So /ck/, what are some food related memories from childhood that still make you sad?
Ill start.
>I fucking hated my mothers cooking growing up
>Mainly because of the way she would cook a chicken.
>what she would do is
>1. Take a chicken.
>2. chop up some carrots, and maybe potatoes.
>3. Cook the chicken without any seasonings.
>4. Serve said chicken with a side of lukewarm canned peas.
>Every time she would make this I would be almost at the verge of tears because it was so bad.
>To this day she still makes chicken the same way, and its still horrible
>>7903947
My mother used canned tomatoes in everything. otherwise it was all alright.
Also I went to a sort of boarding school where they forced me to eat food like a righthanded person despite being lefty, which was sorta shitty.
Pic unrelated.
>>7903947
I have a few of these actually
>Be really poor growing up, mainly because my parents were always trying to sue people
>There was a better part of 6 months where almost every dinner was 99 cent store hotdogs.
>Every.
>Fucking.
>Dinner.
>Often with a glass of powdered milk.
>we had enough money to buy real milk, but we didn't, because then my mom would have to go without her half and half for her coffee, or wouldn't have enough money for wine
>she never finished her coffee
>or her wine
>The half and half would often go bad in the fridge, along with the wine.
Goulash.
I still have nightmares about it.
Let's discuss Noma. Here are some food.
>"Asparagus and pine is a work of art. Noma is, as it has been compared to many times, a ballet, telling a riveting story full of comedy, drama, romance, and grace."
The legendary chef, Rene Redzepi, making an Asparagus and Spruce dish:

Quality ingredients handled perfectly by talented chef.
Food cringe threat- I'll start
anybody remember this gold?

>Makes it wrong
>Give it low rating
>>7899356
haha what an idiot putting all that ketchup on his burger
What's the most angry you've ever seen a customer at a restaurant IRL? (vid sorta related)

Saw a man and woman yell at the waiter because the waiter had to come back to swipe their card then they were told that Applebees does not take EBT cards. Man and woman proceeded to yell and curse the man up and down, man nearly hit the waiter, the waiter ran away got the manager, the man then hit the manager and the woman uplifted the chairs then they ran. I hate people. EBT is for unprepared food only.
mcdonalds should start charging customers for venting on their staff. It should come with a meal.
>>7901063
idk if this counts but one time I saw 2 women and a guy beating the shit out of each other at a burger king to the point that the guy tried picking up a wet floor sign and beating one of the women over the head with it, before the other one got him in a headlock and tried slamming him head first into the side of the bin.
ITT: Fast food and chain restaurant guilty pleasures.
I'll start: I like the taste of McDonalds. Especially all the shit from their dollar menu.
McDonalds is the king of food science
they formulated their flavor to bind to all taste buds
anyone who says mcdonalds doesnt taste good is in severe denial
>guilty pleasures
>I like the food from the worlds most popular fast food chain
Cookout. It's a chain in Tennessee and the Carolinas. Best tendies around, plus their milkshakes are fantastic.
what constitutes GOOD coffee?, and by that I mean coffee in which Mr. Wolf would delight in.
I thought I was drinking good coffee once, but it turned out to be tea.
Hot, bold flavor, not overly bitter
>>7905507
mmm... tell me more anon.
Good coffe is never too bitter as to make you scrunch your face.
There is a good test I do when trying a new coffe: I normally drink it with half milk and some sugar, but when I drink it for the first time I drink a small expresso-sized cup of it black. Just the coffe.
It always tastes bitter to me, since (as I said) i normally put milk and sugger, but the bitterness is always different. I consider coffe to have 3 different types of bitterness to it.
>Lack of sugar and milk
>The caffeine
>Bad bitterness (overtoasted, bad bean, porr grinding, etc)
An idea strong coffe only has the first 2 bitter tastes to it, and barely makes me move. Ideal everyday coffe and desert coffe has a soft 2nd type and none of the 3rd. The 3rd type is only tolarated on cheaper coffe I buy for when money is low or something.
A very good coffe that is relatively cheap for its quality is the one in pic related. It's produced close to where I live and is 100% arabian beans. It actually tastes better than a Colombian I tried once.
Hope my little autismo helps you OP.
Rate my 'za.
#I rate it 9/10.
Feel free to post your own 'zas for rating.

