>How fresh is that coffee?
>I generally make a fresh pot every week, even if there's some left over.
Do people actually drink day old coffee that they've left in the pot?
>>7890834
If you must prepare coffee in bulk, make cold-brew you nincompoops. ground coffee in cold water in the fridge overnight. filter to drink. that's it.
>>7890834
>I generally make a fresh pot every week,
Wut???
>>7890847
Cold brew coffee is horrible and those who extol its nonexistent virtues, bloodless ghouls sent to torment the living.

Do you ever wash your can opener?
I haven't washed mine for at least several years and I am fine.
Does the blade even come in contact with the foodstuff?
>>7890734
Yeah, I toss it in the dishwasher every couple of weeks as a matter of habit. Or if I see that it's dirty I'll wash it.
>>does the blade even come in contact
Depends on the type of can opener. Most of them do touch the contents of the can, but only barely
The old fashioned ones like pic related touch the food seriously.
The ones that open the can from the edge so that you can re-use the lid do not.
I wash it when it becomes visibly grungy on the blades. I also oil the gears and sharpen the blades by running a piece of tinfoil back and forth through it several times.
I have a weird compulsion about simple tools working at maximum efficiency.
>>7890748
Why do you think that running foil through it somehow sharpens the blades? You do realize that aluminum foil is softer than steel and therefore is incapable of sharpening it, right?
What's the laziest thing you make on a regular basis.
>like tomato soup
>went to store, read ingredients on soup can

/ck/ I am going to order Chinese takeout. What should I get? I have no budget. I don't like broccoli or peppers. I have never done this before.
get a gun and shoot yourself
>>7890682
You sound like a picky eater, so sesame chicken or fried rice.
Follow up- how have you never ordered chinese food before?
>>7890686
I'm not Chinese. But it always looked good.
When did you grow out of sweet things?
>>7890672
Idk man I still fucking love cheesecake. So maybe never?
When I was like, 9 or something.

