no it's a spice. it's good for foods
cayenne pepper is a ground mixture of a select different varieties of hot peppers. The purpose is to add minimal but present flavour while adding a noticeable but moderate kick to food.
it's a great spice.

Why is he considered to be one of the best chefs? Was he lucky in having people that like his style be the ones that propelled him to stardom? Do people's perception of his food now change due to his stardom for better or worse?
He's got a boatload of Michelin stars and that's the only real metric anyone has for this sort of thing, even if the system is flawed.
He isn't really considered one of the best chefs, more one of the best TV chefs which is alot different.
>>8551764
He trained under several Michelin chefs and was earning Michelin stars well before he was on TV.
That's what got him on TV in the first place.
Does anyone else frequently try new beer to expand their bottle/can collection or am I just autistic?

When is a slice of pizza "too big"?
>>8551577
Fuck you
>>8551581
What?
>>8551676
I'm sorry sir, but you have offended us greatly by implying that pizza can come in "too big" slices.
The rule of the land that there is no such thing as "too big" pizza. Implying that pizza is too big is like going to Dark Ages England, and saying that God doesn't exist.
You are lucky that you said this online, and not in real life, because you certainly would've been assaulted.
I'm glad that we had this talk.
itt: ingredients that intimidate you
alternatively but similarly, ingredients that you fuck up
for me it's literally all fish
How is it possible to fuck up fish?
It pan fries like a baby and if that's too hard for you, just stick it in a pot with your rice and let it steam itself to perfection
>>8551501
I don't know. I just can't do it. I just end up with a smelly kitchen and fish that makes me gag.
>>8551501
Not op, but even on teflon it seems to shred on the flip. I don't like too steam good, it gives bad results in my experience. Swordfish grills great tho.
I have 1/2 bottle of Mark's fluid that's almost a year old, it smells funny. Is it safe to drink or should I throw it away?
too late, I'm drinking it. fuck y'all.

Yes
>should I throw it away?
Yes

Hey /ck/ my birthday is in exactly one week. I don't remember the last time I celebrated it but I want to go to a nice restaurant for once. Is Ruth Chris a good option? I like pretty much anything. Also who do I ask to go to dinner with me? No friends
It's fine enough if your level of discernment is, "I like pretty much anything." You'll love it. Take your mom or dad. But not both. Unless you have that kind of relationship with both of them and they're still married. That's getting a little rare now though
If you live in or near a decent sized city, no ruth's chris is over-priced as fuck.
There should be actual non-chain steak houses nearby if you live in or around a decent sized city. You will get at LEAST as good a steak for less, or if you spend the same amount as you would have at Ruth's Chris, it will likely be much better.
t. eats at $30-75 per steak steakhouses once or twice a month for the past ~7 years.
Or am I just fucked, because cooking is a passion.
Don't waste the credits. There's nothing you learn there you couldn't learn working in the industry or practising at home that you couldn't also learn in a couple of business classes
>>8551292
I agree OP. Now you have home chefs on shows like chopped and cooks vs cons and any other reality food show. Any idiot now can own a food truck. Google and YouTube are your best friends. Good luck though, if you want to own your own restaurant one day, think very carefully about that shitty road, but if you don't mind working for someone else dreams, just dont get into the hardcore drug scene. Lots of coke and meth are used by some very famous places and chefs. Don't go down that road.
Thank you!
Help /CK/ I graduated culinary school and realized I hate working in restaurants long hours shitty pay and you're disposable background School I thought it was glamorous being a pee on and working you way up over the years to a master
now I realize it sucks and I'm broke
>>8551112
Might as well kill yourself then!
>>8551112
maybe try not working at a shitty restaurant?
you're right on track with most people who go to culinary school, though.

I recently found out I have Oral Allergy Syndrome. It fucking blows. Basically I'm allergic to most fruits due to pollen. I know celery, cucumbers, and possibly raw tomatoes and raw potatoes are out of the question too. I can have pizza but haven't tried tomato soup. Apparently cooking the fruits to denature the proteins allows me to eat them but I haven't tried this yet, since a swollen throat is scary to experience.
What vitamins should I be supplementing with a multivitamin? Can I just have chicken, cheese, rice, eggs, and milk forever without dying?
I can't even have a garnished drink. It's so fucking annoying.
>>8551064
>allergic to some goddamned thing
Every fucking time.
>>8551064
yeah dude i have this. it can't kill you, first off, it only makes your mouth tingle. second, if you apply even the tiniest amount of heat to the raw fruits you'll be ok.
The chemistry is interesting - it has to do with the lipid chains that connect the compounds in the fruit. You just have to break the lipid chains and you;re good.
>>8553040
2nding this. I have the same condition. Cooking the fruits absolutely does work. Also, it is a very limited number of fruits. In my case I can't have raw strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries.
I have zero issues with tomatoes, bananas, blackcurrants, cherries, melons, papaya, mango, any citrus fruit, tomatillos, peppers, cucumbers.
>>multivitamin
What does that have to do with OAS?
I got a George Foreman grill for my birthday. Should I be happy about it or is using one degenerate?
I only want to cook in the most red pilled, non-Jewish way possible.
Thanks for your help guys!
Love,
/pol/
>>8551029
>drain out the grease and flavor from your steak
George Foreman grills are indeed degenerate trash for middle aged soccer moms on a health kick.
>>8551029
Use it as a panini press. cooking anything else on there is really stupid.
George Forman lives in a Texas ranch with a whole gang of white women. What do you think they do there OP?
