Off-brand breakfast cereal almost always tastes like butt. So how does Sally's almost always manage to taste better than it's name brand counterparts? And at a lower price, in bigger packages?
>>8179563
Off-brand cereal is literally the same thing. Comes from the same factory.
>>8179565
I don't know man. Most store brand cereals don't taste this good, and they can't be the only cereal manufacturer that grocery chains deal with,
That's really nice packaging. I'd buy that any day if they sold it near me.

He's back! What state do you live in?
Dinner looks like shit as usual but I'd eat and drink it
Honestly that looks like most of my dinners. I don't know why I even come here. Tonight I'm having two boxes of wine, a turkey cheese cracker lunchable, and a chicken salad sandwich from the grocery deli.

Why doesn't this board have a sticky for newcomers? How do I get into cooking?
Figure out something you want to cook, then do it. Or if you have a parent or relative that is a good cook, ask them, they will be thrilled.
This should get you started:

nobody here actually cooks
we just eat at restaurants and watch gordon ramsay shows
What is the definitive best way of cooking oats
Rice cooker.
>>8176060
in a thing that gets hot with some water in it and then you do it correctly and it turns out pretty good try that
I love granola (homemade, store bought stuff is mostly garbage) but it's not overly healthy.
For oatmeal I usually do steel cut oats in a slow cooker with milk and water (I like about a 20/80 mix), some cinnamon, a little brown sugar, and roughly diced apples and/or chopped up raisins.
What does ck/ eat on the go for work/school? Preferably cheap.
Bonus if it is healthy.
fruit
Beef jerky.
>>8175217
Carrots, apples, sweet potato(I like it raw, but it could be microwaved), etc. anything that doesn't get disgusting from spending a little bit of time outside of the fridge.
Nuts, beef jerky.
my first time cooking a real meal
beef with sautéd mushrooms and baked potato

Looks really good. That's a proper medium-rare and not whatever those stupid infographics say is medium-rare.
Pretty fucking good mate. You did cut your shrooms a bit too small for my liking.
I mostly just half them, fry in really hot oil then add garlic, black pepper and a finely sliced shallot.
End the show with a splash of white wine, let it cook for a sec, add a bit of cream and fresh thyme.
tadaaa tasty shroom in creamsauce

Excellent crust, and perfectly rare. Good job OP. Keep on cooking. (Some one will be along shortly to tell you you suck)
Thoughts/experiences.
I visited the vegan reddit and I can safely say, I understand why people think vegans are insane.
They called out impregnating cows in dairy farms as "cow rape" which happens on a "rape rack" and tried to personify cows as mothers having their children taken away.
People on the board also call meat eaters omnis, or carnists, many say they wouldn't date or fuck a meat eater.
Also, the diet has many flaws, protein, iron, and b-12 are hard or impossible to obtain from a vegan diet.
I can understand vegetarians more than vegans, and they are on average less preachy.
Vegans have a race problem. They are unbearably white

You can live healthily as a vegan
But morally I don't see the point
Animals eat animals throughout nature
If the livesstock we eat have comfortable lives and are killed quickly I'm happy
>>8179789
vegans are pussies who don't understand the moral strength it takes to raise a food animal compassionately, but still be able to slaughter it
With some goddamn breakfast options because I have been eating the same shit for years now. Eggs and fucking breaded fish. My shit has been green many times before and my iron levels are quite frankly too big.
I need to reduce them and also introduce some healthy, viable breakfast alternatives.
>>8179670
Yoghurt with muesli or oats or some shit
A bowl of oats or porridge with a bit of honey
Fruit. Literally any fruit
Whole grain toast
Some milk
A toasted sandwich
These are all focused around pragmatism, easy to make and practical to eat in a rush
>>8179710
>A toasted sandwich
What kind of sandwich?
>>8179714
Eggs and breaded fish sandwich.
I made meatloaf today and although it turned out ok I feel there's something missing.
How about onion gravy or may be some kind of sauce?
Please help.
Ketchup and brown sugar.
I'm not joking.
>>8178248
I always used to have it with ketchup covering the top before baking
>>8178248
Caramelize onions, then pour beef stock on top. Mix in a slurry of corn starch and water. Bring to slight boil so it thickens. Season to your taste. That's a basic onion gravy.
Why does canned soda taste better than bottled soda?
Is it just placebo from paying more?

Butter.
>People actually enjoy chewy bacon rather than crispy bacon

I want to make a really fucking good duck pot pie this fall/winter. It's probably the comfiest food known. Any thoughts on pot pies? or other comfy food for that matter?
Don't put the pot directly INTO the pie and just bake it. Classic beginner's mistake. Look up what to do to it beforehand for the specific temperature and time you'll be baking at. Ideally, you should be able to mix it into the dough for the crust so it doesn't interfere with the flavor too much.

took me a minute to realize wtf you were talking about.
>He adds salt to his boiling pasta
>Doesn't know this slightly raises the boiling point of water
>Doesn't cover the pot to conserve heat
Fucking plebs.
Sorry dad

Would You? It's kinda like a Taco Pizza Turducken.

I don't understand why they wrap it in a coffee filter before folding a crepe around it.

I would
That it's fake is a letdown, has anyone recreated it?
How does based Olive Garden continue to make billions in profits operating with their menu?
>come in and be seated
>FREE SALAD AND BREADSTICKS
>make your own pasta choosing from 8 different pastas and 8 different sauces
>add chicken or sausage
>$9.99
Absolute madness. They are one of the most successful restaurants in the history of America and they continue to offer incredible value and great service.
They have to be sheltering money in a tax haven, correct? We should all head on down to Olive Garden today and order dinner and demand answers.
