Just bought some duck legs and duck fat. Will be making some duck confit. Anyone has a good recipe?
Bumping for interest, I'd love to cook with more duck
I cook with duck magrets often but never made confit. The duck legs I've cooked I've roasted, so watching thread.

Last birthday I had an orgy on mushrooms, am taking it easy this year. Pic related is drinks for this evening, wondering where to start.
>>8145743
Happy day, son.
Looking forward to the rump.
Getting late here, ate- some chips.
Is kikkoman the sojasauce to buy or is there a comparable/better for a reasonable price.
>>8145660
Soy sauce with wheat is shit tier.
>>8145667
And which isnt made with wheat?
Yes, but be aware it's the strongest tasting, if you're gonna use a lot of it in a recipe rather than as a condiment consider light soy sauce.

I fucking hate this fucker. Why can't I order a sushi combo without getting one of these?
>Wasting mental energy on something as pointless as 'hating' food
Have you tried asking?
>>8145591
Omg, they served me this with my order, and now I have to eat it! What can I do? Why does the world hate me?
Is there a cut better than flank steak?
>great balance of flavor and tenderness
>pretty cheap compared to ribeye/NY strip
>easy to cook, only requires a couple min of searing on each side on high heat + 3 min resting min resting

We make steaks at houme she's uses this steak . on burritos ots fucking super. this is mexican stake a lot
>>8145513

I prefer Sirloin.
There's a grocery store near me that sells about 30 - 34 Oysters in a box for about 16.99. I think it's a pretty decent deal. They are fresh within' a two day cycle, I always pass by them when I go, but always talk myself out of buying them.
Would I die if I ate 32 Oysters?
It would be extremely painful.
eat the shell to get the best bang for your buck
As long as they're fresh and kept cold, you'll be fine. Been growing up eating raw oyster all my life, right out the shell.
If you're worried, just batter and fry them. Or grill the fuck out of them with a bit of butter, parmesan cheese, garlic, and lemon juice at the end.

Those empanadas look like shit

Not OP, but those are pastes

They are basically the same thing anon.
I want to make chicken fried steak but I live in Denmark so the ingredients might not translate so well.
>Meat

>Gravy
This is the hard part. Give me your most solid advice blease.
>Mashed potatoes
Should I do it myself or get some easy powder shit?
>Vegs
What goes well with this dish? I always had sweet pies
>>8145260
>Should I do it myself or get some easy powder shit?
Do you like the taste of potatoes, or would you prefer to lick the bottom of a chemical vat?
>>8145260
>"cube steak" but I have no idea what that means?
It's a piece of lean beef that has been tenderized, either with a machine that stabs it with hundreds of little blades, or by being pounded with a meat hammer.
>>Gravy
This is very easy. It's basically a Bechamel sauce: Make a light roux with flour and some kind of cooking fat (ideally: bacon drippings). Add milk and a lot of black pepper.
>potatoes
Make them yourself
>veg
Traditional southern sides would be green beans, wilted spinach, or stewed collard greens. Sweet corn would be another classic side.
>>8145260
Cube steak is a certain cut of meat. You'll have to see about finding it yourself, since I don't know how to translate it.
>Gravy
It's just a peppery bechemel made with the fat left over from frying the breaded steak
Always nash your own potatoes
Green beans are GOAT
This makes me want to live in japan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plRHHNH9sww
You can get shit food like that anywhere.
>>8145265
You have to make it yourself though. I've never seen a Japanese restaurant in the states serve okonomiyaki. Bring it up to the owner and they're like "how do you know what that is?"
>>8145127
These look boring compared to Mexico's Thailand's Singapores and India's stalls
could a kind anon post those survival guides? My family is going through a rough patch and I wanna help them budget better

>>8144956

>>8145053
No, it's still bacon.
Hi /ck/. I'm making calzone tonight, want to add some champignons. Should I fry em before putting inside?
Also general small questions thread.
>>8144869
Yeah I would.
What other fillings are you going with?
>>8144869
*mushrooms
Calzone without cheese?
Thought this would be an interesting idea for a thread.
Let's share methods that can save time and energy. It can be dumb stuff like simply organizing the order in which you cook things in a pan to maximize its usage without having to wash it in between each step or planning which ingredients you'll work first so that you only have to really wash your hands by the end where you touch raw meat. You can get as complicated as you want.
pic unrelated
>when making a PB&J, spread the jelly first. It is easier to clean off of the knife, and it doesn't taint the peanut butter jar too much
>make your own teriyaki marinade with soy sauce and brown sugar. CAUTION: This WILL taint the peanut butter jar
>freeze your bananas before slicing and dicing them. Drop them in the skillet slowly, as the moisture will cause the oil to splatter at you.
>save all your Apple seeds and blend them with a little milk, honey, and ice for a refreshing smoothie. Add a spoonful of untainted peanut butter as a garnish
>>8144881
Apple seeds contain cyanide don't do this.
>keep a clean towel on you purely for drying your hands after quick washes to waste less paper towels
I'm a horrible cook
Are there any general rules when making stir fry?
What the fuck do i do?
Why is the food never crunchy soft?
>>8144801
hotter for less time
>>8144818
explain
>>8144912
sorry, went all technical on you there. let me break it down.
>make pan hotter than you have been doing.
>cook food in new hotter pan for less time than you have been doing.
let me know if that's still above your level of understanding and we can have another go.
