plan to use some of that.
Oh and yeah peanut butter. Def gotta get that.
My grocery list is basically
>frozen berries, mangos, fruit
>yogurt, high fat/cal kind since she certainly isn't dieting
>cottage cheese
>jellos, apples sauce, fruit cups
>fresh veggies since those weirdly are cheaper than frozen ones at my store
>avocado
>oranges/lemon for that vit c and immune system meme
>honey, so much honey
>peanut butter, almond butter, nuts, especially pecans
>coconut water and aloe vera water
>flax seed and whey protein
But that's all smoothie stuff. I just wonder if there's something different than smoothies for variety. Like she mashed potatoes.

>eating cheese without machine guns on the label
I feel sorry for Europeans with their gay cheese that only has words and pictures of castles on them.

Can you keep opened cheese for over a month in the fridge? I can't stop my cheese from growing mold and it's a waste of money to throw away something I eat only a slice of every week.. At this point I'm going to have to buy kraft slices.
Say that you were given a mission to construct the perfect cheeseburger.
The mission also includes using traditional ingredients with your own technical twist. Buns, meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, bacon, red onion, and sauce. Do you think there should be more or less on the burger?
You are given an ingredient list as follows: Homemade Hamburger Buns
Beef (your choice of cut)
Cheese (your choice of cheese, melted or broiled?)
Lettuce (What kind? What's your technique to bring it to the next level?)
Tomato (What kind and how do you take it further?)
I found this picture online, I was blown away that they sous vide the lettuce. I checked it out online but there's no information on sous vide produce.
>>7506357
Also forgot to add red onions to that ingredient list
Tbh burgers are mostly about the ingredientes. fresh ingredients and a good sauce make for a killer burger.
I am sick of this fancy nacho trend, this is worse than Hitler
They are good but when I order nachos I want a giant pile of slop, not individual pieces arranged in an eye pleasing pattern
Honestly, what are you expecting ordering nachos at a place like that?
I didn't know fancy nachos were a thing. Where was this at? I only order nachos at bars and breweries.
holy shit
that's garbage
how much does this pile of shit set you back, op?
Why are there any failing restaurants at all? This guy can apparently fix any restaurant by giving people a basic lesson in how to cook/run a business over two days. It can't be that hard.

listen to kitchen confidential, and stop relying on bullshit reality TV to tell you how the real world works.

>it can't be that hard
And you just answered your own question.
>>7506173
No matter how much you teach them people can't get over themselves.
Okay i want to start going to butcher to get my meats, mostly just the really cheap cuts like tripe tongue and so on. What are some tips to get the good cheap stuff? Basically how do i talk to a butcher with out looking like an autistic pleb?
?
say hi
ask what's on sale
ask what they recommend/ how they recommend cooking it
stop being autistic
Never trust a butcher that lacks a waxed handlebar mustache.
>>7505909
You're a fucking joke, kid.
food noob, where to buy cheap bulk spices? I have a curry-based need to feed.
Supermarket bulk foods aisle usually, or find someplace online. Maybe a local food co-op or something like that.
>>7505837
Indian or arab market.
>>7505840
>Supermarket bulk foods aisle
Enjoy your diseases. Never buy anything from those unless they are wrapped or going to be boiled.
>that one guy that puts his wasabi into his soy sauce
>that one guy that eats sushi with ginger
>>7505826
I Always put wasabi into my soy sauce.
>>7505829
this, it's great
>that one fag who only orders nigiri and sticks his nose at rolls
Nigga this ain't fucking Nobu, that frozen tuna on rice is six times the price of what everyone else is eating and ain't even the real shit you white trash idiot.
How have your tastebuds changed over the years /ck/?
Lately I've become obsessed with anything spicy, and as a kid I remember hating anything spicy. Same goes with a lot of other stuff.
I used to hate bitter foods and now I seek them out
I used to dislike the flavor of broccoli as well, and I now enjoy that too
>>7505629
Never minded broccoli as a kid, but the bitter taste of coffee was also something I hated as well. Horribly addicted to caffeine now.
>>7505614
This period of losing weight has made me man up with a lot of vegetables. Cabbage sprouts peppers onions and peas.
Also actually like neat whiskey now when 4 5 months ago I did not.
Fine with anything as long as there is not a lot of raw tomato in it. Fucking hate raw tomoto
What happen if I boil beer?
Go find out.
>>7505563
the alcohol and water evaporate
If you do, you better put sausages in it
Do you use a fork or chopsticks? I heard that you're supposed to use chopsticks and slurp them making noise to achieve the authentic experience and don't know if it's a meme, but I've never managed to get it right. What do?
Get out.
GET THE FUCK OUT.
>>7505539
>unironically using meme-sticks
No thanks
What's the most food I can get for $10?

Not bait I am a broke college student
I have
>1 gram of ayy lmao
>1/3 bottle of captain
>10$ for food (sick of cafeteria food it's shit, only really like the free fruit and chasers)
You can get many pounds of rice and beans for 10 bucks.
If you're talking fast food, you can get two footlongs at Subway for 10 and change.
I'm on a long train journey (yurop) and I'm really hungry but not willing to pay the extortionate prices in the food car.
Some kids have just walked by and one of them dropped this delicious morsel of golden nuggetty chicken.
Shall I do it, /ck/ ?
>>7505386
Eating chicken nuggers is already so low that I don't see how eating one off the floor is really sinking that much lower.
>>7505390
You think I'll be ok?
>>7505391
As OK as any person can be who would rather eat a chicken nugget off the floor of a train rather than spend money on the available concessions.
What's in your crock pot /ck/?
Cooking up spicy chicken chili.
>>7505354
Wait a sec. Breast meat? Why would you use breast meant for a braised dish? And why didn't you brown it first?
>>7505373
I season the chicken then put it in the pot. 40min before it times out I shred the chicken.
Should I be browning them?
>>7505384
You don't have to but it will taste better if you brown the meat first.
Also leg/thigh meat is not only cheaper than breast, but tastes better in a braise/stew/chili
