Is there a more perfect alcoholic beverage, /ck/?
I prefer the root beer
gintonic

G & T plus a little squeeze from a lemon and lime (or either, both preferred) is the best shit ever.
Hey /ck/,
I'm hosting thanksgiving for my family at my house tomorrow. People are bringing their own side dishes but I'm in charge of the main stuff, including the turkey.
The thing is I'm vegan and I'm not going to serve any animal products. I don't care if other people bring non-vegan food, but I'm not going to be preparing any.
My question is, how can i make a tofu turkey look/taste more like real turkey? I've made it before and it was fantastic, but you can tell the difference. I don't want any of my guests to know it's not real turkey. Any help is appreciated.
Pic somewhat related, but I'd like for it to look better than that
>>8304062
There is NO FUCKING WAY you'll be able to pass off a fake turkey as the real thing. You can't duplicate the texture, flavor, and juiciness of real turkey. Deal with it, faggot.
>I volunteered to host a holiday whose main food item is not vegan for my family that I know is not vegan. How do I make shitty vegan items taste like non-vegan items?
Go be fucking gross somewhere else.
>>8304062
>vegan
>in charge of the turkey
Is your family literally retarded or something?
How can meals be kept hot after cooking?
I usually have a lot of cleanup to do after cooking and my food is usually cold by the time I'm done.
What do?
>>8312630
Clean while you cook, dumbfuck.
>>8312632
This, anon.
Just clean while you cook. Multitask. I do it, only thing that sucks is that "Dishwashing smell" on your hands when you eat.
OR just clean up after eating.
The 'warm' setting on your oven. But also, >Clean while you cook, dumbfuck.
Maybe I had some crappy crawfish but they tasted like crappy shrimp
They're called crawdads
They're called mudbugs
People are posting this all over facebook.
Discuss.

Retarded and disgusting.
I think that approximately 100% of recipes that you get from facebook links to clickbait sites are going to be garbage.
>>8312321
not clickbait links anymore, people are clicking the clickbait (friends) and then reposting it saying OMG such a good idea!!
how come almost all vegan food is copy of meat?
vegan burger, pizza, lasagne etc etc
its like everything vegan foods are a copy of meat food
why??
>>8312189
You appear to be too young for this site
>>8312189
I agree, I have a vegan friend and all he eats is vegan bullshit that is 'technically" vegan, it is just as unhealthy imo yet they are able to say "no animals injured to make this product". Theyre fags
Maybe the productions originally are created for some variety from vegetables/tofu/grains/seitan, but then lazy people who can't cook try to eat nothing but frozen burger patties?
I think it's individuals who are sad, or at least are more so than the existence of meat imitation products. Some actually taste fine.
How do recommend an impoverished college student cook chicken liver?
>>8311868
Wrap it in bacon with a water chestnut, secure w toothpick, bake until bacon is cooked, eat.
>>8311878
That's not bad.
You could also lightly salt and pepper it, and fry it up in some bacon grease. Olive oil is fine as a second option. Frying it in onions cooked until carmelized is even better, and super cheap. Would always suggest using salt/pepper/thyme/cumin.
Make Pate
Crackers or Toast points
Alright co/ck/s, time for some OC. Since we're all on this vietnamese flower arranging board, I assume you've heard of Food Wars. This is the first dish they described in detail, the "gotcha" pork roast. Here we have all the ingredients mentioned. Soy sauce, sake, red wine, mushrooms, thick cut bacon, potatoes. Umami time.
>>8311792
Looks like all the images are going to be rotated and I'm too lazy to fix it. Anyway, the potatoes are boiled, the mushrooms chopped and added.
Reduction time. Red wine, sake, soy sauce.
Alright here we have the potato mixture in the bacon wrap. Dog and cat are circling anxiously.
So I just got a blender strong enough to mix ice and nuts... what the hell do I do with it? Smoothies? Any suggestions or recipes?
Also discuss blending in general.

Have you ever asked a neighbor to borrow an ingredient for a recipe? What happened?
They called the police. I think my mistake was walking into the house around 11PM and waking them up to ask.

I live in an apartment building where I'm friendly with most of my neighbors, and many of them cook. We often send little tastes of what we're cooking across the hallway or up the steps, and have no problem knocking on each other's doors for ingredients we may run out of. I'd say this kind of thing happens at least every week or two. It's good to feel close to the people who live next to and above you. Makes it feel like you're part of a community. (It also helps that all of us are decent cooks).
She asked "why would the milkman possibly need milk?!?" And then about 300 strangers in bleachers laughed at me.
What is the best legume and why is it lentils?
>Beans BTFO
Love me some lentil soup desu
Also a fan of beans on toast
I like lentils okay, but I'm especially partial to chickpeas and broadbeans.
Native cuisine where I'm from uses a lot of all three and while I like the lentil dishes (which number only two), I prefer the huge cache of dishes using chickpeas or broadbeans (numbering into the dozens).
This is likely because we only have one variety of lentil used natively (the one front and centre in your pic) and it's only available dried whole while chickpeas and broadbeans are available both dry and fresh, both whole and split (less their skins) as well as ground into flour or meal.
The two lentil dishes I'm familiar with is stewed lentils (with or without sausages) and eaten with bread and lentils cooked with noodles.
What other lentils and lentil dishes would you recommend to a relative lentilvirgin?

>he's never rubbed one out in the kitchen
what the fuck is wrong with you?
Sorry for the shit quality photo.
My 21 year old boyfriend just cooked pancakes for the first time.
This is what he made. Since we didn't have any syrup, he poured lemon juice and sugar on top of it. He got the pancake recipe from the first google search (goodhousekeeping).
Where did he go wrong, /ck/?
>>8310207
Looks fine to me.
>>8310207
Lemon juice and sugar is much better than syrup.
>>8310211
That's what he thinks too. He doesn't understand why I don't want some.
