I see a new one never started since the last one.

I'm one of the anons that decided to try making my own hot sauce after reading thru the original thread.

Pic is where I'm at. Fermented in jar for 2 and a half weeks then pureed and sitting back in a dark cabinet to ferment some more. I used just garlic and red jalapeno as my fermentables and as I was blending it I had to wonder if I'd used too much garlic. The smell of it is very heavy and that mixed with the seeds breaking up in the blender gave me a coughing fit.

Last thread was awesome and got alot of people talking and choosing to experiment on their own. Let's do it again.

I'm doing the same thing with 7 pot Chenguana peppers. I've always been tired of super hot sauces that taste like shit. I wanted something that hurts but tastes good. Did you use a thickening agent like corn starch? I always have a "too watery" problem.

Just transferred a batch I started during that thread to a gallon jug today with a fermentation lock. I did it a little different and pureed my tabasco peppers with the brine and stirred daily. It started out with a "fart" smell, but after about a week didn't have any smell other than hot. I tasted it yesterday and it was hot, but had a nice undertone of flavor that I don't quite know how to describe. I'm planning on letting it go a year.
>>
>>8219647
yeah, my 7 pots have a sort of "burning fart" smell. I hope it goes away

Are grits good plain or do they need butter? I have bacon fat on hand, is that a suitable substitute? Asking for a friend.

i do them sometimes with butter, sometimes without. they always need salt, though. a lot of times i'll mix a couple of eggs into them
>>
>>8219509
They definitely need oil. Bacon grease is really more traditionally southern than butter, but both work.

You don't seem to understand that word very well.
You would've been better off taking that beef and making a couple hamburgers and mixing in some mixed onions (less than $0.50) and green onion (way less than $0.50) if you wanted a treat.
'
If it's not a treat you should've bought a bunch of eggs and potatoes for the cost of the meat alone

I was brought up muslim to pork to me tastes really bad, like way too rich and fatty.

But people go on about bacon like it's the tastiest thing on Earth. And people love greasy, overwhelming pepperoni pizza

I've tried pork products for a few years now. What is it that I'm not getting about pork? Where's the tastiness?

Perhaps you should consider having surgery to scrape the sand off your tongue. The medical issue is called sandniggeritis; quite dangerous actually. It ultimately causes you to be obliterated by drones and if certain individuals get power, nuclear weapons. Suggest immediate medical treatment.
>>
Pig flesh is actually very bland. But the fat has an incredible amount of rich flavor.

But you might actually need a well raised pig to appreciate pork fat. The pork from grocery stores or walmart is pretty bad.
>>
>>8219391
The richness + saltiness and often sweetness/smokiness if it's cured. But not everyone likes it. Or some people only like small bits like bacon in an omelette or ham in bean soup.

I get sugar cravings after dinner

If I replace eating sugary shit with eating more proper shit (e.g. second helpings of dinner), will it make me fatter?

Eating second helpings of dinner stops the sugar cravings. Part of me thinks it will help me bulk up? But then also eating that much gives me a very full feeling in my stomach, and I keep thinking "ah it's just going to give me a fat fucking belly"

Wat do?

It could be fine depending on what it is.

Eating a ton of vegetables should be good for example. They are fibrous and low calorie.

Use brandy instead. Higher proof, better taste. And don't spill cocoa and fruit all over the place like a dumbass when you serve it, you'll have less to clean up after.
>>
>>8219237
rum with hot chocolate is pretty good
>>
>>8219268
Yeah brandy is awesome with hot chocolate.

Also recommend not throwing food on the table when you serve, it's not a good idea.

I caught this shitty virus and now I have sores all over my mouth that hurt when I eat things, mostly the side of my tongue.

What foods would be the best to eat in this situation? For example, non-acidic/soft food.

Pic related, one of the only things so far that wasn't too hard to eat.

So I happen to like sushi more than the average person. I always think about it. Sadly, I also think about the weight of my wallet, who seems to lose weight faster than an anorexic person.

Do you like sushi?
Which kind of sushi do you prefer?

My favourites include the roll on the picture, aka tuna mango and avocado and I also like nearly all kinds of white fish nigiri (bream, amberjack, etc.)

Post pics if you want to

Sashimi is dank, I like scallop, sweet shrimp, toro, and sea bass especially.
>>
Why not make your own? Doesn't cost that much if you go to a cheap Asian grocer.
>>
>>8218743

Op here. I do sometimes make my own actually, sadly I live in an expensive country and it usually costs more than going to a basic sushi place

here goes another pic to fuel my addiction
