Why does everyone on /ck/ try so hard to seem healthy/skinny and have to disclaimer every post in a junk related thread with "I only have this once a year but..."?

It's really annoying. This isn't /fit/.

I think it's all in your head.

You might be confusing people bitching about the shitty quality of fast food for taste reasons with them bitching about it for health reasons.

Um no. I'm not. Take the anti-sugar meme for instance.

The obesity epidemic and ignorance. Most people are trying to let everyone know they aren't fat, but don't quite understand that regularly eating small portions of dessert won't instantly make you obese. It's a complex problem.

Does /ck/ dehydrate food?

I am considering getting a food dehydrator. I pack a lot of lunches and sometimes keeping perishables cold is not a reasonable option.

My biggest concern is noise. I live in an apartment, and do not have a garage. Therefore only 1 wall will be separating me from the dehydrator. How loud are these things? Can anyone recommend a good brand/model that is quiet?

I am not looking to dehydrate an entire cow, so it does not need to be super industrial size.

They're all quiet. Your noise concern is completely unfounded.

Also, do you have an oven? You can dehydrate food in there. You don't need to buy a special "dehydrator" unless you're doing a lot of volume.
>>
I dehydrate food in my fridge, but it takes a while.
It sounds weird, but it's 100% true.
I have green chillies home-drying right now and have home-dried egg whites, chicken stock, various veg (cabbage, carrot, celeriac, parsnip, leek) various herbs (the only one I've tried so far that doesn't dry so well is herb celery) and jerky.

>how loud?
The ones I've seen, not very. About as loud as a fan.
>>
I have that exact model (with only 4 trays or so).

It's very quiet. I dehydrate a lot of fruits and beef jerky. It's nice to be able to keep food for longer while keeping the nutrients inside.

However, my smaller model cost a bit under $200, so I don't know if it is worth the cost for most people.

Are burgers and sandwiches the same meal but the ingredients are prepared differently?
They are both meat in between bread with vegetables.

then why not call both a sandwich why the addition of the name burger?

Because subcategories are a thing that exist. Why do you call it a motorcycle instead of a vehicle? They're the same thing, right?

Should I be embarrassed if I order something from the kid's menu?

I don't eat that much food and usually the kids meal will fill me up. For example, I've been going to smashburger a few times and always order the kids meal which is legitimately a decent sized burger and fries. But it is still labeled as "kids".

I think the only time someone cared is when I went to chipotle and asked for the chocolate milk. The girl there giggled at me for choosing it.

Not at Smashburger in particular. That's probably a good deal.

But what the hell were you eating at Chipotle that went with chocolate milk?

Looks like they've really improved this virtual reality stuff.

I wish I could afford one so I could play Joey's World Simulator just like OP.

I love hamburger helper but I hate meat. Yuck, disgusting, blech. Who could stand that stuff?
So I have come up with a method for making hamburger helper without the hamburger and it's really good! Here's how we do it:

To make hamburger helper without the hamburger, you need these items. Some are kind of obvious.

Pot roasted blade steak with root vegetables
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
The serving vessel, varying size of the cuts, and choice of utensil all seem entirely inappropriate.
>>
>>7766773
Oh?

Steak came as two extremely thin sheets, so I rolled them into joints, but since I didn't have any sort of bands or string to tie them off with, yeah they ended up sprawling out.

I like muh taters thick cut and when you cook it as long as I did, it the various types of ingredients still came to a consistent texture

Serving utensil was irrelevant, honestly, the meat was good stuff on fat distribution and was pinch-through soft by the end so I could have cut it with a blunt pencil and speared it on the tip and it wouldn't have made any difference. Yeah, I'll drink the leftover broth straight from the bowl and sop up what's left with bread, fite me

Can you define inappropriate? Too much? Too messy looking? It's not like I was making a table center dish for guests, it was just a belly filling meal made from what on hand would taste good thrown in the pot for a few hours
>>
>>7766767
that shit looks too big to eat in one bite, and you shouldn't be cutting food in a fucking soup bowl

next time cut smaller pieces ya goof

Does this system really work?

>>
>>7766746
yeah, but it's not worth it. maybe if you've got all the time in the world to kill, fucking your fingers up for days with garlic smell that won't come off no many how many times I wash
you can get fine mince so much more quickly without the terrible lasting smell
>>
>>7766746
work? You mean does it cut the garlic? Because it clearly does.
if you want the garlic to dissolve why not use powdered garlic?

What are refried beans? You cook them then mash up and fry them? So confused.
>>
>>7766427
You boil them, mash them, then fry or bake them. "Well-fried," not "refried." They're best for baking anyway.
