I love to grill steaks but I can't find a good rub for them. They taste bland at the end. What mix of spices are good for a regular steak? No premade store bought mixes.
>>9322356

What does /ck/ think of quorn products?
I just made a chilli with it for my vegetarian mother and was surprised at how it actually wasn't too bad.
They make really good stuff. Their burgers are pretty meaty and smokey, their breakfast sausages legit taste like decent sausage patties, and their chicken strips or whatever are supposedly great as well.
The only shitty part is they do have a lot less protein in their stuff than their competitors. I stick to beyond meat for protein, but Quorn for a nice meal on a Sunday or something.
Good shit. Wish they sold it here in Canada. I remember not liking the peppered steaks but everything else was good. This used to be my jam back a few years ago.

I work for Quorn AMA

sodium citrate.
Sautee about 1/2 cup of aromatics (mixture of onion, garlic, shallot, chives, anything you want) in 2 tbsp butter.
Add 4 cups milk (of which up to half could be cream), 3-5 cups of cheese (depending on taste), 3 tbsp of sodium citrate and some seasonings (cayenne, paprika, mustard powder/mustard, go easy on the salt with sodium citrate, pepper, any herbs you like go here.
You could also bake some bacon in the oven while cooking the sauce on the stove.
Add this to 1lb of pasta that you have cooked for 3 minutes, desired veggies and bake @ 400 for 45 minutes.
Cavatappi noodles, cook. Make a thick sauce of medium cheddar melted together with sour cream and yellow mustard to desired consistency. Mix. Enjoy with salt and pepper to taste.
I havent had a box of this shit in years and now i really want some
You're at the neighborhood burger and hot dog stand.

Can you use vegetable gravy granules to make vegetable stock for soup?
I tried googling it and I can't get past a discussion of soup vs broth.
I've made a cup of boiling water and put vegetable gravy granules in it and then I drank that but I don't know if it tasted like gravy or stock because I don't really know what stock is.
you can make a gravy out of any liquid that has flavor. Vegetable stock can work.
Whatever you thicken the stock with will change the flavor a slight bit.
What are you going to thicken the stock with ?
Roux ? Cornstarch ?
Pugs are the fat overly sexual weeaboo girl of the dog world.
Stock is just a flavoring, you can switch it out for any sort of liquid when making a soup or stew. Try using it like you would bouillon; 1 teaspoon = 1 cube, 1 cube in a cup of water, so a recipe that calls for 4-6 cups of stock would use 1-2 tablespoons of granules.
Start out with the bare minimum though, you can always add more later.
Who cooks with MSG here? Anything in particular you like to use it for or stuff it doesn't go well with? Just bought some today for the first time
Healthfood betas not welcome

I like healthy food and I would cook with this but I have no idea how to use it. I recently started using sodium citrate to emulsify my sauces and that is nice.
Any other suggestions for food additives (that I can easily buy on amazon)?
>>9321998
replace 1/3 to 1/2 of your salt with msg.
I put it secretly into foods I make for people
I feel its best use is as a seasoning in breadcrumbs
/ck/ What do you do with yours. I'll start.

I use mine to make stocks. I save several carcasses from rotisierrie chickens, toss them all into my larger pot with ~6-8 cups of water, and let it cook for 10+ hours.
