hey /ck/, /fit/ here
You guys know way more about food not tasting like shit, so I wanted to know what I can replace canned tuna with or if you guys know what the hell to eat it with. I'm just tired as shit of it and want an alternative. I've heard canned sardines are pretty good, but would like an opinion. ty
also on the same note, please for the love of god give me a recipe for chicken breast that doesn't make me want to kill myself

How do you feel about fondant? Is it the cancer killing cake?
I don't like it, but I don't think it's cancer.
I like it, but I do think it's cancer.
Not since they invented the not-ass-tasting marshmallow version.
What does /ck/ think of slow cookers?

I read it's bad but I don't remember why.
I think they're great and they suit my lifestyle.

>slow cookers
I believe they need to get hopping.
I bought myself some tasty Dim Sum yesterday from my local Chinese supermarket. However, it was a bit intimidating.
I bought Char Sui buns, sichuan pork dumplings and chicken and vegetable gyoza.
What's your go to Dim Sum? There were glutinous rice rolls or something. Also chicken feet in black bean sauce but no idea how you even eat them.
Dim sum is a social affair, the idea of dim sum takeout for eating alone is confusing, to say the least. At that point, isn't it just "some food I bought at the grocery store"? Or has the blogosphere taught gastronomically blighted flyovers that there is a fashoinable new thing called dim sum and all the piggly wigglies are now carrying random dumplings to attract the people who have started wearing the black glasses and carrying apple brand phones and sipping the radical new cappuchinos (a kind of eye-talian coffee with whip cream on top), among other signs of being well ahead of the times?

So if a single person decides to have some xiaolongbao, chang fen, and xiajiao as a meal to have at home, that doesn't qualify as dim sum? I think it does qualify as dim sum. It wouldn't qualify as yum cha though.
>>7534262
It's about as much "dim sum" as eating ham and eggs and mimosas alone at 12 noon while watching TV in your underwear is "brunch"
In some technical sense it may sort of qualify, but it's not what the word means, really
Redpill me on yogurt
Buy it plain. Put it in a cheesecloth and strain it for a few days. It gets even more delicious.
The unsweetened or unflavored is pretty good but if you've only ever eaten the sweetened stuff it might taste strange at first. I usually add a teaspoon of brown sugar and a bit of vanilla extract to flavor it or throw in some frozen blueberries. Grapenuts make good granola for yogurt once they soften
Can we fucking stop having this thread?
>Redpill me on x
Are you really asking somebody to reveal the painful truths behind yogurt, or are you just asking somebody to convince you to eat it?
I get it's partly a joke, but it's literally devoid of any humorous element at all.
"Redpill me on yogurt" Fuck you, how about you try it and see if you like it? It's not some facade, it's a multi-million dollar industry with an established reputation as a healthy and nutritious snack.
I get this is the food board where we're all here to share our opinions about food, but it's not anybody's responsibility to try to sell you on yogurt. Go to the store and spend the $1.38 on Chobani. If you like it, buy more. If you don't like it, don't buy it again.
Redpill me on why persuading someone to try ONE food deserves it's own thread, when we could dedicate a thread to inquiring about a number of foods we're interested in.
Has anyone ever won anything from this?
Mostly store employees

They're not eligible to win. It says so in the small print.

I watch a lot of Japanese cooking videos, and noticed that the sugar is different than the kind I'm used to seeing, it's more clumped. Is this some special kind of baking sugar, or is it caused by Japan being a more humid country or something?
japanese sugar comes from a different plant altogether. refining it is very expensive. thats why you dont see it in the states very often. the plant is called a lulurgi flower and the sugar is refined from the bottom 3" of the root. its super weird. the "clumping" is a result of natural earth-ridden tecazotes that form when the sugar is refined. although most consider japanese sugar to be actual crystal sugar, its more like a viscous hardened gas.

>they've skipped an energy-intensive final drying step to make it cheaper.
"normal" dried table sugar is ¥50 more expensive and Japanese housewives are nothing if not thrifty.

Is soya milk actually bad for grown men or is that a myth? Do the phytoestrogens cause things like gyno?
I'm looking for a dairy free alternative for my coffee
No.
>>7533966
A lot of soy products will give you gyno
It shouldn't fuck you up more than the bovine growth hormone that occurs naturally in bovine growth formula. A serving a day is fine. If there's added carrageenan, your bowels may not like it.
Cookies and cream is the best flavor ice cream
Prove me wrong faggots
I used to like mint chip. I made it vegan with coconut milk and made the chips by spreading melted chocolate on parchment before freezing and rolling it up. It's a better texture than hard frozen chips.
Now I usually just make nicecream. Its higher nutrient content satisfies me more.

Nothing beats a good quality regular chocolate scoop

Hello, total tea pleb here that'd like to start drinking some tea and i got a few question
1. What kind of tea is the best for a new drinker? Bitterness doesn't really matter to me since i'm used to drink my coffee black but i don't want it to taste like crap.
2. Heard tea bag are shit,, is it true? Should i invest in one of those fancy teapot?
3. Any brand in particular? Don't mind buying on internet since there's basically no tea market here.
Thank you.
I buy cheap sencha in 1/3 kilo bags and brew it in the same freedom press I use for coffee.
>>7533200
I'm partial to a nice Earl Grey loose leaf brewed either in a sachet. I add a little raw sugar and some cream.
Do it in that order so,the sugar dissolves effectively.
You really kinda have to buy a few different teas to find what you like.
You can use a french press to make tea, otherwise a pot and infuser can be had for less than $20.
Also, tea isn't just pour boiling water over leaves, wait 10 mins then drink. different teas have different water temps. You can't go wrong with green tea, rooibos, black, earl grey.
What are some creative things I can do with a sausage, /ck/?