So 22 or 23 I reckon
What the fuck was her problem?
>>7890669
You got the answer to this question the last 40 fucking times you posted this thread.
>>7890680
First time I even watched it was last night.
>>7890681
Watching it right now. What a fucking bitch
Honestly, do you enjoy alcohol for the taste?
I enjoy tasting different beers and wines, because the alcohol is low enough that you can discern different flavors. But with liquor, I honestly feel like there is just too much damn burn to discern differences other than "cloyingly sweet" for rum and "bitter as fuck" for tequila, etc.
Is it something that you have to force yourself to do for a while until you can stand it? I just don't understand how there are people who can stand to sit down and just drink whisky/ey straight and actually tell me how good it tastes. It tastes like gasoline and exists only to get people drunk.
Sometimes I feel like they're faking. Deep down they know it tastes like petrol, but they lie and tell people about all the "notes" they can taste to seem pretentious.
It's degeneracy tbqh.
>>7890655
kek, I want to become a police officer now
Not a fan of rum or tequila, but to be fair I have never really tried it besides the cheap shit you get at student bars.
I like whisky, the trick is to drink it slowly and sip it. If you take a mouthful of it straight it is just going to burn and you aren't going to get anything from it.
I have a couple of whiskies on my own most evenings because I like it, never really order it in bars though. I stick to beer or gin on nights out.
If you just want to get drunk, there are cheaper and easier drinking ways of doing it.
I've tried making miso soup a few times now, but i can't get the cloudy effect that you get in restuarant miso soup, like pic related. Can anybody help me out?
Cum
>>7890595
I'm not sure how it's possible to fuck up miso soup, but here goes:
1) Make dashi. Most people use instant granules for this. Put it on the heat so it's hot but not actually boiling.
2) Add miso paste, whisk to combine.
3) Add other ingredients like cubed tofu, green onions, mushrooms, etc.
The "cloud" effect that you see in OP only happens after you let the soup sit and cool down for a while. The moment you stir it then the "cloud" will disappear, but if you let it sit again then it will re-form.
>>7890600
Thanks
I wouldn't say its fucked up, like the taste is fine, but it doesn't look as good
Anyone else /anosmia/ here? Got it since birth and people always ask me: "You cannot taste anything, right?" In my opinion I can and I'd consider myself a pretty good cook. I don't really know if things taste different to me just because I can't smell, anyone who can share their experiences?
>>7890580
I do have my sense of smell, and as far as I can tell it makes a HUGE difference in tasting food. If my nose gets stuffed up due to allergies (hay fever), or from being sick then I find it has a huge effect on how food tastes.
Of course you can taste food--your taste buds still work. But smell is a major part of taste, so I would think that your taste would be different than most people.
Don't worry the co founder of ben&jerrys suffered a similiar fate and now morons will toss their own icecream for his commercial overpriced buckets.
>>7890585
Yeah, that's what people tell me as well, but being used to smelling and then having it taken away is a different thing than not having the ability to smell in the first place, i suppose.
Do you dumpster dive behind grocery stores? It's a great way to get free food.
illegal were I live, and I don't want to get aids
>>7890530
Slightly related question. If the meat is within a few days of the expiration date, but it has been properly stored the entire time how long after it """""expires""""" can I safely eat it?
>>7890690
Expiration dates are only guidelines, they are not exact. And they are also extremely conservative.
It is most likely still safe--use your senses to find out. Does the meat feel slimy or smell bad? If so, throw it out. If not, use it. There is no mistaking the smell of rotting meat. If it's bad, you will know instantly upon smelling it.
How do you make iced tea or am I just retarded?
>>7890475
You may be retarded, but here's how you do it: go out and buy some red rose tea (if you live in the US), take a large pitcher, fill it w water and place ~8+ teabags in it, set in out in the sun for an afternoon. Add ice when done. If you want 'sweet tea' add sugar to it before the sun treatment.
>>7890490
*pour over ice when done
>>7890475
Brew tea extra-strong
Add ice. (That's why you made it extra-strong, because you'll be diluting it with ice).
Add sugar to taste, which in the American south means a fuckload.
>In fact, the World Health Organisation recommends that for an adult of a normal body mass index (BMI), the maximum daily sugar intake should be no more than 25 grams of sugar per day.
How fucked is the world? Most people have double that with one DRINK.
>>7890393
That graph is woefully incorrect.
Sugar is not unhealthy. The WHO is wrong on this and most other expert guidelines around the world do not limit sugar to any specific amounts, they may at best recommend limited intake more generally. The reason you cannot limit sugar to any specific amount as an expert organization is that there is no good evidence that any specific amount causes actual harm.
Lots of people were already consuming more than the WHO limit in 1900. So in 1900 people were fat and diabetic with heart disease? I don't remember that.
The real problem of our time is excessive intake of fat and animal products, which actually rose massively post-WW2, whereas intake of sugar only increased marginally.
>>7890412
>So in 1900 people were fat and diabetic with heart disease? I don't remember that.
You're 116 years old?
Will I ever get used to the taste of coke zero?
if you mix it with rum it's better
I've never tried coke zero without cheap nasty bourbon in it
I wonder what it tastes like by itself brb
>>7890386
Coke zero claimed another life, but nothing was lost. Diet fags are not fit for survival.
What would Gordon Ramsey say to my Tuna, onion and kidney Bean monstrosity?
Simply Delicious and nutritious
>>7890347
it's also very cheap (prices in eurobucks)
1 can of tuna 1.19
1 can of kidney beans 0.45
half a bag of noodles 0.25
can of diced tomatoes 0.39
2 onions no more than 0.20
2 slices of cheese 0.25
that makes about 2.73 euros for about 1500 HEALTHY calories.
>>7890340
he'd probably grab you by the neck and force your head into the boiling hot dish until your face melts off and you suffocate in the mix of your creatin mixed with your facial remains
I'd eat it though
