What are the best ways to cook a Tomahawk? I found someone that sells them for 344 a slab but don't want to ruin or burn my dinner putting me out of 300 plus dollars on a steak.

Did this a couple of weeks ago. Came out great.

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 (1 1/2- to 2-lb.) bone-in rib-eye or porterhouse steak (about 2 inches thick)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3 tablespoons butter
8 fresh herb sprigs (such as thyme, rosemary, and oregano)
3 garlic cloves, peeled and smashed
Preparation

Hands-on: 20 Minutes
Total: 1 Hours
1. Preheat grill to 400° to 450° (high) heat. Heat a 12-inch cast-iron skillet on grill, covered with grill lid, 15 minutes. Sprinkle salt and pepper generously over steak.

2. Add oil to skillet. (Oil should smoke.) Using tongs, place steak in skillet, and cook on grill, without grill lid, 10 minutes or until dark brown and crusty. Turn steak on fatty edge in skillet, holding upright with tongs, and cook 2 minutes. Place steak, uncooked side down, in skillet. Cook on grill, covered with grill lid, 8 to 10 minutes or to desired degree of doneness. (We recommend an internal temperature of 120° to 125° for medium-rare; temperature will rise as steak rests.)

3. Add butter, herbs, and garlic to side of skillet, and cook 2 to 3 minutes or until butter foams. Tilt skillet slightly, and spoon butter mixture over steak 20 times (being careful not to splatter). Transfer steak, herbs, and garlic to a platter; let stand for 5 to 10 minutes. Slice against the grain.

The only guy I found with Tomahawk Steaks for sale wanted 344 dollars for a single slab. Unless I'm getting hustled big time the guy told me that was a reasonable price for Tomahawk Steaks.

Of the chocolate bars that cost $10 or more in the States [Fine & Raw, Xpcolati de David, Askinosie, Omnom, Vosges Haut-Chocolat] which one do you think is the finest?

If you like a different luxurious chocolate brand please feel free to recommend!

Redpill me on white flour.
Is it really as bad for you as they say?

White flour doesn't taste very good on its own, but otherwise there's nothing wrong with it. Wheat is responsible for the rise of human civilization.

The people who think they need to eat like cavemen should be forced to live outside of the civilization that wheat has created. They will probably come around to understanding the virtues of wheat.

I like how /ck/ complains about the east having all the different kitkat flavors but then turns around and complains when a western product adds flavors.

Protip poptarts always has a rotating out-in-left-field limited time flavor. This really isn't that much different.

What's a good, strong bagged tea for a coffee drinker looking to switch over? I don't care much for drip coffee, and using a press or moka pot for a single cup is just a pain in the ass.

>>7888567
I don't see how loose tea is inherently superior. You're steeping leaves in water. I doubt giving the tea "breathing room" is going to change the flavor in any perceptible way.

>>7888577

The leaf quality for starters.

I want to make chicken stock today but it's already pretty late. The way Alton's video makes it sound I need to cool this stuff rapidly and freeze it to avoid bacteria.

How true is this? This is my first time making stock. If I only have 4 hours or so do I need to rapidly cool it with ice and stick it in the freezer like this video shows? How dangerous is it really if I just shove the stock into the freezer after 3 or 4 hours on the stove?
15 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
unless you have aids it is useless as the growth of bacteria will not affect your health in such a short time frame

Keep it warm for 3 days straight though and it'll go sour on you
>>
I don't understand this either. How is cooling in 2 steps (ice bath then fridge) better than cooling in a single step (straight to fridge)

I think it's some bullshit myth holdover from the old days like "seals in the juices"
>>
>>7888518
>>7888550
If you stick a fairly hot pot of stock in your fridge it's going to warm up EVERYTHING else in your fridge. It will also take a while for your fridge to compensate and get cold again. That's why.
>thinking Alton Brown is partial to bullshit myth holdovers
Who the fuck do you think you are?

So let's decide once and for all...

What IS the best K-cup option if you're forced to drink from automated non enthusiast coffee machines that use these K-cups? So far I've been bringing a box of Donut Shop with me instead of the horrible generic "french vanilla" shit they've got working down in my office, but I'd like to hear if /ck/ has any recommendations for a poor wageslave such as myself.

/ck/, I think I might've fucked up a little bit.

I was cutting up chicken for the first time in a few months.

Before cutting the chicken, sliced up some zucchini and bell peppers then used the same knife to cut up the breast. Didn't care about using another knife because lazy.

So, I put some oil on the hot pan, drop the chicken there, cook it, drop in the sauce, drop in the sliced up peppers and zucchini and keep going, went on to boil the rice, tasted fucking majestic.

Here's the mistake I made

I used the same fucking spatula on the pan when it was still raw and then the same goddamn spatula after I added the sauce then the same spatula to get food on the plate. Dad taught me to cook when I was younger and he told me to never ever use the same spatula on raw and cooked chicken because of salmonella.

It has been about 2 hours since I ate. I put the pan in the fridge with the SAME SPATULA STILL IN IT. As soon as I realized my mistake, I started feeling kind of weird, went full-Hazmat on the cutting board and utensils.
No cramps or diarrhea yet.

So, tell me, /ck/. Did I fuck up bad?
