if that wasn't intentional try taking the steak out of the package in the morning or the night before and leaving it in the fridge uncovered with your seasonings applied. it should dry out the surface of the meat just a bit and make it easier to brown.

I think I'm missing something with cooking here pls help
I'm tryin to learn how to cook meals since fast food and cheese sticks are getting a bit bland, and I was trying to make blackened chicken (it came out alright but a bit too charred and chewy)
I read a recipe online that said to heat the pan to high heat, add butter and then cook the chicken for 5 minutes on both sides. However when I was heating the pan and especially after adding butter, there was a fuckton of smoke (no fire). What'd I do wrong?
>>8135283
Non-clarified butter has a bunch of shit in it that burns pretty easily. What you saw was that butters smoke point. Thats always going to happen at some point with whatever fat you use, but all that dairy in the butter smokes at a much lower point than olive or canola oil or any of those fats. You werent doing anything wrong. Smoke is part of cooking.
>>8135295
it filled my entire apartment though, had to open windows n shit
>>8135298
Yeah, if youre trying to char the shit out of something theres going to be a fuckload of smoke.

I do something similar only without the cheese lol so just buttered pasta with salt and pepper, but a ton of extra coarse black pepper... Tastes good as fuck and nice crunchy/chewiness to it.

As far as donuts go, that is the most substantive. Definitely my favorite.
"Come for the 'za, stay for the race riots"
Detroit citizens believe "we're in this together". Everybody who still lives there have seen, or are aware of the horrors that racial/class conflict has on the city. Detroit is stong.

Wasn't 2008 the "worst" recession since the 1930's?
I survived on McDonald's almost everyday in 2008 and world of warcraft, good times.

My grandparents raised and butchered rabbits and sold them at their place of work which they were fortunate to have. My Dad told me he can still remember the screaming of the rabbits as they were slaughtered. He said they literally sounded like a feminine human in distress.
I'm in the market for a good Burr-Grinder and I don't really want to spend a lot of money on a piece of shit. Does /ck/ have anything in mind?
Also, coffee thread, I suppose.
>>8134778
depends on what you want to do and what your budget is. assuming your on a tighter budget the capresso infinity and batatza encore are entry level conical burr grinders that are well regarded for producing consistent grinds. however both are more suited to french press and drips as they do not produce fine enough grind for espresso or turkish. i personally use a breville dose control pro, which is under $200 and designed for fine espresso and turkish grinds but not that terribly great at medium or coarse grinds.
>>8134915
Well, money isn't really an issue for me, within reason. I want to get something that can produce consistent grinds and is pretty good at coarser and fin grinds. Don't you have to use a mortar and pestle to pulverize the beans into a powder for turkish and arabian coffee?
>>8134778
Assuming you're not doing espresso, Baratza Virtuoso
