i have not seen or spoken to my adopted family in like 2 or 3 years since i was kicked out.
but
the adopted mom can make a killer chili, sloppy joe, and other stuff. im talking 12/10 real good cant find a recipe like this online and before my egression from their residence my adopted sister had this little binder filled with flashcards where she wrote down all the family recipes. i kinda wanna stop in when they're all at work and jack it. i know it's rediculous but fuck man the food was so good i cant just let the recipes slip through my fingers
im sure they'd be civil if we ran into each other but they dont like me at all and it'd be too awkward to stop by after like two years and be like "yah so what's your chili recipe?"
>inb4 you should have learned it before you left. i tried man but they wouldn't let me help or teach me.

why are adoption related family relations always so fucked?

do you use the flavoring?

How do you faggots cook your ramen al dente? because i follow the instructions on the back and i always end up with goopy noodles, i can make perfect spaghetti but that's because i can just drain it when it reaches the perfect point, noodles on the other hand need the water for the flavor packets to dissolve.

just cook it

pick one out of the pot, throw it at the cabinet, and if it sticks its done

What's /ck/'s opinion on Dominos?

I want to give mine, but it isn't solid right now. I used to really like Dominos, but recently I haven't enjoyed it as much as I used to.

Their spinach and feta with white garlic sauce is their best pizza

fucking shit now quality has took a dive past few weeks ordered 2 large pizzas today to my friends house because I was on my way and I wanted to surprise them (we were going to the grove to celebrate her birthday) literally had maybe 1-1.5oz of sauce each and it was dry as shit was not worth the $27

>is this undercooked
yes, absolutely

I'd highly recommend getting a small and inexpensive cooking thermometer for testing meat. Test cutting meat before serving also works, but always checking meat until you're more experienced cooking is smart.

Learn to love eggs, they're cheap, healthy, and a cheap source of protein

How do I check if a jar is hermetically sealed? I'm trying to make kvass and I don't want to end up killing myself trying to ferment it.

Does the rubber seal mean it's airtight?
13 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>8198198
You're not going to want anything actively fermenting to be airtight. The yeast is producing CO2 and if you don't have any means for that to escape, your container will explode. I think you're misreading your instructions.

T. Homebrewer of beer, wine and mead.
>>
>>8198353
The instructions actually warned that it might release pressure when I open it. I assumed the airtightness was to keep out microbes besides the yeast.

Should I be doing something else to keep out microbes?
>>
>>8198405

my friend makes kombucha pretty often and he always talks about how important it is to 'burp' the jar every 2-3 days or it will explode - which can actually be dangerous, if you think about how much pressure it would take to bust open a well sealed glass jar.

I pickled some radishes a few days ago because I love radishes. The problem is that I haven't really found much use for them. I had some in a homemade burger today and it was pretty delicious. I can imagine it being good in big sandwiches in general.

Any ideas? Also planning on pickling some red onion.

they're pretty and crunchy and flavorful so they make a good garnish. Same with pickled red onion. Make sure you use red wine for that too, ya heard?

This is kinda one of those things you gotta trust you'll find a place for. They last so it's no hurry.

Tonnes really, I find anything with a strong or smokey taste benefits from them, they clean your pallet nicely. Salads and fish works well.

Ok guys, I am trying to make healthier choices 1 meal at a time.
Tonight a can either make :
Pasta Putanesca with garden fresh tomatoes and zucchini capers and anchovies
OR
Bean burritos with some veggies and no lard beans in a locally made tortilla.

I could thaw out a pork chop and have that with vegetables buy I'm assuming that would be the least healthy

**** THE WALKING DEAD /CK/ PANTRY EDITION ****

The zombie apocolypse takes you by surprise and you are one of the first casualties. A young couple survive the initial massacre and proceed to live off of scavenging what they can from the poor unfortunates like yourself. They find themselves in the midst of a zombie horde and seek shelter in your residence.

Having only the supplies you have in your pantry (fridge and freezer have long since spoiled) and assuming they have enough water:

How screwed are they??

Post some pics if you can (bonus points if they will score some weaponry) and we can estimate how long they can survive.

They could probably hold up a couple weeks before they have to make a mad dash to another house. Any longer and they might not have enough energy to do it. But at least they will have a chance after scoring some weapons. (about 200 rounds of 9mm and 100 rounds of .380)

Kind of hard to tell, but it looks like you have a bunch of dry goods...

3 weeks before they starve or run.
