What does /ck/ think of copper stone pans? Worth the money, or just a gimmick?
I have no idea what the fuck that is, but every 2 or 3 years some huckster "invents" a new "copper-THING" pan where THING is some random garbage that isn't copper and we're supposed to think it's just as good as copper but at 1/20th the price (as seen on TV)
if you want copper, falk, bourgeat, soy turkiye, duparquet, and to some extent mauviel (if you're careful) make good quality copper pans
If you don't have the funds for that, there are many better options than some junk with 'copper' in the name, this is as shady as the 'jamaica style blue mountain brand coffee' that tries to hoodwink innocent consumers
Aluminum is an excellent material, for instance
Pros: Parts that are made of copper
Cons: Parts that aren't made of copper
You can tell the quality of copper cookware by estimating what percent of the total product is copper, and then imagining how hard an asian stepmother would beat her kids if they brought that percentage home on a test.
We all joke about picky eaters, but do you guys really encounter any? Just look at this manchild who only eats breaded boneless chicken products and frozen pizzas fail to even eat a small sliver of steak cooked by Guy Fieri without gagging

Natural peanut butter is generally the best
Anything JIF makes smells like shit and tastes like burnt peanut oil.
Euros, tell me about Lidl. They're going to open their first US stores in a few months. We already have Aldi in a lot of places.
It's more of a cheapass grocery store. We do not have an Aldi here so i don't know how they compare.
The thing is the products there are not usually too bad, at least the fresh produce section sells local vegetables and other local shit a lot cheaper than any other grocer/supermarket, which is nice.
>>8700666
Irishfag here, I do all my shopping in Lidl.
I find their meat and veg to be the same standard as other places. I've never had any problems with their food other than a bit of mold in some of the fruit packs, but this is rare. It is advisable to check the dates carefully when buying in Lidl, but I've only ever cooked their meat and never gotten any kind of poisoning from anything they sell.
>>8700666
The cheaper stuff there is definitely of higher quality than what yo'd get for the price in many other stores, so, being a student on a budget, I shop there rather often. Still prefer getting my meat from the local butcher though. Not sure how the products they'd sell be in the us.
What does /ck/ think of the George Foreman Lean, Mean, Fat Reducing Grilling Machine?
Do you have one? Do you use it? Are you knocking out the fat?
I grew up eating hamburgers cooked on these things. I always fucking HATED homemade hamburgers for this reason. Dry, crumbly, no fucking flavor. As soon as I was a teenager I went out and got fast food burgers and blew lots of money on eating out. Then I learned that oh, they don't put a giant weight on the burgers, squeezing out the fat, like my overweight father did when cooking in this piece of trash. It's literally just good as a sandwhich press and convenient for cooking some vegetables. If you cook meat in this thing you might actually be retarded

time machine?
>>8700598
You're right but that'll cost you two cubic feet of cupboard space my friend.
Hope someone here can help.
Got one of these laying around in the restaurant I work at, and apparently no one knows how to use it because it hasn't been part if the daily-use equipment for the last few years.
I'd like to try it to eventually give it use at a cocktail competition, so the question is...
Seeing how you have to add certain amount of gas depending on how much liquid is in it, does the bottle's size matter at all? IE: I got one with the capacity to hold one litre (1l), can I use four hundred millilitres (400 ml) of liquid and a gas charge, or would I have to double up and use 800ml + two charges?
Also, any tips and tricks on how to use them? Foam consistency also concerns me.
Thanks a bunch

>charge with one nitrous oxide cartridge
>No liquids
>Put nozzle in mouth
>Slowly depress trigger
>Inhale deeply
Pretty decent high, only lasts like 45 seconds though.
>>8700557
Don't think the conpetition judges would like that very much.
Or who knows, maybe it becomes a consistent part of out drinks menu.
>>8700545
>does the bottle's size matter at all?
Yes.
If you fill it only partway then you need to get rid of the extra air, aka "purging the headspace". You do this by charging it slowly while at the same time holding the valve open. This purges out the air. Then you use a 2nd cartridge with the valve closed to do the actual charging.
Another cool trick you can do with these is carbonating fruit. Fill the container with fruit, and if you want add some flavorful liquid (booze, perhaps). Then charge it using CO2 canisters like you would for a Soda Siphon. Let sit in the fridge for a while. Then you'll end up with carbonated fruit! Makes for an interesting garnish or visual effect in a drink.
so /ck/ we're not exactly spoilt for choice down here in australia when it comes to frozen pizzas

Alton brown = chef john
I would like to see a cook of between the two
do you prefer to fully brown mince before adding pasta sauce or to have it be a bit pink before adding the sauce?
>>8700433
>mince
Bongistani detected. I fully brown it, but it's fine if it's a bit pink and you simmer it for a while after.
>>8700474
im a decolonzied penal colony
BTW, is there a way to deal with the grease? I can only afford 23% fat beef which is fine for stuff like burgers but when I want to do something else it always turns out greasy as fuck.
I don't add oil or anything else. Am I doing something wrong?

Why don't you cheap fucks just spend $1,200 on homebrewing supplies like me and get a job at a brewery so you never have to buy beer again? It practically pays for itself.

i want to do some kraut or kimchi soon as well. i agree, it is lame that all the premade stuff tends to be blasted with heat. it's such a hassle to find the good stuff that i think it would be a really good thing to learn how to do.
lately i've been making lots of mung bean sprouts in recyclable containers which is a lot of fun too.

I don't know what you heard, but I'm in the most redneck, poor, white trash shit town you can find in America and this never happened.
There is also a rebel flag flying with a USA flag on a pole right across the street, for reference.
