What are your favorite youtube channels, recipe blogs, and other internet resources, /ck/?
I'm partial to Chef John, he's put out some really cool stuff over the years.
Also budgetbytes, just because the stuff is usually pretty easy to make. Really helped when I first started cooking.

I like Laura Vitale. Not hard to look on, and she makes nice, but relatively simple and quick comfort food, just what I like.
The BBC food website is really good

What leftovers do you eat cold what leftovers are acceptable to eat cold? Which need heating? Which should never be heated?
The only ones to heat are soups stews and saucy pastas, everything else should be eaten cold

I'm trying to wean myself off meat for health reasons, and have always heard that grilled portobello mushrooms "taste like steak," but do they actually have nutritional value as a meat substitute? I'm going to the supermarket today and was thinking about buying some of these mushrooms to use in a stir-fry, fry them up with some carrots, chopped brussels sprouts, garlic, ginger, thai chilis, szechuan sauce, served over rice., Is this a good idea? Also, any other tips on cooking with portobello mushrooms are welcome.

Just look up the nutritional info and compare.

They're good in a stir-fry, though honestly I prefer shitakes for that.

Literally how am I supposed to not undercut my calories? I'm a fat fuck and low calorie food is so incredibly filling that I can't eat more than 1000 calories a day. I want the health benefits of this so I don't want to stuff some unhealthy stuff into me to make up for it.

Believe it or not, you have to eat more often
5 or so meals of low calorie stuff a day
Also make sure you're looking at sugars on low calorie food
And mix some flavorless fiber supplement like benefiber into any non-carbonated drink you like, it'll help you keep weight off

Wait, so you want to keep being a fat fuck?
My potatoes sprouted. What do?
I read online just now that so long as they are not shrunken/withered, you can cut off the sprouts and use the rest of the potato. Also cut off any green parts too as those are toxic.
you don't want to eat that, trust me
Remove the sprouts as you peel them. As long as they are firm to the touch, you're good to go.
Remove any discolored parts once peeled.

Probably shit. I went to a steak and shake because faggots here raved about it. They don't even sell steak, the burger was shit, and they serve by FAR the worst chili I've had in my life

I don't live in the states anymore but Jet's is the best pizza I've ever had and the only food place I miss. Get lots of toppings.
Jet's is greasy shit. Have fun, anon.

I just bought my first loose green tea today- a simple Bancha. Feels comfy :3
>>8158752
Nice, I've got http://www.yuuki-cha.com/organic-green-tea/bancha/kyobancha coming to me in the mail, seems like a versatile tea with many different brewing methods.
Where did you buy yours from?
>>8158754
A local tea shop here in Philly. I'm new to green teas in general, so I started with Bancha on the shopkeeper's suggestion. I also picked up an oolong and some lemon mango for maximum variety. I hope you enjoy your bancha!
What's the worst meal you've ever had?
I just ate 2 packs of oysters & sardines in pace picante salsa with parmesan cheese.

What are some healthy snacks besides just fruit and vegetables?
I usually just grab a low-sugar protein bar, but 1] those are expensive and 2] there isn't much variety.
>>8182741
protein bars are basically candy bars with higher protein content. Define healthy.
>>8182741
Sunflower seeds?
>>8182757
>a low-sugar protein bar
And by healthy, I mean a reasonable balance of macros, I guess. Not too much fat (potato chips), not too much sugar (granola bars).
We have enough pics of bacon and fries.
Post a meal you enjoyed that was also healthier than our usual fare.
Which health craze seems particularly futile to you and how do you eat healthy instead?

Also you have to cut the peduncle of the tomato
Is there another quick way to make potatoes besides the microwave? I just tried it but the skin was very chewy by the time it was cool enough to eat.
pressure cooker
>>8181853
If you put them in the oven an hour ago they'd be ready by now.
>>8181853
cover it in foil in the oven and the skin won't get that way. fucking moron. what a mongoloid.
that being said, post here more and you'll learn some common sense cooking my friend, welcome. : ]
