Do you read or care about nutrition or ingredient labels on food?
>>8193741
If I see ingredients I don't have in my own kitchen I will avoid that food for the most part. If the nutrition label shows me it's loaded with sugar, salt and/or fat I will relegate it to a once in a while food instead of an everyday kind of food.
>>8193741
Yeah, I try to. I usually buy the condiments with the shortest list of ingredients and avoid stuff where I have no idea what it is. I still sometimes eat those though.
>>8193741
i mostly care about the nutrition info more than the ingredient list. i'm not allergic to anything food related nor do i have any vitamin deficiencies, so i care more about calories, protein, and sugar content more than a laundry list of stuff it's made out of
what are some good things to add to chili? vegetarian here and I almost always add a bar of dark chocolate and some habanero. I've read that beer and pineapple is good too. anybody have any suggestions?
>>8193736
A touch of ground cinnamon, not enough to actually know there's cinnamon in it, but it adds a depth that you miss if it's not there.

Let's talk condensed soups. Now I eat these every so often, quick fairly cheap and convenient for a fast or last minute meal that's hot, there are many brands but I've always been under the impression that the "Chunky" sub division of Campbells soup is among the best
Today, I have tried this....CHUNKY™ SOUPS
Kickin’ Buffalo-Style Chicken Soup. The soup itself glows orange, as one might expect from this kind of thing, it actually looks a tad off putting....the soup base itself is..odd, it tastes of processed cheddar cheese sauce mixed with a mild hot sauce (you can taste the vinegar and garlic flavoring typical of hot sauces and there is a mild peppery kick) mixed with the ever slightest hint of Bleau Cheese dressing.....pretty much what you'd expect, but eating this as a soup is rather odd quite frankly....the contents of the soup are a typical mix of decent sized chicken chunks, potato hunks, and bits of celery and carrots...pretty much what you get in many of their other soups, but eating it with this soup base is a little problematic.....overall, an interesting idea, but I don't really think it works...it wasn't the worst thing I've ever eaten and I was able to finish the bowl, but I definitely wouldn't buy this ever again

I get chillitos when I go there drunk, put the crackers in that shit.
Why would I spend $3-4 a bottle on different seasonings and spices to make my own say cajun blend when I can just buy the brand name's cajun blend for $3-4 and save money?
Is there a way to make your own spice blends that are actually cheaper?
>>8193624
>Why would I spend $3-4 a bottle on different seasonings and spices to make my own say cajun blend when I can just buy the brand name's cajun blend for $3-4 and save money?
The same reason anyone does anything on /ck/, to show what an elitist food snob you are and to look down your nose at the filthy plebeians that buy name brands of course!
You may be able to grow some spices for very little money, depending on where you are.
They can put it out for that price due to economies of scale.
You cannot compete with that, so you would have to look at the additional benefit of knowing exactly what is in your own mix, and how fresh it is.
>>8193624
Maybe by already having them?
Is anyone else mad about modern marketing? What pisses you off?
I hate "buy one get one free" since it's equivalent to "50% off two items fatass."
Except if I was going to buy one of those anyways there's no reason for me not to take advantage of that.
Marketing capitalizes on stupid people, modern or not. It's why there are stores that have items permanently on sale. The "sale" price is the actual price, but you see 20% off and lose your mind

Our 5 year "anniversay" is coming up. Gf wants to go to this italian fancy place "via Catora" or something. I just wanna surprise her with some homemade dinner and tiramisu.

Learn to budget your money.
You have $3,50 for the next two weeks?
Damn that's 25 cents a day, wew.
You can eat one ramen a day, good luck.
>>8193412

How do I ween off this shit? Only other drink I like on its own are berry juice drinks or maybe cloudy apple juice. I've been drinking only milk the past month but I've only been able to do that cus I supplemented all my meals with extremely spicy shit, pretty much forcing myself to rely on milk.
Fruit drinks are way too expensive anyway, soft drinks are too convenient.
>drink water faggot
drinking straight-up unflavored water gives me heart burn no joke. Looked it up few years ago and it's a common issue linked to some disease, should probably ask my gp about it this Friday.
I just stopped buying it at the grocery and got apple juice instead. But I mainly drink ice water. It's a battle getting to get through your body craving it but it's possible.
Every time you want a soda just have some juice but because of price limit to one or two glasses a day.
>>8193274
yeah I'm probably just a weak-willed faggot
Stop being a weak willed individual.

BEANED
Having a bean burrito for dinner is like sticking a big stinky alarm clock in your ass.
I should never be up this early;_;
Beans make you fat.
>>8192929
Yeah and it's gross too.
>>8194679
Refried beans filled with lard or hydrogenated palm oil, maybe, but beans in-and-of-themselves, and especially combined with onions and garlic (which increase the bioavailability of minerals in the beans), are actually one of the healthiest foods you can possibly eat. In studies, the amount of beans you consume directly correlate with longer life.
Also, if you eat a lot of beans, your digestive system adapts and you stop having gas problems.
please excuse the shitty photos
I'll be making czech koláče
Pic related is what it should look like in the end
warm milk, sugar, flour and yeast
melting butter
Is bread bad for you?
>>8192696
Absolutely. People are dropping dead all over the world. All the time. Haven't you noticed?
That one? yes.
Eat more of these. It's healthier and doesn't have have the shit texture of pure rye bread
Not in moderation, but avoid white bread if you can.
