Hey /ck/ who else shops at aldi's? Any recommendations on what to buy from there?
Here is my recommendation
>deli pizza, Cheese/italian sticks if available
>clancy onion ring chips
>any of the millville cereal
>ravioli
I have more but at this point it would sound more like common sense
Anyone have any recipes to share, I would love to try some mexican recipes
Also, aldi thread I guess.
I like their McRib
It might just be my area, but Aldi is just generally cheap as fuck.
Except for meats.
I absolutely love Aldi, it's just out of my way and they close earlier than everything else.

This is going to sound extremely autistic, but does anyone else hate restaurants? Fast food is usually more tolerable, but I hate restaurants.
Too many unspoken rules and niceties to be observed, so many poorly defined codes for what you or they should do in any given situation.
Not to mention, I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant that served food better than I could make it. I'm a friendless loser though, so maybe friends are a reason to visit restaurants.
>>7818257
Yeah, it's pretty autistic, mate. It doesn't help that you have some preconceived notions of restaurants that you've seen on television and on the internet.
Work on it, lad.
>>7818257
yea, that does sound pretty autistic. at least you could identify it.
>>7818257
No i am with you op.
I hate restaraunts they want you to wear pants when u eat
I have had a love affair with fried rice for several months now. This Thai restaurant near me makes the most flavorful and delicious fried rice I've ever had. Recently, I started cooking it with oyster sauce, garlic, onions, and chile powder/paste. It is pretty good but I feel like there's more I can be doing. Anyone have any good tips?
you mean you fry their fried rice?
>>7819444
no, I was just using that as an example of what I strive for. The "it" was poorly used.
the most important thing is to use rice that has been allowed to cool completely
Is liver the final boss of /ck/?
I've never had it before but I've heard nothing but negative reviews of it. Anyone here who unironically likes this meme dish?
Hating offal is just childish.
Fried liver and onions is a god tier dish for example.
It also depends heavily on what animal the liver comes from and what age it was. Young chicken liver for example i sometimes grind into a pate and you wouldn't even know it was liver if I didn't tell you.
>>7813903
The texture is absolutely horrifying. Like eating sand.
>>7813903

Have you been here for 3 minutes only?

I put ice in my milk because of my grandfather and a couple spoonfuls of cottage cheese in my soup because of my mother
>>7811803
In every soup? Or just certain ones?
I put ice in my milk too, but only because I like cold milk to stay cold. I also do this with over drinks. It doesn't noticeably dilute it.
>>7811803
>ice in milk
Kill yourself.
My mother always made pancakes small and with blueberries in them, so I do too
Hey /ck/,
Last thread went really well, so lets do another one. I'm a professional Cocktail Bartender in Houston, TX. I've been working behind a bar for almost 10 years now, and have worked at everything from very high end to dive-y and dirty. Got a question about a drink? A spirit? The Industry? Ask away. I go on shift in 4 hours but I'll keep up with the thread until then.
To start with some content, here are some great Old Fashioned's:
Primer - An Old Fashioned can be made with any base spirit. Gin, Rum, Whiskey, etc. An OF is simply a drink that is Spirit, Sugar, Bitters, Water (added through dilution while stirring). So feel free to experiment. Stick with the standard ratio and think about complementary flavors and you'll do fine.
Traditional OF:
2oz Rye Whiskey (I use Rittenhouse for a baseline)
1 Barspoon of 2:1 Turbonado Syrup (2:1 Simple Syrup works as well)
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
1 Dash Peychauds Bitters
Add all ingredients into a mixing glass, stir with ice for 45 Seconds. Pour over new ice, garnish with orange peel. Sub Bourbon for Rye if Desired.
Rum OF #1:
Same as above, sub Whiskey for aged rum (Plantation 5 year, Ron Zacapa, etc.)
Rhum OF #2:
2oz Rhum Barbacort or similar, Agricole works exceptionally.
1bsp Turbo Syrup/Simple
2 Dash Coffee Bitters
Mezcal OF:
2oz Mescal
1bsp Agave Syrup
2 Dash Aztec Chocolate Bitters
Sotol OF:
2oz Sotol de Chihuahua
1bsp Simple Syrup
1dsh Orange Bitters
2dsh Mole Bitters

Are you an alcohol? How much do you drink?
Kinda new to this section, but I've gotten decent at cooking butter chicken and I'm wondering if people can give me feedback or discussion on how to improve it.
I usually use:
Chicken breast (enough for however many people I'm feeding)
A brown onion
2tbsp of butter
cup of cream
1/2 cup of greek yogurt
1 cup crushed tomatos
2tsp ground cumin
1tsp turmeric
1tsp ground coriander seeds
(1tsp chili powder if people like it spicy)
So what I do is I slice the onion and chuck it in the pan with butter on low heat til it goes brown, then put in the chicken and cook that til it's good to go. Next I chuck in the crushed tomatos and the seasoning (cumin, etc.), let that reduce for a tad and then add the yogurt and cream, stir it in and let it reduce til it goes orange, then serve with rice.
This works pretty nice for me, but I'm curious if there's anything I'm missing or could tweak to make it better? This is pretty much what I've taught myself so I'm prolly fucking it up somehow but it tastes good.
Or just discuss butter chicken in general, the most delicious of all indian food.
Sounds good, i'd do garlic, ginger, and chilli with the onions. Deseed the chilli if you don't want it hot. Also boneless thighs are far superior to breast meat for curry.
>>7806737
>chicken breast
You failed already
>tomatos
let me walk you through this delicious dinner i am about to have, my fellow cu/ck/s

The first time I bought a bottle of MM I tried to cut the wax off with the knife part of a corkscrew, thinking there was a cork underneath.

Wow what an amusing anecdote

Heh Heh had to chuckle a little bit man, I mean the part to tear off the wax is literally sticking out bruh.
What do you make a beeline for at the breakfast buffet?
I just can't resist potatoes and sausages.
I usualy go for sweet bread and nutella, cup of black coffee and OJ
>>7811187
bacon
sausages
toast
scrambled eggs
Bacon. I usually get a mountain of it and clear out the pan. Everything else is filler for women, children, and nu males.
Will brexit make it harder and more expensive to get Euro food/drinks? I really don't want to be stuck eating 5% hamburgers and drinking Fosters lager
>>7809925
I think yes but I can't really base my answer. Whats a 5% burger btw?
>>7809925
Considering that the EU dictates with whom and on what terms England can trade with, no, a Brexit will most likely in fact lead to a relaxation of trade tarifs and sanctions.
>>7809925
Not overtly, most food that that the U.K eats isn't grown/made in the E.U, also considering Belgium has already stated that trade with the U.K will continue pretty much unchanged after Brexit it's likely that the rest of the E.U will continue trading pretty much unchanged as well
Just tried dates for the first time. Oh man....
