So I've got one of these bad boys right here and a recipe that requires me to cook it until it's reduced to a savory sauce-like substance.
My question is: does cooking it so long make it worse for you? As in does it create sugars that are difficult for your body to break down?

Gimme your experiences with this dish, /ck/.

What do you think of shrimpless? Am I a heathen for abstaining from ocean bugs? What about a more Spanish style, ie w/ mole?
13 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Spaniards don't eat mole.
You can omit shrimp,
>>
>>7573873
It's fine make it anyway you want it doesn't have to original. I mean if you put it on a menu and people expect the original you gonna need the shrimpers but if you cook for yourself it doesn't matter. If you cook for more people it's easy to make 2 versions because the shrimp is added last anyways.

hello /ck/, now im not from around here so sorry if im doing some newfag mistake but i have a question about pic related

namely, what the fuck are these.

i bought 2 of them yesterday for a pasta dish because i wanted some more veggies in it,
i thought this was a cute little paparika.

so i sliced one of them up and decided to try it, before blindly using both in the dish (just a small bowl of pasta for myself)

I ate the most tender slice i could cut, and it immediately fucking set my mouth on fire, parts of my lip looked like i had genuinely been burnt.
anyways, all of that is good and fine, i realized its a spicy thing and decided to just put one in instead of both.

heres where it gets weird though,
after i realized it was spicy i specifically washed my hands twice after cutting it, and definitely did not touch my eyes.
slowly and surely though i started to feel a searing burn under my upper eyelids that stayed for like 2 hours, i thought my eyes were going to fucking dry out.

why the fuck did this happen?
and what the fuck is this little fucker called so i can eat with precaution in future

the pasta was p dope though

My family used to make Portuguese style fermented pepper sauce every year but we haven't in over a decade. The store bought stuff is good but it isn't the same. I've been pressuring them a lot to do it this year.

There is nothing in this world I love more than a fatty pork chop marinated in that pepper sauce for a day or two.
>>
>>7573355
Is this something from the Indian trade? Sounds interesting how do you prepare a sauce?

It's been years but if I remember right we'd just get a fuck load of peppers, grind it up with one of those hand grinders, that would take the better part of a day. Not sure what spices and such they'd add to it but I know there was a lot of stuff in there. Put it in barrels and let it ferment for a long time. I think you need to stir it every day during that process. We haven't made it since I was a kid so I'm not too keen on the details. It's likely we'll make it this year though with all my nagging, maybe I'll post the results.

This is the closest I can find in stores. It's really fucking good but again, nothing beats home made stuff like that.

Tell me about Pakistani food. How come nobody ever talks about it or eats it? I hear about other international foods all the time, never Pakistan. I've concluded that it must be inherently shitty like Russian food.

The old Good Housekeeping. Not the ones from recent years, they've gone to shit.

I was in Tucson recently, heard about this place from here, it was pretty good compared to what we have in San Diego. Google says there are 26 locations in Tucson, how is that?! Maybe I misread that, but that's insane for a town of that size. Saw there's one in Casa Grande, sucks I probably won't try this place again, doubt I will go back to Tucson again.

The Great Debate: Crumbly or Chewy?
43 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
>>7565155
Crumbly for coffee
Chewy for milk
>>
There's only two types of acceptable chocolate chip cookies.
1. Chewy, rich and decadent, the kind of cookie you have as a special treat, big and thick and soft and chewy goodness. This comes from using a combination of butter and shortening or all shortening.

2. Thin and crispy with lightly browned edges. This is the "tea time / coffee break " cookie. Buttery, crispy, melts in your mouth deliciousness. This is achieved by using all butter in your recipe.

All other mid-tier chocolate chip cookies can fuck right off.

Theres a place near me that serves the ice cream of your choice in a churro bowl with dulce de leche sauce, toasted almonds, and chocolate sauce. I usually get it with their Mexican mocha ice cream, which tastes exactly like youd think.
