I seriously do not know how to prepare rice, I came from >>>/r9k/
>preparing rice
I am making this thread while preparing rice, wish me luck guys
>>9356074
depends what kind of rice it is. what does it say on the bag? just follow the instructions or Google how to prepare X kind of rice.
for future reference this is one of the slowest boards going so if you need help in a pinch, it's not really the place to come.
as for the rice, here's some things I'll suggest. Cook it in huge batches and refrigerate it in portions. then the day after you can dump the rice in a skillet with some oil/butter and soy sauce and make fried rice. can you cook an egg? place a cooked egg on top of your rice and consume, it's delicious
>>9356105
I managed to cook it, it is Pandan rice.
I can make some basic stuff like a nice steak, a good salad and broccoli and so forth but we lack it at home right now.
I like slow boards, they tend to make me come less often to this shitty website.
Thanks for the advice on how to preserve rice. What do you mean with cooking an egg? hardboiled or on those pancake pans?
>>9356113
a fried or poached egg is nice on top of steaming hot rice. poached is probably easiest. fill a pan with water and bring it to a low simmer. Crack an egg straight into the water and wait roughly three minutes (this will be longer if the eggs are refrigerated). take the egg out with a slotted spoon to drain the water, placing a bunched up paper towel under the spoon to catch the last of the water and so you don't get water on your food.
sorry if that's obvious I have no idea what your knowledge is
also with rice you can crack the egg straight into the rice in the pan when it's nearly done frying to make egg fried rice which is nice.
Post your creations here
My most successful experiment of the night:
>1 oz reposado tequila
>1/2 oz tamarind syrup (2 parts sugar, 2 parts water, 1 part tamarind concentrate)
>1/4 oz Frangelico
>Dash Ancho Reyes chili liqueur
>Dash absinthe
Jack straight.
If the homeless can do it then why can't I ya know?

How do I get myself to like fish?
My whole life I've hated fish. Salmon, tuna, carp, trout, you name it. I especially hate the texture of fish in my mouth, it feels so alien to me.
I love shrimp, and I can eat crab well enough, but the actual fish I can't do. I want to like fish because I hear it's good for you and does what beef does in nutrients but better.
And please don't just say "make sure it's fresh"
Have you tried tasting it?
Try meaty fish like salmon or tuna (filets, not the canned stuff). Grill it or sear it in a pan with olive oil like you would a steak, they firm up really well.
what are the best french fries you've ever had, co/ck/munchers?
from a resturant, homemade, bar, etc.
describe 'em
Local peruvian place does double battered fries with aji amarillo and roasted red pepper sauces. I could easily put away a couple baskets.
for me it is mcdonald's
the best french fry
Home made. Hand cut every fry, special seasoning mix, double batter, fresh oil. Maybe not the best in the world but simplicity beats that shit out garbage from local places. Artisinal fries with 80 sauces and 4 cheeses layered on.
Do people ever eat the stem of broccoli? Are there nutrients in it? Or is the leafy part of broccoli the nutrient dense part?
Despite popular belief the stem actually has the MOST nutrients in it
>>9355940
You're a Fucking liar.
Sometimes, but peeling all the damn awkwardly shaped stems right after theyve been steamed brings my ass too much pain to do it often
If it wasn't tied up in holiday traditions, would anyone actually bother with turkey at all? It kind of tastes like shit tbqh. My family has switched to roasting chicken on Thanksgiving, and we're all much happier for it.
I hate how turkey fucking tastes, I just like making them cuz it's impressive when executed properly.
>>9355782
It of course involves more work than chicken due to being overall blander and more unwieldy due to size. But with a brine, stuffing it with herbs and spices, and carefully watching the temperature, I think it does justify the work.
>>9356156
Its a holiday. And turkey isnt that hard to cook. Not sure what OP is so wound up about.
What's the best store bought cookie, preferably, but not limited to chocolate chip? I'd like to binge eat a pack and I'm not in the mood for chips ahoy anymore.
If you factor in cost, HEB brand are better than chips ahoy.
Famous Amos.
The little cookies they have in those tubs at Trader Joes.
>>9355765
Turns out I'm to stupid too read OP's post correctly, and suggested chocolate chip cookies that aren't Chips Ahoy.
Milano ones are great, they have a variety of flavors. Personally I would just bake some cookies at home, they're way better than storebought. I like peanut butter cookies.
just whipped this up white bread and turkey with spicy mustard, what do u think??
im still kinda hungry should i make another?
Every thread deserves at least one reply. But this one really tested my resolve.

My Mom used to call me BigBeanBoy growing up because of all the baked beans I loved to eat. God that's a good memory. She passed away a few years back. Does anyone else here have any nicknames related to food?
i got called sweet pea by my mum
i don't even like peas and she knew that

I'm her "Lil Bun" because when she was having me, she ate a fuckton of buns and breads throughout those 9months. I came out with cheeks soft as a bun, even round as a bun.
>tfw 20years later still got bun-like cheeks; puffed up huh?
If you wash these before eating them, you're a fucking pussy.

I found a spider in my grapes once and then I stopped buying fresh fruit in containers.
>>9355597
He was guarding your grapes from flies.

why is whey the most popular protein? Hydrolysed beef tastes just as good with better protein content but doesn't have that chalky texture to it.
it goes good in a shake.
>>9355600
wow, riveting criticism
I can't people actually go out and eat wings with their and get messy and sloppy.
We have other options...
>>9355575
I just use chopsticks.
I've seen plastic gloves given out with chicken in various countries. Not sure why this is never done (?) in the first world west.
>>9355575
Getting messy and sloppy is fun. Blue crabs in MD and crawfish in LA are two good examples. But doing it over chicken wings is as shitty as doing it over nachos - it's just shit tier stuff.
Do americans really do this?

Is this eatable?
Looks easy enough
Why, are you jealous?
>>9355633
>Looks easy enough
O say can you see...
Might have messed up. I used the same knife to prepare the pork to cook it as I did to cut one of the finished pork katsu.
How many dead am I?
pic related but better than what I made
>>9355533
you're fine. statistically you consume millions of potentially harmful bacteria everyday. the higher the exposure the more likely you will get an infection.
You have 3 days to live. RIP OP
>>9355533
Eh. The problem with eating pork is mostly parasites, although any raw meat will have more bacteria than cooked meat just by the virtue that cooking meat kills bacteria. A few knife-swipes of raw pork are probably not going to increase the amount of bad stuff you consume all that much, though.
I wouldn't have a problem with eating it, personally.
