Anyone else a recovering picky eater?
I'm eating an avocado for the first time right now.
Remember to salt it otherwise it won't taste too good
Avocado is a really bad food to try to eat just on its own.
>>7599695
...says the fellow who has never eaten a good avocado. I don't blame you though. Most people don't live with a tree in their yard
Just got back from grocery shopping, and boy does it feel good to have food in the apartment again.
What foods do you usually stock, /ck/?
>keeping food on hand
i'm /takeout/ erry day
seems comfy desu
>>7599685
Literally autism, the cupboard
Food I always keep on hand:
>10 lb sack of white rice (or 5 white 5 brown depending on how I feel)
>5 pound bag white flour
>1 lb each various dried beans
>1lb plain oats
>Giant bottle of mid-tier olive oil for cooking and marinades/dressing
>Regular bottle cheap oil (sunflower, safflower, canola, peanut, grapeseed, depending on sales) for frying and when neutral tasting oil is important
>package rice paper wraps
>Always have black pepper, salt, turmeric, onion powder, garlic powder, red pepper flakes (gojuchang specifically), dried basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, cinnamon. Rest of spices are as need for whatever recipe I want to cook.
>Table sugar, powder sugar, brown sugar, molasses, honey
>White vinegar, red wine vinegar, apple-cider vinegar, rice-wine vinegar
>Liquid smoke, Coconut Aminos (thats soy-free soy sauce for you plebs), a few cans of tomato paste, hot sauce of choice
>5lb sack of potatoes
>5lb sack of yellow onions
>5lb bag of oranges
>5 bulbs of garlic
>a few pounds tomato on vine, a few avocados
>1 dozen eggs
>5lb chicken, self frozen, thawing in fridge over night as needed. (usually thighs)
>head cabbage
>2 or 3 limes
>2 bushes green onions/scallions
>1lb bag of carrots
>1lb bush of celery
>1 package wonton and eggroll wrappers
>miscellaneous peppers (currently on jalapenos)
>Bulb(?) of ginger
>Fresh lemongrass, bay leaves, cilantro, basil, mint
>Head lettuce (iceburg, romaine, butter, depending)
>Bottle ketchup
>Thing of coarse ground brown mustard (not that French's shit)
>Jar of homemade dill pickles
>Thing of homemade kimchi (fresh)
>Carton almond/rice/cashew/hempseed/cocnut milk
>Earth Balance soy-free butter
>Frozen peas, corn
>Miscellaneous frozen preped meals for lazy times (burritos, pizzas, potstickers etc.)
Thats about sums it up. I swear for a cooking board most of you sure act like children. I haven't eaten a single thing I haven't made myself from scratch in years. Cheap and healthy.
why has he never been on iron chef?
i think he'd mop the fucking floor on that show..
I unironically enjoy his personality
>>7599678
Really? My father likes this guy too. He's just too much for me, way too try-hard and lame.
Whats is everyone making tonight?
I will attempt to make pho ga, but the lazy way. Pic unrelated, will have actual pictures when I have more progress
using
>chicken stock
>chicken breast
>coriander
>star anise
>black pepper
>cloves
>dried lime peel
>a yellow onion
>ginger
>fish sauce
the next section is stuff you add right before serving
>yellow chili peppers
>mint leaves
>rice vermicelli
>bean sprouts
>green onions
>siracha sauce
>hoisin sauce
wtf is a yellow onion
>>7599552
An onion which is yellow.
Mexican rice and refried beans are probably the best side dish ever created. What is the best recipe? I want one like in tex mex joints, not like shitty canned beans and rice o rooni
Google salsa borracha and grill a steak then add the rice and beans on the side
the carbs are too many
I prefer to just melt some cheese on the beams with hot sauce like at taco bell
Lookie what I got my hands on today!
Guide my hands, /ck/. Never worked with them before.
What make?
>>7599454
this is the goat way of eating them.
I can not justify any other use
You should make some chocolate quail's eggs.
They go really well with fluffy ruffs.
>>7599454
>Guide my hands, /ck/
straight to the anus with them anon
post pics
so can we all agree that flats > drums
>forks
100% agree
I'm a drum man myself.
>He used to slice it so thin, it used to liquefy in the pan with just a little oil
>It was a very good system
>>7599431
lol. I probably think about this scene every single time I'm chopping garlic for sketti sauce.
Those single-edged razor blades are dull as fuck, they're meant for box cutters and stuff, and do not compare in any way to a double edged shaving razor.
My kitchen knife is probably sharper than that thing right now and it hasn't touched a stone in weeks.
>>7599442
yeah well I don't see YOUR garlic so thin it liquefies in the pan with just a little oil.
Have you ever stolen a squeeze bottle from a restaurant?
yeah, from a kebab shop, was ketchup and looked like one in your picture OP
I read about how some guy's friend stole the white sauce from Halal Guys.
Homeless people constantly steal hot sauce bottles from my local drive-in burger place, so they give you the bottle without the lid.
I doubt that this would actually stop homeless people.
Hi /ck/. I'm going to a afternoon "baby gender reveal" party in a few days and they asked if people could bring food. I am great friends with all these people so I wanted to make something at least on the level of "i spent some amount of time on this" instead of just buying artichoke dip or some shit. I want to do something with meat and cheese, was thinking about a nicer version of pic related. Maybe spicy cream cheese and bacon or something. Ideally nothing with super exotic ingredients, as options are somewhat limited where i live unless i drive a few hours.
tldr: what are some great party foods for things like this?
>>7599250
What gender did the baby choose?
>>7599250
Make pizza dough (or buy it, because who gives a shit about other peoples kids)
flatten it out, cut 2" squares
add meat and cheese, no sauce
close your dumpling, add it to a baking dish seam side down
brush with eggwash, parmesan, and garlic butter for a golden brown top
Bake until they're done
Make a thick marinara sauce for the side
Or buy some shit because you'll be going to your friends baby shower, kids bdays, and all kinds of meaningless social events because they had crotchfruit.
>>7599250
I hope the baby dies rather than have to put up with the kind of scumfuck parents who throw a gender reveal party.
Why is chick fil a so expensive?
>buys enough food for 4 grown men
>$15 is so much!!
uɐɯ ʍouʞ ʇ,uop I
>Order tuna at Subway
>Bring own sardines
>Don't have to pay for double meat
>fish
>At subway
Enjoy your cancer
>>7598950
>not just making your own sandwich
retard detected
I'm part Eastern European so I was brought up with a lot of Jew food but I'm a goy.
Can we just talk about how good these bad boys are? Goyims don't even know..
What's /ck/'s favorite bread, cheese and meats for sandwiches?
Going to the grocery after work and looking for some inspo
honey wheat, swiss, and bbq brisket.
>>7598947
Looking more for deli meat, but noted
I'm craving a sandwich made of french cheese, ham and baguette right now
What is this, some kind of joke?
http://www.brandeating.com/2016/04/dairy-queen-launches-new-royal-blizzards.html
>>7598802
how are you supposed to take the ice crem off the package? does it peel off like a cornetto?
y is ther ea doo doo in the middle of that icecrema?
so instead of getting ice cream with little chunks blended throughout, now you can get ice cream with one big chunk in the middle and little chunks throughout?
it sounds like the teenagers who work at dairy queen are just too lazy to mix the blizzards properly.
How do you like your calzone, /ck/?
>>7598685
Open faced.
ham and cheese
Had a rather plain one just now: Cheese, pepperoni and ham with extra mozzarella and onions.
It was good but I feel like the mozzarella was too much cheese for my taste.