needs pineapple to balance the saltiness and heat.
>flavouring your steak with anything more than salt and pepper
Super unique meat that totally can't be improved xD ps don't cook XD
Claiming to like medium rare steak the best is 9/10 times bourgeois virtue signalling and 1/10 sincere preference.
Your steak needs to be cooked longer.
>>7896952
Agreed. Medium is where its at. Anything less is just raw and horrible.
/tea/ general I guess?
pic is u, fag
What's the absolute best Chamomile I can buy?
>>7892664
Where can you buy the highest-quality Chinese jasmine green?
All day every day.
>Be a linecook
>New hire working the line. Gary
>Gary is fat, slow, stupid, complains, lots of medical issues, and very combative/abrasive personality
>Very nice to him when people are around. "Hi Gary! How are ya??"
>When it's just me and him whisper stuff like, "Shut the fuck up and do your fucking job."
>"Hurry the fuck up you fat fucking animal."
>Lie and tell him that a server there has been asking about him but won't give him a name.
>Gary keeps saying he doesn't believe me but becomes obsessed with the idea because he is so pathetic.
>Tell him that I would give him the name if he pays me $$
>Get one of the attractive servers to say hi to him and smile at him every now and again.
>Reply to most of his questions/greetings with, "Please quit your job"
>Told him I banged the server that has been asking about him
>He quit a week later.
Should I just kill myself?
>>7901708
you are toxic
>>7901708
Congrats on being a sociopath.
ITT: Things that never happened general
As many of you know, american-italian food has nothing to do with actual food from Italy. It's just made up dishes with silly mispelled names.
If you want to know about what we eat and what our typical dishes are, you can ask away.
Only rule of the thread is that you basically can't expect me to know everything that dumbfucks that call themselves "italians" and don't even speak the language properly do in your country, as 99% are autist that haven't even spent a day of their life here and are just exploiting a meme.
>>7901952
How do you like your steak?
>>7901952
How do I get an italian gf?
>>7901952
what can I cook to get a qt Italian gf??? and where can I find an Italian girls in America
>came across this dish in Wisconsin.
(pic related)
>wonder what it would taste like
>everyone I was with didnt want
>I didnt buy but I still
>wonder what it would taste like
You ever passed up foods that you later regret not trying?
just make it yourself
spread cream cheese on ham and wrap a pickle with it
>wa la
>>7901476
I don't see what's so special about this "dish" anon
>>7901481
if you read the ingredients thats not exactly whats in it but thanks for trying.
there's spices, preservatives and the kind of pickle is unknown. Sure man there's recipes and I can make a basic guess as to what it would taste like but it still wouldnt be that exact dish nor the exact flavor from that region of the states. And who is going to eat 20 of them?
I guess you dont get it..
>>7901484
Like you there's nothing special about it.
I had never guessed people eat pickles wrapped in ham and wondered what they would taste like is all.
Wtf won't this put them out of business?
>>7901370
I just wonder how they can pull it off as a business. The deal is too good to be true, desu
>>7901401
Those things are half breading, half cartilate/beaks/feet and scraps, fried in shit tier oil and served with HFCS sauce. They are probably breaking even.
>>7901364
Have you ever had them? They're disgusting. Must be made of recycled chicken buttholes.
What little neat tricks do you do /ck/?
I order mcdonalds and ask for no ice in my soft drink ;)
Order no pickles
Fries with no salt, then ask for extra salt
>>7900394
I order a bunch of food from the drive thru, then when it's time to pay / pickup the food, I speed away.
>>7900394
sub dehydrated onions
the slivers are gross!
Do they actually do this in Italy?
>>7897356
Yes, that's why they are so greasy/disgusting.
they do this in a lot more places than just italy
Only in murica i guess.
