How do I crispy skin?
Always either burn it or end up soggy.
Bicycle pump mate
Wipe the skin dry with a towel before seasoning. Spray lightly with a decent oil.

What's a decent oil? and what temperature? recipes online vary wildly some say high heat for a short time others say low heat for a longer time.
Anyone know a good Salmon Recipe? I just got back with the most prime salmon fillets and I can't decide how to cook 'em. pic is one of only 3 food pics I own ^°|°^

Whats your favorite sauce to put on steak? My favorite has always been mayo, but my wife hates it and the smell, so I am not allowed to use it anymore. Is barbacue sauce good? Need suggestions
>>8166653
Whatever is your wife's son's favorite. Gotta keep the brownie points flowing.
Used to use barbecue until I started using HP. Now I don't use barbecue
>>8166656
Well my son is vegan and my wife believes if you eat steak you hate animals
I'm thawing out some frozen tilapia fillets.
I know there are many haters, but these were $0.99 a pound. Pictured is a pound and a half, so this meal cost me $1.50.
Ideas or tips? I was planning to do the ordinary flour, egg wash, bread crumbs coating, then shallow fry in canola oil. Unless you can give me a better idea?

>1.5 pounds of fish for one meal

Why are the Americans of /ck/ so obsessed with the so-called flyover states?
East-sders are sad uninventive yuppies or hippies while west-siders are the chavs of the states or monkeys
Any acceptable food on either coast is foreign anyway
So what's up with the hate for flyover states?
Please explain to an ignorant non-american anon
P.S. if you find the need to defend your weight, please use the civilized metric system when possible
it's so weird when yuropoors talk about us
>>8166514
that wasn't my intention anon
I only wish to understand
>>8166560
Leave us alone, go obsess over south america or some shit.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like Five Guys. I dislike it so much that I prefer most other fast food joints over it.
I enjoy it, but they could charge less and it's nothing to write home about.
Either way I don't think they're even in competition with fast food places because it's anything but fast
It's good if you like fries.
the burgers are standard mom and pop shop style.
most burger joints that don't have there burgers made and shipped out taste like this.
>>8166326
I'm with you, Anon.
The burgers are barely alright, and the copious amount of fries that are overly hyped are literal garbage.
Cheeburger Cheeburger on the other hand...
Can you use egg shells for anything in the kitchen? I read once if you're gonna clear your soup you can use eggwhite and the shells. Otherwise than feeding them to the chickens again, else?
Nothing that I know of. They don't even work for clarification of broth (though the white does).
Good fertiliser for your tomatoes, not much use in the actual kitchen.
>>8166316
You can use them to get shell fragments out of omlettes
/ck/ I need some heIp.
I reaIIy Iike Chorizo sausage but I don't know how to pronounce it, its is choh ree zo, or Cor ee zo?
I'm not biIateraI and its reaIIy embarassing saying it in the grocery store or something when I went to buy it.

It's that time of year again. So how does /ck/ make chili?
>>8166297
Someone stole the beans from your chili and dropped a plant on top of it
mine is really basic and boring
>sauté onion green peppers garlic and mince beef
>add two cans of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato sauce
>add brown sugar and lime juice to round out sweetness
>simmer for 1-2 hours
>add a can of red kidney memes, a can of mixed memes and some frozen corn and heat
>>8166312
I purreed the beans...
and fed the chili to texans who raved about the amazing flavor and authenticity.
>friend invites me over for dinner and beer night
>says he's making tortillas
>get there and he's already cooking
>literally just frying ground beef with premade taco seasoning packets
>La Tortilla Factory tortillas, tub of sour cream and jar of "taco sauce"
>mfw
If I invite someone over for dinner, I am going to be COOKING. How hard is it to mix some flour, salt, and water, olive oil, and fry up some tortillas? How hard is it to mix some cumin, onions, garlic, paprika, and red pepper into your beef? What he pulled is equivalent to inviting someone over for dinner and serving them a TV dinner or a tombstone pizza.
Has anyone else had experience with this kind of situation? What do you do to politely tell them off?
Don't say anything and then make up excuses next time you're invited.
You were invited into someone's home who considers you a friend. Don't be a dick.
Is that all there is to tortillas? I should make some.
>>8166209
How hard is it to realize that good tortillas are made with corn and lard, not fucking flour. And olive oil? WTF? Do you often confuse the Americas with the Mediterranean?
What's the best recipe for Asparagus and Eggs that you know?
>Roll asparagus in slightly damp paper towers
>Microwave for 3-5 minutes
>Combine with cooked eggs
>>8166158
Jaques Pepin would say an asparagus omelette.
Jaques Pepin is going senile, and throws anything in his cupboard into omelettes now.
off the top of my head
layer of cheesy grits with flecks of chive mixed in
a coupe hearty asparagus on top of that - pan cooked in butter, let cool then wrapped in a thin slice of prosciutto
scrambled eggs on top of that made "perfect" style but with sour cream used instead of cream
chive on top
How can I save money? I am student.
>>8166037
don't buy stupid shit
>>8166037
bulk
sales
avoid packaged goods
>>8166037

Coffee thread.
Just had a cup of supermarket beans after 3 months of nothing but locally roasted stuff and fuck me it just does not taste remotely as good. There goes my dollars.
>>8166020
Expensive coffee beans - much like expensive wine - is a complete sham. Numerous studies have shown, that even self-proclaimed "experts" can't tell the difference between the supposedly high end stuff and the stuff you buy at the supermarket.
>>8166024
Didn't they even do a blind taste test that put McDonald's coffee very highly ranked?
>>8166024
It's honestly about a dollar more a bag, and thats due to simple economy of scale. Don't care about the high end part of things, just freshness.
Supermarket coffee was roasted months ago, local stuff maybe a week.
I got 3 lbs of carrots. What can I make out of them that is /ck/-approved?
Put them in stir fries or ramen.
I use them in avocado+carrot vegetable "sushi" rolls.
Cutting them up and dipping in hummus is a good idea too.
krunchy karrots:
1. cover the carrot in pancake batter
2. deep fry
3. Coat in butter
let sit for 5 minutes and then enjoy
Season a few to your liking and roast them in the oven.
