My friend's gf is coming over for dinner again tonight. What do you cook when you're trying to impress a girl?
Whatever I would be having anyways but x2 quantity.
If you don't approach every meal in a way that would impress a girl, you're a pleb cook.

Ebin!!
I try to boil lobsters while wearing cleats.
I'm realizing right now that i'm craving sugar really badly. What are some good ways to cut it back? Possibly alternatives?
>>8554530
Honey is the only true answer
aspartame, sugar free gum
>>8554530
Just suck it up the sugar craving goes away pretty fast it's the starch cravings that last
What is the proper order for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Does the jelly go below the peanut butter or vice versa? When I was a kid, if the PB&J didn't taste right, my mommy would just put it behind her back and flip it over, but now I'm making them on rice cakes like a cracker, so there is no top slice of bread. This is confusing.
>>8554505
you deserve this
>>8554517
THERE'S NOTHING THERE!
>>8554505
I guess it depends on what you want to taste first. wouldnt you taste whatever is at the bottom first
Are there any fiction books about cooking that will teach me some about the craft and recipes along with a story?
Straight up recipe books are kind of boring.

redwall series

if you like weeb stuff
shokugeki no soma
>>8554455
I heard this on the radio the other day and it piqued my interest in that it's comfy reading books that involve cuisine and cooking.

I agreed to go "vegan" for 40 days, or as long as I can manage. Not necessarily vegan, but the Christian form of fasting with is vegan + no oil.
What sort of recipes can I make? Preferably stuff that is not exotic/hard to find/expensive.
Explain the no oil bit for me
Ice soup
Toast sandwich
>>8554436
I was told no oil, like olive oil or other cooking oils.
Anyone ever drink this stuff? I can't be the only one.
I don't reckon it's a common thing to do
I personally don't see the appeal of injesting in that quantity
>>8554326
>I don't reckon it's a common thing to do
Depending on where you are, it actually is. Look up "michelada." In Latin America, it's common to drink beer mixed with worcestershire saucer.
>>8554331
Michelada is beer with lemon and salt man. Maybe a little squirt of hot sauce, or red pepper flakes, but that's it. Worcestershire sauce doesn't even exist on latam.
let's talk about sous vide and what kinds of stuff you have cooked with it
I made some chicken wings at a perfect 155 degrees and then grilled them
I've only done carnitas and steak so far
I've tried putting various beef cuts in and I can't say I find it worth it for anything other than steak. Anything larger or tougher is better just plain potroasted or braised imo.
It's godlike for chicken though.
What's on your spice rack?
Favorite spices to use?
Here's mine.
>>8554282
pathetic array desu
Sea salt
Whole pepper
Cumin
Cilantro
Garlic powder
Old bay
Butfore
>>8554282
Absolutely horrible. You wouldn't even know how to season with spices that don't come pre-mixed. How can you even begin to justify onion powder? Are you proud of this? Kill yourself.
People always say 'you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs'.
Couldn't you technically make an omelette while breaking only one egg if it's, like, an ostrich egg or something?
No. You're wrong, and you will always be wrong.
>>8554213
Or you could make a tiny omlette with one egg. Kys
>>8554217
I'm just saying the omelette math doesn't add up.

Yes I know the only hotdogs worth eating and not chock full of filler shit are also the only thing jews ever did right for the world. But regardless if theyre not kosher Oscar mayer made the hotdog what it is today.
and I need your help CK
long ago I learned that there are rules for eating a hotdog that oscar mayer made. I cannot for the life of me remember them all. And naturally goddamn degenerate trash nigger loving pieces of shit have ruined google because all I find there are "professional" hot dog competiton rules. Fuck that bullshit.
the main rules i remember are
"no more than 5 bites to finish the hotdog."
"only children are allowed ketchup"
"dress the hotdog not the bun"
But thats all I have.
I cant remember or find the rest. Please CK help me
I remember a few of the other rules. For example, goyim aren't allowed to eat our hot dogs

So, this is my first steak cooked on a cast iron pan (yes I'm the same anon which opened a thread for the cleaning issue).
It's a 550 gr "tagliata" steak which in English should be called strip steak, 3/3,5 cm thick.
4 mins per side + 2 mins basting with butter and garlic.
Opinions? Could I improve something?
Dumping photos
Raw steak, I removed the pepper
not too shabby but use more pepper next time and make a pan sauce, don't waste the juices
